Hunter x Hunter will be replacing Parasyte starting April 16 at 1am. Yes, this show has about 150 episodes, so get hype for a stagnant block.
Parasyte will be replacing Kill la Kill starting April 16 at 3am
A brand new season of Samurai Jack is being made for Adult Swim Toonami. A sneak peak will be shown at the Annecy Festival in June.
Adult Swim is funding TWO new 6 episode seasons of FLCL. Expected release is late 2017/early 2018.
Despite being a holiday weekend last week, the ratings were excellent, debunking Demarco's theory that holiday weekends bring bad ratings with the normal lineup. This weeks numbers were kind of weak. While they were lower than normal, they stayed more consistent than they usually do. Maybe people were so upset over the April Fools joke that they couldn't make themselves tune in for Toonami.

Bravo DeMarco!
Nice ratings neo Toonami Tom approves
Fuck me I haven't watched in over a month. My bad familia.
Final Four stuff killed it.
Also who else got a pin recently?
>>81484366
don't joke about that shit
Did anyone actually like Parasyte?
I'm not saying I hate it but I'm curious
HunterxHunter looks fun.
>>81484861
only for the memes
>>81484932
Its good but toonami doesn't need another long running shonen.
>>81484146
I know Hunter x Hunter is 150 episodes, but keep in mind with the brand new Samurai Jack (and FLCL eventually) on the way, I'm convinced that they might push Hunter x Hunter back for space for their new shows.
>>81485136
I'd hope so.
The last week before this webmb gets stale.probably is already
>>81485136
Wow and we only have to wait 6 months and 2 years respectively for that
>>81484146
>Yes, this show has about 150 episodes, so get hype for a stagnant block.
Welcome to the last 20 years of anime on adult swim and cartoon network. Enjoy your stay.
>>81484341
>even Toonami General Guy has stated that he is debating whether or not to continue
>>81485297
much sooner than that for Jack, anon. They said a sneak peek in June, so going by the norm it means we'll probably get episodes released in August.
>>81484341
Toonami for life. Toonami forever.
>>81485349
So 4-5 months then, what a huge difference
>>81484146
So what animes would you like to see on Toonami?
>>81485375
it's still a difference.
>>81485380
My Hero Academia
Noragami
Anything by Bones really.
>>81484146
Since some of you guys lack any perspective, think of it like this.
DW is replaced in June and Champloo in July. Assuming a 20 something show for each series, the earliest that we get new shows after that is January/February.
We very well could finish Thriller Bark before the we get new shows after DW/Champloo
>>81484341
>no Log Horizon
It was fun posting with you all
>>81484966
Thanks for looking out for me anon, but I think I'll be okay.

