Imagining Zootopia documentary was just released on youtube.
come on and let's find out more about the making of this movie!
>>81448472
I feel slightly depressed just seeing those fucking collars in action.
What a different movie that would have been.
>>81448522
I've always wanted to put a shock collar on my girlfriend, but it's apparently edgeplay because you're not supposed to shock someone on the neck.
>>81448472
Byron is gay, btw.
>>81448557
that would explain these collars.
>>81448557
Who cares?
>>81448557
This would explain why Nick is made with maximum fuckability in mind
>>81448557so are we
>>81448586
I do.It means that I can imagine lewd things that involve him.
>>81448586
>>81448628
anon pls, Byron is not for such things
any pics of judy whit her hat
>>81448557
And he made me gay for Nick. That was his plan all along
Jeesh, hearing them talk about the tame collars and seeing that bit with the polar bears at the ceremony...I want to see THAT movie!
I get that it was probably too dark but god damn that looks like it would have been a gut punch scene.
I still disagree with them making Judy Hopps the main character. It should have been them both being main characters but more of a focus being put on Nick.
His Arc it's much deeper and subtle
So did the stream end with "btw judy x nick is canon now"
THAT'S ALL I WANTED TO HEAR.
>tfw stuck at work and can't have nice things for another 6 hours
>Byron a gay
Oh.
Oh..
They're never going to be a couple are they..
>>81448557
>Byron is a gay man who loves furry films
>His dream was to make Disney produce a new furry film that turns this generation into gay furries
The absolute madman
>>81448709
i felt exact opposite.. man this would be Black Cauldron 2 for Disney
>Nick and hopps
>Nick and hopps
>hopps
>hopps
HER NAME IS FUCKING JUDY. What the fuck was with that documentary
>>81448557
this fucker is now the most happy person in the world
>>81448722
Sorry to say but I think Nick has too strong a character to be the protag and Judy not come off as just another sidekick. It really worked and I feel with Judy as main they both felt equally shared.
>>81448765
The master plan
>>81448765
>it's the gay furry agenda I tells ya
>nah gramps you're being paranoid
I knew it
I told you all
They said I went potty in the head but they were all wrong
Would anyone be interested in a 720p rip of the documentary from youtube?
>>81448873
grandpa it's late! you should be in bed
>not a single black kid in that 70s footage with kids
so the preds were actually blacks?
>>81448940
Yes please.
>>81448940
yea I missed the first 25 minutes.
> that one bitch at the end
> it's not easy when you're not white
The Irish would like a word with you
>>81448940
YES
>>81449005
I always forget how much of a hair trigger we're on when it comes to even subtle shit like this.
>>81448472
That was incredibly interesting. Reminded me a lot of "The Sweatbox" but with even more frustration and focus on the big rewrite. It was all about the film's pre-production without a singel fluffy interview with the voice actors, it's great!
I find it really interesting that the guys at Disney are being so open about the production difficulties and the very dark scrapped version, with their other recent films they've been really tight lipped about these things. Like, everyone knows Frozen went through a million versions, but there's very little of them online and the artbook pretends the final version is the only one.
I really want to see the old version's animatic or read the old script. Too bad these kind of things are never made available to the public. I'd pay good money for a blu-ray featuring scrapped Disney animatics.
>>81449048
okay well SUBTLE might not be the right word but fuck can we take a chill pill
>>81449067
is there any particular reason they don't share scrapped versions? Is it in case someone tries to copy or in case they end up using it in another work?
>>81449048
I'm just getting fucking sick of everyone saying that in America only the white people have privilege and power when in fact America provides the most freedom and opportunity to people of any race.
>>81449005
But the Irish deserved everything they got and more.
Not even Nogs are as bad as Potatoes.
>>81448709
I love the final movie, but the older version feels like there was so much more thought and care put into it. It's also dark in a way you just don't see in animated movies today, which kinda sucks. It would've been awesome but probably a total box office disaster.
>>81449142
yeah, let's forget it existed, this leaves bad taste in my mouth
>>81449142
Absolutely agreed. The original script seems on par with famous Sci-fi dystopian stories, but the release version is much much MUCH more profitable and feel good, which at the end of the day is the real goal.
>>81449171
Screw you pussy, i love that the film evolved from such a dark fucked up premise.
>>81448765
Is his husband Mamoru Hosoda?
>>81449142
what we got gave me warm feelings inside
what we saw in the screenwriting stage in the documentary definitely did not.
>>81448557
source?
>The movie could have been even more of a SJW -circlejerk but Pixar put a stop to it
based Pixar
>>81449142
There's always a chance that it'll get screen time as a prequel, now that the concept has been proven financially sounds.
