So two big mysteries
1: Still don't get how Vision gets to where he is now to going full Ultron
2: While I admit that he could probably beat most of the people on this page, especially one-on-one, not really sure what he's supposed to be able to do against the likes of Blue Marvel and Monica Rambeau.

>>81510387
Feel like he should have told Virginia beforehand that the Grim Reaper despite having a name, counts about as much as a Hand Ninja when it comes to staying dead. Like wasn't it only a couple years ago Rogue killed him on national television?
>>
>>81510470
Wait, so we're caught up now? Didn't a bunch of the ominous narration earlier claim that Viv or Vin would soon die?

>>
>>81510655
My question is this: does Agatha, who's been narrating the whole time, know what's going to happen next or did she simply see only the events that she just explained to the Avengers (the first six issues).
>>
>>81510738
She know all the events that are about to happen, but since she chose to alert everyone the future will change
>>
>>81510822
So she's not exaggerating or predicting what might happen? She's saying he'll literally kill all their families and raze the world because she saw it?
>>
>>81510470
Perhaps I'm missing something, but why is Vision evil again?

Lying about wife self defense? Most of the people in the room have killed for less.
>>
Didn't the first issue say that in this issue, the Visions would burn their neighbor's house down?
>>
Every issue of Vision makes me tense up and feel like there's a ticking, emotional time bomb just waiting to happen.

It's like that slow ascent at the beginning of a roller coaster, where the anxiety lies in knowing the upcoming, tumultuous ride ahead.

I love it.
>>
This book is so good
>>
>>81510470
Seems a bit overkill to have all these heroes be involved. Just the ANAD Avengers would have been enough.
>>
>>81510976
The thing is, Vision is an AI, so the slippery slope is real.
While "humans" have morals, Vision has guidelines, and if those guidelines evolve to include "Delete everything that may harm Vision_Family.zip", he will stand by these.
>>
>>81510247
It will be really hard to see Vision on other heroes team again after this.
>>
>>81510470
Why did they invite Storm and the Inhumans? They don't have any involvement with Vision.

>>
>>81510440
This is a pretty touching scene even if you know things will only get worse from the narration in older issues.
>>
Who is the Grim Reaper anyway and how did he come back from the dead?
>>
>>81511703
Yes. It's better to imagine everyone's books in a separate but similar continuity.

Anyway, is anyone going to try the dog name challenge?

The Grim Reaper is Wonder Man's brother. He hates Vision because he has Wonder Man's brain patterns and thus sees him as a cruel mockery.
He keeps coming back from the dead because it's just plain impossible for him to stay dead, someone always resurrects him somehow. I bet he'll be back again by the end of the series.
>>
>>81511783
He's Wonder Man's brother. He's been a long time Avenger villain and has had a beef with the Vision because he was made using his dead brother's brainwaves. He regularly comes back to life through various means throughout history. Last one I remember was him coming back as a horseman of apocalypse
>>
>>81511908
Is Wonder Man dead nowadays?
>>

He let himself be absorbed by Rogue to give her his powers temporarily, unfortunately they weren't able to reverse the process.
>>

>While I admit that he could probably beat most of the people on this page, especially one-on-one, not really sure what he's supposed to be able to do against the likes of Blue Marvel and Monica Rambeau.

The Vision is a fully realized AI. The whole problem with AI's is they are capable of exponential growth and improvement.

He isn't capable of taking on the Avengers all by himself. But if he decides he is going to have to take them on in future he is capable of rapidly improving to the point where he can take them.

>>81510976
>Perhaps I'm missing something, but why is Vision evil again?

He isn't evil. The point is he is normal. He has decided that the lives of his family are more important than the lives of everyone else.
>>
>>81512412
It's absolutely the most human Vision's ever been. Turns out that's not necessarily a good thing.

Also, this is the creepiest comic (including IDW, Image, Darkhorse, and Vertigo) currently being written by a LONGSHOT. It blows my mind.

So the problem seems to be this:

-Vision is super powerful
-His family fucked up hardcore and now he has to protect them
-Him protecting them from the law will lead to clashes with superheroes that escalate into planetary destruction

Now the heroes all know this is going to happen.

So instead of a big stupid fight to destroy vision or his family or some other retarded shit, wouldn't it make more sense to pardon or cover up Vision's family's actions and move them?

Seriously, this seems like a very easy problem to fix if you're willing to bend even slightly to pragmatism.
>>
>>81510470
>Vision covered up his wife self-defense murder of an unkillable supervillain
>HE WILL KILL ALL YOUR FAMILIES AND RAZE THE WORLD

That's a considerable leap in logic there.
>>
>>81512500
To be fair, I think it's killing the teenager that matters not killing Reaper
>>
>>81512488
>wouldn't it make more sense to pardon or cover up Vision's family's actions and move them?
That would be the ideal scenario, placate them and protect them to keep them from murdering others to cover their own asses. But at the same time it's not the kind of behavior superheroes should have.
>>
>>81512488
What would possibly happen if Vision and his family are in the hands of Sunspot's A.I.M?