>One Punch Man (fuck you it has action that's what Toonami is all about)
>Jojo
>Wakfu
>Space Dandy S3
>Symbionic Titan S2
>Young Justice Omega
>Studio Trigger Power Half-Hour: Galaxy Patrol Luluco and Ninja Slayer
>>81485597
I wouldn't be worried so much if they actually increased Toonami's time slot. Seeing their absolutely packed schedule now, the least they could do is open up some fresh air.
>>81485443
I like your list anon.
>>81485607
Wakfu is an excellent show, but I don't think it thematically fits with Toonami. Also, the dub is atrocious.
>>81485597
No, it's just that we're a smaller voice than we think we are.
TFW no JoJo on Toonami
Quick question: Seeing as how HxH is a long runner, should it receive a FAQ in the opening post of Toonami General? I mean, we've had One Piece and Naruto ones before, but those were just to bring newcomers up to speed since we were starting in medias res and they're pretty outdated now.
>>81485687
Dub's alright, the show is more suited for regular CN than toonami IMO
>>81485597
My FAVORITE part of this whole mess is
>people going to his Ask and telling him they are switching to illegal, high quality streams because all these long runners are shit
>REEE YOU ARE THE GUYS KILLING ANIME WHY WONT YOU EAT THIS BOWL OF SHIT I GAVE YOU
He is such a jackass, his actions are driving people to go to those streams
Kinda wish they would add in another hour. Think the ratings have been strong enough to expand again. At least a hour would allow rerun of Parasyte Maximum, and a new show.
>>81485770
>opening post
Kek, that's a meme buddy, it never gets updated. OP got one because we started 200 episodes in and Naruto got one because we skipped half the original series. HxH is starting on episode 1, doesn't need it anyway
>>81485802
Why would publicly announce that shit though?
>>81485857
Duly noted.I wrote the Naruto one, to be honest. Was just checking if I needed to work again.
>>81485806
Adding any time is a waste unless it goes in the front. And Family Man does too good there to be moved
>>81485802
>He is such a jackass, his actions are driving people to go to those streams
>implying the inconvenient timeslot, dated content, lack of variety, and additional audio options (subs) offered by streams haven't already been doing that
For example HxH has been on Netflix for a while now, this was always inevitable.
>>81485892
Who knows? Someone straight told him they were switching to Kiss Anime, so I'm sure being retarded is a factor
Still funny though that he blames the leaving viewers for not accepting shit
>>81485597
I'm so salty to the point where I just don't give a fuck anymore. He's out of his mind if he thinks that people are gonna put up with all these long ass shows. People are gonna peel the fuck out and just watch the shows online and Marathon them instead of struggling week after week with the same drivel. DeMarco is really counting on the [as] comedy runoff to help buffer the ratings but at this point TOONAMI has lost all its integrity, and instead of being a block that shows niche interesting shows they just air what is hype then call it a day.
I'm fucking bitter because all this time I was waiting to get TOONAMI back and now that it is back it is just this soulless incarnation. We aren't even in a fucking ship anymore were on some goddamn planet. Jesus fucking Christ the NeoToonami guys who had an absolute shoestring budget has a proper ship, proper TOM, and aired interesting shows.
Last I had shit luck any thing Toonami related. First I find out that I got a pin but my package was ripped so I never got it and I can't get a picture of it so they can send me a new one. Then my power went out before Toonami started.
>>81485985
True, but there are people who put up with Toonami just for fun. Those people are leaving now too
>>81485340
Shit are we gonna have to find someone new for the generals?
>tfw looking forward to seeing Hunter X Hunter for first time
Feels good man
>>81485597
I remember someone in these threads was defending DeMarco, saying that he didn't get to be vp of whatever by random acts or something along those lines. My point being that people actually defend his actions.
>>81485802
This edits never get old, I hope anons don't stop with the oc
>>81486037
>instead of being a block that shows niche interesting shows they just air what is hype then call it a day.
So, just like the original Toonami?
>>81486037
DeMarco and CO got too comfortable, having a shit budget meant taking risks, but now they are playing it safe.
>>81486298
Yeah it's a bit different than other shonen on Toonami. Bleach was already a staple of the [as] and for a long time was viewed as a necessary evil for ratings, and Naruto and One Piece's announcements were both met with derison because "legacy block" and people already knew about the filler stuff beforehand.
>>81486358
Certainly some of the best OC in recent months.
With Parasyte ending they will probably slow down though unless we get another death heavy show to replace DW or Champloo
After seeing this post on his AskFM, I have a bit of hope.
Ideally that slot or one of the corresponding slots becomes a new fresh slot open for more niche shows.
>>81484341
Hunter x Hunter doesn't really change anything for me. I've really only been watching the first hour, or so, of Toonami for a while now. Started with DBZ and Kill la Kill, then DBZ and Michiko and Hatchin, then DBZ and Akame ga Kill, and now DBZ and Dimension W.
The 1:00 slot change doesn't really affect me, so I'm sticking around. I'll probably give Hunter x Hunter a try and see if I like it, but I don't think it'll stick. I tried watching Samurai Champloo, and while I enjoyed it, I just kinda lose focus on TV around that time, so I don't see myself keeping with it.
>>81486607
Why? He has been saying that since the day the block was cut.
Also, if we do get it and it goes at the end of the block, it will just be another throwaway rerun
>>81484797
Pin and shirt.
>>81484146
Not that I ever watch the rerun anyway, but why on earth did they pick Parasyte now? A big part of its success was the suspense, which is gone, especially so rerunning immediately
>>81486505
I'll try to make some, like I mentioned the oc never fails to make me laugh
>>81486650
Same for me. I'm surprised when people watch past parasyte/shamploo