Shit, they could sell it as a send-up to the Civil Rights Movement.
>>81449200
Remember that it was Pixar that gave them the biggest critique on the shock collars.
Pixar, the king of feel-good and safe movies.
>dat elephant teating entire ice cream scoop
Nick is hot.
>>81449142
>>81448695
AWAKEN, MY MASTER
>>81449297
>>81449307
>>81449239
from the video
>>81449252
>prequel
>even more blatant SJW pandering
>even less chance of hot interspecies snuggling
How does one man have so much shit taste?
>>81449328
>>81449307
>Nick's dad going around trying to get loans for his tailor shop
>rejection after rejection because he is a predator
> that's scrapped scene of Little Nick stepping over a boundary and getting rough handled by that police rhino while his father tries to pry him out of the Rhinos arms
Jesus H fucking Christ he's so much more of an interesting character than fucking Judy
>>81449106
You mean with movies other than Zootopia? To preserve the "Disney magic" image I suppose. Maybe that's why they tried suppressing "the sweatbox" for so long.
>>81449341
got a link to that?
So many screenshots of scenes that were cut in the documentary, someone should collect all of them
>>81449382
blacks can't be tailors!
I want to see Nick and Judyshare a hammock
>>81449341
Oh shit. He voiced one of Judy's neighbors so are they basically confirmed gay now?
>>81449409
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D3pF9owYlRI
>>81449382
I would like a premise variation of this to be Nick's true backstory, it sets him up very well.
Gotta appreciate the bun though, Judy though her perspective and optimism for Zootopia can only be had by someone like her, out of the loop. It's those types that are foolish enough to actually stand up and make a change.
>>81449297
>Kobe
I don't get it
>>81449458
cheers!
>>81449307
Nah, I don't like this edgy badly drawn shit. What I find so fascinating about the older version is that it's still a fun and happy Disney flick that also has these incredibly dark elements, and the casual treatment of them like the scene where Finnick gets zapped.
>>81449430
Nick is not an allegory for black people.
If you try to start assigning races to any of the characters in zootopia you have failed to learn the lesson but they have tried to teach.
>>81449565
maybe in current version, but in protozootopia preds were the lower class
>>81449444
does that mean Judy's pregnant?
>>81449565
In the old version it feels more like the predators are Jews in 30s Nazi Germany. I wonder what was the mayor's evil plan for them...
>>81449603
The lower class has changed throughout American history. Native Americans, the Chinese, the Irish ect.
>>81449538
>the casual treatment of them like the scene where Finnick gets zapped.
Presumably this shit happens to them constantly so they've just learned to live with it.
Some fucking Harrison Bergeron shit going down.
post more byron
>>81449712
Vote Byron for a Gay Furry America
It'll be the best of times
It'll be the worst of times
So pixar ruined Zootopia?
Drag
>>81449677
>>81449538
>manlet in diaper constantly punished for being angry.
man these fetishes are just rolling on the screen.furries are really missingand so do i
>>81448980
If preds just spent their time loafing around, speaking a mangled english, robbing others and living on welfare, that would be the case.
>>81449712
Make America gay again
>That part where Nick is being dragged away by a cop as a kid while yelling for his dad.
>>81449538
Maybe if instead of zapping them whenever they felt any extreme emotion, it could be changed to just anger causes it to zap them.
>>81449780
>ruined
>$800 million in profits
They saved it from the "adult animation" ghetto
>>81449328
You guys are saving that somewhere, right?
oh man, now those are scenes i actually WANT to see.
>>81449852
>I have to have a feel good movie thats cuddly all the way through
Typical Americans
>>81449883
I think either byron or rich confirmed a few of them are on the blu-ray.
>>81449909
>my movies must be broody and depressing like london so i will feel like at home
typical europeans
>>81449909
Dude it was extremely depressing in the original draft. They actually thought that the city was beyond any hope of saving and that nick should just get out instead of saving the city.
>>81448557
Walt is rolling in his grave.
>watching the documentary
Wow the original cut sounds like a total 'muh raycism' SJW fest.
I'm glad we got what we did.
>>81449909
I agree. But they did the correct and profitable decision.
I would love to see alternate stories involving the old concepts though.
>>81449851
It wouldn't have changed anything. The collar is a really dark concept even if it did nothing.
>>81449909
If they left the collars in and all those scenes it'd been a complete disaster, the audience not knowing how to feel about its world at all, and a lot of bashing for the obvious predator=minority and leaving a bad taste. Stereotypes work much better.
>>81448522
>All those animals in the original cut who had spent years dealing with being forced to have their emotions squandered by the shock collars
>The amount of euphoria and genuine happiness they would feel once they are able to take it off