Fighting to put them in the negative zone is what would lead to earth getting fucked by Vision
>>
>>81512632
"Hey Vision, you know where you and your family could live a happy life without persecution or fear of hurting anyone? The Negative Zone"
>>
>>81512542

I agree it is not the behaviour that superheroes should have. But from a government level it makes more sense just to turn a blind eye to shit like this. Maybe even send a SHIELD agent to visit them on a regular basis as a personal liaison and let them smooth over any funny business and cover up any minor crimes.

It would be a good way of dealing with the threat and they could also call in favours when needed.
>>
so his family has the same abilitys as him?, which means 4 visions vs all them guys, they coul dtake em all out with the phaseing out ones brain/heart other organs, but ya monica might be a problem, bashear he would also get the phased treatment

That's the thing; that part is entirely new and made up for this series.
While this series IS amazing so far (like, so good), it's also basically flung in the face of everything that has been published about Vizh in comics before Bendis just kept calling him "a robot".

A key facet of Vision was that while his body and brain were synthetic, ultimately he was a human being, or at the very least a very decent person.
So, fuck Bendis for ruining everything he touches since USM, I guess is what I'm trying to say.
>>
I can't remember: are we still waiting to find out whose brain patterns Vision used to make Virginia?
>>
>>81511833

Death never seems to stick with Grimmy.
Also, I'm not sure killing him is even morally wrong, since he's a stone-cold psycho even by supervillain standards of the deeply mentally and emotionally unstable kind.

Because of course it can't stop there.

We've already seen Virginia's actions in covering up the crime have already led to two more lives being lost. And now a third with the dog.

How long until George and Martha stumble on some piece of evidence Vision and Virginia missed and they have to be taken care of. How long until the detectives start digging up clues and have to be gotten rid of? How long until another kid at school bullies Vin at school and he snaps them in half like a twig?

Vision actually isn't bulletproof without increasing his density.
He's stronger then normal people and made out of synthetic versions of what regular people are, but other then that is basically human.

>Then people who don't read non-x-men comics started going, "wait prejudice makes no sense and is illogical, wtf, separate them!"

What's funny is that Excalibur (the X-book taking place in the UK) kind of implies here and there that huge mutant racism issues and race riots is most definitely something of an "American problem" rather then a universal one.
In fact most UK civilians seem to have a hard time understanding the difference between mutants and other superheroes.

How is that even possible, her powers were fine a couple of years ago? This was literally impossible unless she intentionally did that, which would also fuck her powers right back up again.

Traditionally the US has had far more religoius fundamentalists then many other countries, and fundamentalism specifically in ANY religion is pretty poor at adapting to new shit, resulting in riots, prejudice, and protests, especially when religious authorities use fundamentalist rhetoric to fire up their group or political interests do the same to get votes.

Well Simon was essentially sentient energy with no real body so when he gave her his powers he basically entered her body, unfortunately he got stuck in there and was a voice in Rogue's head for a while then he hasn't really been heard of since Secret Wars started.

>Everything
Well, aside from shit outside NP, like R and impossible problems.

In fact, all the problems a computer can solve is a countable infinity, but the number of problems you can pose is an uncountable infinity, so there is actually an infinity of problems you can't solve.
>>
>>81512488
I think the greater problem here is that the family is clearly degenerating further.

How long before Vin starts murdering classmates or Virginia starts vaporizing neighbors for making her home "unclean"?

>>

>>
>>81522657
Not completely accurate, but pretty accurate. From a deterministic perspective it's a nice shorthand to think of P as "problems with shortcuts" and NP as "problems which can be brute forced." It's worth noting that some problems are beyond NP complexity, but I don't know if those are necessarily problems that translate in any way to the real world.

>>
>>81523038
Yeah, there's some...kinda disturbing implications here.
Like, Vizh is based off the positronic brain of the first Human Torch and the thought patterns of Wonder Man, but he's never shown ANY ability to make androids by himself.

Unless he literally copied his own method of manufacture.

From what I understand, Vision's robot type needs human brainwaves right? And this issue just showed us him taking a dog's brainwaves to make Vision Mutt.

....Are we sure that he didn't do the same to some random humans to get the brainwaves for his family?
>>
>>81510976
Vision is making choices a normal person would. However, it's clear that based on the choices his family have already made, this will only continue to get out of hand if they continue to do what they're doing now until it's escalated to global proportions.

I wouldn't label Vision as 'evil,' but he is becoming a huge threat.

Hank Pym was right. AIs were a mistake, Vision knows this is true.
>>
>>81523358
That is exactly why I asked if we knew how Vision made his family.