>>81486505
I think I saw one for the PERFECT screencap from Dimesnison W, don't have it though
>go to electronics store
>they're using dbz on all the tvs
>yfw HxH goes over at Toonamania
>>81486986
I'm guessing they want to get their money's worth, I bet the ratings for that slot are either gonna stay low or go to shit.
TOONAMI IS
>>81487439
that's great
Will toonami general die before toonami itself does or is this the same old "it's finished!" Meme? Another long runner, regardless of quality, does seem an odd choice.
>>81488961
Long runner means more money for more expensive picks for short term shows and/or return of movies or more events like Intruder 2. That's one way to look at it at least.
For someone who doesn't watch toonami why is it dying? Is it a meme?
>>81489529
Four long runners on the block will drive a lot of people away.
>>81489110
Literally where did you read that. Find me that source I'm curious.
>>81489529
Toonami isn't dying per se. Its just that the community is gonna be burnt out in the next coming year, unless something cool/fun happens. We have to cope with 4 long running shows on a (technically) 6 slot block.
So you basically need to get invested in one of the shows they are airing whether it is One Piece, DBZ, HxH, DW, or whatever.
>>81484341
See you on Saturday
>all this butthurt ITT
Didn't you all say this is the end when soul eater came on? And when one piece came back?
>>81488961
Well supposedly TGG has mentioned not continuing his work on Saturdays >>81485340
Someone else could step in if he really does call it quits, but it will be hard to find someone with that level of devotion
>>81489628
That was just a best case scenario reading of the situation.
>>81489110
I hate this meme. Have the 3 long runners we already have generated anything besides mediocre ratings? No. All this does is clog the block and allow Demarco to find less short bargain bin shows.
Movies are never coming back, and Intruder 2 took almost 2 years to actually come out after announcement and was subpar at best. The block actually has LESS put into it post Intruder 2
>>81490132
Considering he said after this Saturday, I'd say that implies he was gonna be here Saturday anyways
>>81489110
>movies
Kek
>>81490213
That was back when an awesome 6 hour block you tard. This time around we have to cope with 4 boring ass shows. One of which will literally take half a decade to finish, and the other fucking has no end.
>>81490453
>>81490213
I don't remember anyone complaining about Soul Eater, and the biggest complaint on One Piece was starting so far in, but also not starting near the current dub
See >>81485475 for why people are upset
>>81490526
> block has less put into it after intruder 2
> Samurai Jack
> FLCL
> Samurai Champloo getting saved from broadcast rights hell
I'll take that over the lukewarm state the block has been post-Space Dandy
>>81488961
You know how the last 90 minutes of the block are pretty much just shitposting/off topic/waifu garbage? Up that another 30 minutes, and if the Champloo replacement isn't stellar, add another 30
As it sits, the only slot worth watching is Dimension W. Everything else is a rerun or too long to watch one episode per week if you really care about the show
this is when everything ends when the schedule adds Hunter x Hunter and a Parasyte repeat
i also have a mockup of a new style of these "end dates" images that i'm gonna post in a sec for opinions on
>>81490738
I didn't mean shows, I meant the actual block packaging itself. No banter would be the first thing that comes to mind
Also a reminder, this FLCL reboot was announced about 6 months ago. Toonami is NOT responsible for making it happen, it was happening anyway
>>81490886
here is the mockup
So is HxH getting a new dub? Was the 2011 series already dubbed with out me knowing?
>>81490928
I like that! Your the best tripfag!
I made this for you guys
>>81490928
>>81490886
Alright Kianworld, this isn't Reddit, you don't need to trip to post your schedules here.
>>81491075
goddammit
>>81490926
I agree, the block packaging is as a whole worse. I don't think I've ever groaned at a TOM line before "Where's the walrus?"
I don't know if doing the schedule bumps just became too much, but they were a fantastic part of the toonami personality with the choice of screenshots and music.
http://youtu.be/lZxeVpSWs0A
>>81491292
Quite honestly they were the only reason to watch Toonami over just streaming. Without that personal touch it isn't worth it
>>81491024
how u make that
>>81491075
Fucking reeee he is probably the same retard who posts our OC over there
>>81485475
I actually like the suggestion I saw elsewhere that they could balance out HxH joining the block by cycling through 12 episode series in DW's slot. That way we'd still have at least 4 new shows a year. 6 if Champloo's slot becomes the 20-something episode show slot.
And if that doesn't sound like much, we had 5 new shows last year and 6 new shows in 2013.
>>81490655
>HxH is a good anime
Too bad it has one of the worst dubs i've heard in my entire life, it's a shame too since the Japanese VA is godlike.
Will the block ever air a Fate anime at some point? There are a million to choose from.
>>81491477
at least im not the guy from /r/toonami who tattled to demarco about the leak
>>81491642
>Too bad it has one of the worst dubs i've heard in my entire life
Amazing that you could deduce that from a 30 second promo.
>>81490596
Such an stupid decission.
I remember when they aired some of the Dragon Ball movie during holydays and they did great ratings wise.
What would be the final nail in the coffin for Toonamithat isn't another long runner?
>>81490929
2011 version got picked up by Viz recently, they're dubbing it. It's been a few months since the announcement so they've had time.
>>81491671
I've watched the whole fucking show, it's been 2 years.
I also watched about 3 episodes of the dub and i couldn't continue afterwards. The Japanese VAs nail it with the female voice actors for Gon/Killiua but their English counterparts are atrocious in comparison.crucify me
>>81491814
Toonami is airing the 2011 version, you literal moron. The dub for that is getting a completely different voice cast from the dub of the 1999 series.
>>81491814
Where'd you find three episodes of the dub?
>>81491803