>You will never make someone that happy or ever feel that much happiness
This is why I actually liked the original cut, it's a story of a world gone sour that makes the goodness in the world even sweeter
That collar scene reminds me of a moment I had with my father when I was growing up. I reached an age where he said it was okay for me to take my bike out into other areas of the city without his or my mom's supervision. But he also gave me the talk. The talk of how certain neighborhoods might not be safe for me or how to deal with law enforcement if they ever seemed to be goading me into acting a certain way etc. It was true mixed bag as I learned that while I was becoming a man, I was also going to be challenged by all of the pre-emptive opinions people were going to have of me, fair or not, mostly not.
>>81450040
>Euro-peons
>ywn hang out with Nick all day and be best friends
Life is suffering.
>>81449909
>>81449955
The bantz is real guys can't we get along
>>81450061
I think of that seeing Nick's face in that gif every single time.
It's probably the most liberating victory for him after actually seeing those fucking things in action.
>>81450031
Yeah you're right, it was a really sad concept. I'm glad we got what we did.
>>81450009
Why is anti-bigotry considered SJW?
>>81450009
So who was responsible for this sjw shit?
I mean, I know the original version was darker and stuff, but did Byron or Rich show any leanings towards being massive sjws in the documentary? Or just the "experts".
>>81450100
>Mfw
>>81448557
The gays have acheived their ultimate goal. Infiltrate the largest animation studio with christian values and rot it from the inside. gg
>>81450100
I feel the same way. I don't even want to fuck him at this point. I just want to be his friend
>>81450103
we're not "love and tolerate" kind of guys.
>>81450127
It's the implication that everyone is guilty of bigotry. Basically it would've been another white guilt trip
>>81450119
Listen to them at about 16 minutes when they're talking about the movie. They're talking all about how the movie is supposed to analog real life and be a representation of how racist we are
>People actually trying to say that the predator vs prey mentality is an actual metaphor for racism
It's a film about fictional characters in a fictional world, yes it's modern city setting does allow for social commentary on how they prejudice in their world can reflect our own but the animals are still just animals, the only way you get racial metaphors from this film is if you put them in yourself
>>81450119
Only when they take it to the insanity degree and use it as an excuse to be bigots themselves.
"Oh white people aren't oppressed. That means we can be as shitty as possible to them and it's perfectly justified!"
>>81450188
>pic
holy shit that's pretty
>>81450246
That's why i saved it nigguh
>>81450196
>confusing not arguing over petty shit with
>love and tolerate
we both know there's a difference anon
>>81448557
Why wouldn't he be happy? He's made the highest grossing film of 2016 so far.
>>81450232
I was on that stance, but then i watched the documentary.
Their inspiration for the collars come from a social experiment a teacher did in the 70's with her all white students a day after the assassination of Martin Luther King.
The idea of the collars come from the different social standing of blacks in that fucked up time. So i can say with confidence that the original script predators on comparable to to black segregation and racism to extreme accuracy.
However, the final release is much more ambiguous and is not comparable to one set race.
>>81450217
God forbid we be introspective for a moment. Everyone is guilty of some type of bigotry, even the put upon and the downtroden. The final film shows that with how Judy herself has negative preconceptions about certain types of animals. In the same way that a Native American can be racist against a white person the opposite is true as well. If anything it's not white guilt, it;s human guilt.
>>81450319
thank fucking pixar for that, some of these things should be left in the past and never brought back
So they abandoned the collars because Pixar felt triggered by them? Damn, no balls Disney.
>>81450240
I agree, however I don't see how Zootopia, both as it is and in it's older form don;t show both sides being bigoted and needing to come to terms with it?
>>81450336
>Everyone is guilty of some type of bigotry, even the put upon and the downtroden.
This is not the commonly held belief among the so-called "social justice" crowd.
>>81450319
>The idea came from a SJW coal burner
When i was growing up my parents taught me that no matter how much of a fuckup i was at least i wasn't a nigger.
>>81450388
this would end the second renaissance.
>>81450336
>God forbid we be introspective for a moment
SJWs and their types have been browbeating white people with false accusations of racism for decades. So excuse me If I'm a little tired of the whole bigotry shtick
>>81450375
Don't be SJW, it's good to look back on these vents, even in an animated childish way, and know precisely why we fucking hate it and force it to change.
Do not bury history, show it and remember why we don't want to go that path again.
>>81448472

