I frequently visited FunnyJunk before migrating to /co/. The pilot for this show was posted often and it always made the front page with thousands of thumbs up, and anyone who called it out for its 2edgy cheap bullshit got thumbed down to oblivion. I don't think people comparing this shit and super jail have watched more than a few minutes of the latter. Superjail does have similar violence and gore, but rather than playing it for shock like this and then expecting people to laugh, it has gore that is either done in a way that's comical, or there's such a ridiculous amount of gore and death that a scene becomes comical.
The difference between the two is any semblance of comedic timing and a knowledge of why what works works.

Mr Pickles has mindless unfunny gore with no creative camera work, no fluid animation, no clever visual gags for the deaths, no seamless transitions. It's as mind-numbing as "Dog kills hobo with axe". That was funny on Newgrounds 10 years ago.
Superjail has gore but with creative talent and spark put behind it. The Jailers are running frantically during a Show n Tell and bump into a science experiment by the Warden which mutates them with some clever camera work zooming into their atomic structure as it rearranges and zooms out to show cool morphing abominations that kill each other as other jailers do this and that and the other thing.

I just watched the pilot. The only thing remotely funny was the illegal alien movie clips. Other than that I honestly didn't laugh or even smile at anything. All the jokes fell flat, the pacing was awful, none of the gore worked in the shows favor which was really disappointing, and the animation was really janky. Overall: it's shit and it'll probably get a bunch of seasons.