>>81491075
I don't like how the general has an increasing number of namefags/tripfags
>>81491910

>>81491656
It's probably because of that that they'll never air one.
>>81491972

i got my toonami pin from the survey finally

If it's another stinker, then I'll probably follow DBZKai until I either get too bored or lazy to tune in. Only way I'd tune back in is if they started airing the new episodes of Kai or if their 12:30 replacement is something interesting.

It's a long shot but I hope it's K just so I can see /co/ go apeshit
>hunter x Hunter comes to toonami
>we now have four shows that will never leave the block.
What are the chances the creator gets his wife's stuff back on the block? Sailor Moon Crystal when?
>>81496482
That price should be a strong indicator that it's not coming to Toonami them. Funi only gives Toonami it's cheap failures
>>81497233
>the creator of a nip show giving a single shit about a dying anime block in North America
I have seen some funny theories here, but this is on top
>>81497301
Money is money, anon.
The block doesn't have to do well when they get paid up front.
>>81495716
They sound so annoying
>>81497345
I wouldn't be surprised if the nips even know their shows are airing on NA TV. They get a small check from their managers and that's it. The show creators have absolutely nothing to do with Toonami at all
>>81497529
Dimension W is pretty meh
we already wasted 2 episode on House on Haunted hill
>>81484797
I completely forgot I registered for it. Found it in the bottom of my mailbox today.

That's not how TV works.

>DBZ Kai strong as it always is will be worth watching for nostalgia only
>Dimension W is neat and worth a watch
>have no willpower to devote 3 or 4 years worth of time to hunter hunter
>have samurai shamploo on dvd
>never cared much for the pirate and ninja shows
>parasyte being rerun near instantly when most of its watchability is from feels and shockvalue
whew.. things are looking bleak
>>81501112
>news of more FLCL
>get a new short show
>the idea that Toonami will start airing short shows that come out a bit earlier in japan starts floating around
>hopes starts coming back and Toonami doesn't seem so disappointing anymore
>DeMarco seems to actually know what he's doing now
>suddenly new long runner that will last 3 years takes in a slot

well that didn't last long

TOONAMI IS DEAD
We have long passed being saved, right?
>>81503178
sometimes there's a slimmer of hope but that hope tends to die very quickly
>>81490422
>>81485340
It's mostly just burnout and also, while it may not feel like it, we're fast approaching the 4 year mark. Outside of thread banter, I'm sure most of us here have seen every show on the block. While I like HxH, having it and not dropping something else leaves us with the 12:30, 1:30 and 3:00am blocks to work with.