I'll record it and mirror in the thread later
>>81450319
I think it was done for the better too. These days most, not all, but most bigoted acts or institutions tend to be hidden, less obvious. It's kind of like for example that experiment a white and black guy who were friends did where both went to the same auto dealer, on the same day, and looked to buy the same car. The black guy had better credit and a higher paying job and still got offered a worse deal. Zootopia reflects that ind of bigotry quite well I feel.
>>81448472
>Private
I missed it...
Well the video just got set to private so I can't download it after work fuuuuuuuuckkk

PLEASE DO, YOU WILL BE MY SAVIOR, HOLY SH*T.

>>81450444
It's fine to feel annoyed when it's clear that the accusations aren't solid, but let's not also act like the majority of "SJWs" aren't other white people. The actual genuine statements about institutionalized bigotry made by the actually disenfranchised don't deserve to get lumped in with the other nonsense just because.
>>81449444
What does that have to do with literally anything?
>>81448472
>opened new tab, loaded up video
>"Eh, I'll watch it later"
>vid goes private for everyone else
>I can still watch it cuz it's still loaded up

Since the video went private im screen capping a fuck ton of images, this one is incredibly interesting
Punished Fox, A predator denied his home.
Nick gets completely shit on in this draft.

>>81450626
kek, same here. Going to watch it twice just in case I never see it again

>Mike is like "I still don't think I understand this completely..."
>tfw it is kinda hard for a blindman to read without knowing brailleRegardless Zootopia is the best animated film to come out so far in the 10s
>>81450626
I started the download before the video went private.
The download is still going
>the scene where Morris gets his tame collar and gets shocked for the firsts time in front of his dad Koslov
>>81450542
Final version definitely treats the racism issue with a lot more realism and subtlety, but there's something about how extreme and hard hitting the old version was that I really like, and was missing from the final version. Everything was just a little too tame and safe, and the stakes weren't high enough.
>>81450618
>The actual genuine statements about institutionalized bigotry made by the actually disenfranchised don't deserve to get lumped in with the other nonsense just because.
Yeah, ACTUAL instances of racism should be corrected. However, every day there's a new definition of racism, and micro aggression nonsense.
also
>institutionalized bigotry
nice meme. FYI affirmative action would be an example of institutionalized bigotry so don't start with this "institutionalized" nonsense.

I feel it too hard, that would have been fucking insane to watch in theaters.
>>81450744
Eh, it's no worse then when black veterans from World War 2 were dishonorably discharged at suspiciously high levels to keep them from reaping the benefits of the GI bill after the war. Consider it evening the scales.
>>81450188
I'd probably still want to fuck him...but I wanna be his friend first.
>>81450727
Would you be able to live in a neighborhood with a polar bear without constantly thinking your arm is going to become minced meat, without a collar on the damn thing?
That's what I thought.

>zootopia
>That part where Nick's dad is trying to stop the rhino officer from taking Nick

This shit is too much man.
I know some of you would love to see that fucked up Zootopia version, but seeing this world, seeing the treatment of Preds, i truly want the preys of this film to burn.
That CANNOT be a feeling that want incited from a children's movie trying to aim for equality.

He's not really gay, is he?
In a perfect world we would get a bonus bluray that consists of the unfinished animations/storyboards of the first version stitched together into a rough cut film. Oh well
>>81451251
He mentions his husband in the documentary, which I think is funny because one of the employees in the art department is gay for Ted Cruz and has multiple wood sculptures of him
>>81451005
>we
what do we have anything to do with that anyway if we're not South African or Dutch or whatever?
>>81450855
Anon the dude is pointing out (though in a shockingly poor manner) that black people were cattleed into districts with other poor black people via red-lining. So education, police coverage, and public support were shit because all the funds were coming from the nonexistent bank accounts of blacks living there. Eventually this culminated in several generations of dead-end prospects for a bunch of blacks, leading to high substance abuse and crime rates. Same thing is happening with poor whites in places like rural Vermont.
The history matters not because a person "feels the pain of their ancestors" (that would be the equivalent of me saying that people should give me a hand out because I feel the pain of my starving potato farming pleb ancestors under the British whip), it matters only in how it effects the present. And poor black(and rural white) neighborhoods are examples of this effect.
To tie it into Zootopia, imagine if a prey animal said that it deserved the pay of his fellow predator animals due to the murder of its genetic ancestors. Obviously this is insane and animals would laugh at this person, as they should.
>>81451023
He's just a fictional character, nothing to freak out about
Unless now you want to fuck actual foxes, then we need to talk anon
>>81451296
Well I guess that explains Clawhauser. Neat.
>>81451249
Hey anon, Do you like red. I've got a bottle of white if you don't.
>>81451304
Technically an apartheid type system did exist following the civil war and up to around the 30s
>>81451296
>gay for Ted Cruz
How. He looks digusting.
Okay i love this screenshot i took. There's a character here that garnered my interest immediately.
That pig in the background there, i believe there was an interview a while ago where Byron and Moore mentioned the original villain and Mayor being a pig character.
Is this her? There's a pic next to her, her voice actor for certain, can anyone identify this woman?
Can we headcanon this character as the true original villain to Zootopia?
>>81451393
Oh shit, look at that. Honey the badger was going to voiced by fucking Whoopi Goldberg
>>81451359
>He looks digusting.
Seriously. I could maybe understand if it was Rubio, but Ted?
>>81451252
It's already stitched together after all. Just pick the best pre-rewrite version and put it on a blu-ray or digital download together with other scrapped animatics from recent Disney films. While there's not a huge audience for something like this it would be amazing for Disney fanatics as well as animation students/professionals.
I get here, queue up the video download, read the thread as it downloads, and now am wondering if I even want to watch this documentary any more. Sounds like it's horribly depressing and will ruin my mood whenever I look at the current movie.
>>81451393
Wait, is that Whoopie Goldberg in one of those photographs?
>>81451448
>>81451393
OH FUGG. Whoppie Goldberg was supposed to be the honeybadger. Looks like we dodged a bullet with that one