Because I'm pretty sure he murdered some people.
>>
>>81523358
>....Are we sure that he didn't do the same to some random humans to get the brainwaves for his family?
Who his wife is based off is a secret (his children however are a combination of his and Virginia's brainwaves), but he doesn't need to kill someone to use their brainwaves, she could be based on Wanda for all we know.
>>
>>81523411
>Because I'm pretty sure he murdered some people.
Nah, he's probably using the brainwaves of one of his ex-lovers. No dead people were harmed in the making of his family, well not at first that is.
>>
>>81523474
>Visions kids also use the brain waves of his ex lovers

I want to get off vision's wild ride.
>>
>>81523598
No, he explained in an issue that he used half his brainwaves and half of Virginia's, probably the closest a synthoid couple can get to making actual children.
>>
>>81523474
>>81523598
I remember reading that he used Wanda's for Virginia, and combined both of them to create the kids.

The first part might be wrong/speculation, thoug, I honestly can't remember it.
>>
>>81523657
How is that supposed to work?
>>
>>81523680
>I remember reading that he used Wanda's for Virginia
We still don't know who Virginia is based off, but Wanda is a strong candidate, perhaps too strong to bother keeping a secret for so long.
>>81523694
Fucking gene-like memes I don't know.
>>
>>81523694
If it's anything like evolutionary computing, he wrote all the brainwaves as bit-strings, found out the smallest groups of bits that worked standalone, cut around those and stitched together a random sequence with the same length as one of the original ones.

Think meiosis, but with brain-wave quanta instead of genes.
>>
Could someone storyline the other parts
>>
>>81523723
>We still don't know who Virginia is based off, but Wanda is a strong candidate, perhaps too strong to bother keeping a secret for so long.

I agree. Wanda is obvious and doesn't make sense to hide it, if her brain patterns were used.
So I'm pretty sure he used someonelse, but it can't be some random person... maybe Jocasta?
>>
>>81523913
Though I guess it could still be Wanda and be a surprise because a big plot point before this book came out was that Vision essentially wiped all his emotions from his memories because they became too much for him to bear because he kept seeing random illusions created by his memories that were so distracting and real that it led him to accidentally saving an illusion instead of a child trapped in a school bus that was in danger..
>>

I love it
>>
>>81511833
Why would killing him be considered bad? I mean he's some living-weapon tier asshole so every competent lawyer could argue that killing him is the only possible form of self-defence against this guy.
>>
The over-simplification of P vs. NP is weird if you know a bit more about it.

Meaning that if someone found out how to solve a NxN sudoku in polinomyal (fast) time, Vision wouldn't turn evil.
>>
the x men are a paramilitary group that deals with mutant issues, but this concerns them because Vision going all Ultron is a threat to all living things on earth, including mutants.
>>
>>81510470
So who's the ghost chick?
>>
>>81524306
If you found a generalized Sudoku solution in P, then it would be P. It's not like he's saying solutions known to be NP cannot later be found to also be P. That happens all the time.

He believes that the creation of a stable family is an NP-complex problem that is not solvable in deterministic polynomial time (whether he believes the human solution is extra-deterministic, perhaps even divine, or if he just thinks evolution brute forced a working solution is left to the reader's imagination). And so where before he was searching for a clever algorithm for a stable, loving family, he is now attempting to brute-force a solution.

Which is really just an analogy to him saying that he thought he could analyze the solution and figure out a problem using logical means, but now that he believes he can't he doesn't care and is going to do whatever it takes regardless.
>>
>>81524833
Agatha Harkness. She's a witch.
>>
>>81524857
Well, yeah, I was saying that in case P==NP, there would be a chance that his problem is NP-complete, and thus reduceable to be solved like Sudoku.

Also, I'd argue that family happiness would be outside NP. I forget, does NP include impossible problems, or does it have an upper complexity limit?

It's two giant leaps of logic, but given the comic's usual regard for science and logic, I entertained them.
>>
>>81525028
There is ALWAYS a chance for an NP problem to be P-complete. If you can prove otherwise even once then you have proven P != NP. He has not PROVEN P != NP, but he BELIEVES P != NP because he believes he has a counterexample. It is a leap of logic and a leap of faith.
>>
>>81524301
We've made that point in most of these threads.
Virginia wants her perfect little life, and a supervillain's corpse and the subsequent murder trial disrupts that, even if it would be a simple matter of self-defence.
Of course, the coverup is rapidly proving to be worse than the crime, but such is this comic.
>>
>>81512412
>He isn't capable of taking on the Avengers all by himself
I don't see why not. Ultron is, and at this point Vision has surpassed Ultron.

>>
>>81511703
He's in ANAD Avengers. First two arcs were about Vision actually being under Kang's control as he was sabotaging the Avengers behind the scenes. So, y'know, there's precedent for them to be kinda weary of post-Emotion-wipe Vision.
>>
>>81523439
He could have slyly copied Wanda's brainwaves when he announced to her he was removing his emotional memory.

He probably only took the bits of Wanda he liked and maybe added some Carol (thus making Virginia the first Wanda/Carol interaction in years), that, mixed with Wanda's depression and "dual nature" is a recipe for fuck-up central.
>>
>>81511017
No, that'll happen at the end of the story. Next issue is a flashback to Vision and Wanda's marriage, then the final 5 issues after that will be about Vision vs. the Avengers. The house getting burned down will presumably happen at some point during that arc.