You hear it after every announcement.
A lot of huffing and puffing.
Wailing and gnashing of teeth.
And a week later back to the same old, same old.
>>81491665
But that was fucking hilarious.
>>81505097
It's not the same this time. Typically there is a week or two of audible REEEs then things stop as we look forward to the next reveal.
There are people fully dropping out now. Only time and ratings will tell if it's just a loud minority
These threads always bitch, but most other Toonami communities suck Demarco's dick no matter what he does. Leddit and ASMB have multiple posts about this being a shit idea, so it's not just here this time
>>81505260
We as a general are a loud minority. Don't we usually max at around 200 different posters during actual Toonami threads?
>>81505004
Champloo is counted as a premiere because it never aired on Toonami before. Memes aside, it's safe to say whatever replaces Champloo will be a premiere.
Do you guys think Erased would be a good show for Toonami?
>>81505884
That's what I meant, if a bunch of people here shout they are quitting Toonami, then the ratings come in and nothing changed, it proves it was just a small, vocal group.
As for these generals specifically, I do expect thread quality to decline even lower than it has been. People aren't going to be watching, meaning they have more time for mindless shitposting
>>81506011
No, and asking every week isn't going to change that. It's not action
>>81492588
DBZ KaiAkame ga Kill
Dimension W
Still waiting on Trigun and Kenshin's return.
>>81484146
expect low ratings for HxH after about 8 episodes for a while.
The first 30 or so episodes are world building, then shit gets super real.
>>81505947
Which is true, but there's also no guarantee that they don't throw something else that's """"""new"""""" there again.
Whatever they do, I hope the Champloo replacement moves up to 1am so all the long running trash and reruns is bunched together and easily skippable
>>81506477
Hard to say, we have dogshit Naruto filler gaining on the show before it. Toonami viewers are terrible
>>81506552
>>81484146
I don't 100% understand how ratings are calculated, but I can almost guarantee that dip at Champloo came from people changing the channel because of that grating chink screaming music part during Champloo then coming back
>>81506604
What are you talking about?
>>81485340
>needing a specific person to start generals
You fucking pansies.
>>81506911
That scene where Mugen is drowning and it has yelling old Japanese lady music in the background
>>81506604
Anyway, judging by the small size of the dip, that's just crazy enough that I believe it
>>81485340
Simulator faggit or whatever left to.
So the death of Toonami starts April 16, huh? Damn, it's going to be like watching someone be dragged from under a car.
>>81507471
Death? no
Limping to the barn? ya
From the sounds of the threads, DBZ is alright because it probably got most of us into anime in the first place and Kai really is not that bad with most of the filler out.
Dimension W has been pretty damn good so far in its short run.
But after that ... eh.. wait for the April 19th Ratings thread to see how bad things might get.
>>81507471
>April 9th
fixed
>>81507239
>fast moving thread
>instead of having 3-4 anons mind read each other causing multiple of the same thread we have one specific guy
>other positives are no autismos who want to be special snowflake can make the threads
Other generals across the site should take note. Plus it's not really an option anyway since anyone besides TGG and Temp TGG who make threads are banned immediately
>>81484861

When does stuff actually relevant to the plot start happening in Dimension W?
>>81507649
Nigga back when HSG, STG, and GFG were in full swing, it was random anons who would just copy the old OP and make a new general at either around 900 replies or when they hit pages 8-10. You guys make a new thread every time you pass the "bump limit" even though the thread continues existing for some time after that.

>>81506451
Kenshin is on netflix. Subs and dub, though not sure sure if it's the Media Blasters dub (the good one) or Sony's international Samurai X dub (which uses most of the same cast but in mostly different roles with crappier writing)
I find the "burnout" reason somewhat hollow because it's always going to be someone's first time watching something on the block.
>>81492588
Dandy
Black Lagoon
Parasyte
>>81509705
Are there any major differences?

Sony version
>Kenshin is called "Kenji" or "Kenshi" by his friends
>Sanosuke's name is pronounced "Sanzuki" and he gets his street-name (Zamza) not from his giant sword bur because "he's from Zamza"
>Kaoru and company live in Kyoto, and as a result the Kyoto arc is about them going to Tokyo
>The Oniwabanshu is referred to as "The Oni Syndicate"
>The Shinsengumi is referred to as "The Shinsen Group"
>Richard Epcar voices Hamyo this time, but still does Raijuta
>Richard Hayworth is still Kenshin
>Lex Lang is Seijuro instead of Sanosuke
>Kirk Thornton is Kanryu Takeda, while Saito is done by Dan Woren
>Shishio sounds like he smokes 8 packs a day
In the end it usually depends on which one you saw first.
>>81495989Fool
>>81497259
But anon, that's not always true. Sometimes Funimation sells Toonami the things they overpayed for and desperately need to turn a profit on it.
Also, that kind of money is unprecedented. No anime distributor has ever had to pay that much on a single show before.