That one piece of concept art with Nick standing in front of a crowd of bunnies was, if I remember correctly, the first piece of art publicly released for the film back sometime in the first half of 2014. Back then, the working title was Zootropolis

Holy shit, this was an actual scene they did before the re-write?
>>81451442
It's pretty good. worth the watch m8.
>>81451442
11 minutes in and I'm fine so far
>>81451135
It's not reposting when it's in a new thread you silly willy, if not then claim repost for every image that people post over and over again in every thread :^)

How does this guy look attractive?

HELLO EL RATO
>>81448557
you're telling me a gay infiltrated one of the greatest animation studios in the world to make a movie to advance the furry agenda?haha nice
>>81451567
Maybe it was one of the rat animators that likes him.
I hate his stupid, fat jowls, he makes me Ill.
>>81448557
no homo though, right?
zootopia detective game when
>>81451567
He looks like an honest fellow. Like a Snake Oil Salesman, or a Televangelist. Or of course a lawyer.
>>81451442
I reckoned it altered the way I view the movie itself, but I could be an out liar.
Just tread with caution, I guess4
>>81451598
Didn't Cruz say something about wanting to fuck a rat?
>>81451567
hello rat-o
>>81449005
>An asian woman is telling us it's not easy being not white
It must be so hard making on average $10k more than white men.
I was disappointed with the documentary, I was really hoping for a bit of a rundown of the other versions of the film and an explanation of why they were rejected. Instead it took 25 minutes just to talk about how the movie changed at all and was filled with far too much back patting for being oh so progressive.

>Hey man he was in my face!
>I'm in yer face!
>>81450727
jesus that hurt my soul to read
Key point in like a non superhero supervillan is to make it so an entire group of people aren't laughably evil
>>81450727
Legit, that version of Zootopia would have make me mad as fuck with all these scenes.
>>81451677
I really want to know what he was thinking at that moment, of course he wouldn't have sex with Trump but why would he need to make that statement after calling Trump a rat?
>>81450727
Yea, that scene convinced me that we really dodged a bullet with the rewrite. The original script is terrible, not in a badly written way, in the way that makes you hate the city.
>>81451023
>tfw the smug cunt probably smirks when he knows we are going gay for him
>>81451844
Woah baby.
>>81448472
>that scene where Koslov is forced to give his son his shock collar and the soul crushed look when his son is first zapped and realizes this is the rest of his life
>Little Nick getting abused by the police for childish curiosity while his dad pleads for him to be released
Jesus Christ! Call me a wimp but I REALLY am preferring the end product we got. I don't mind seeing it as side material but holy shit that is bleak. Hell, I don't just not want to see Nick save the city, I want to see him become a terrorist and burn zootopia to the ground.
Someone post happy and cute shit, please.

>no eyemarks on the cheetah
God damnit, every single time.
>>81451844
And there goes Benjie's perceived homosexuality down the drain.
>new cheetah recruit
>Benjie gets jealous of the attention she gets
>tries to one-up/sabotage her at every turn
>something happens
>ends up knowing her tragic backstory
>become friends
>realizes they're more than friends
>has to deal with the realization that he's not gay after all
>>81451912
That's unbelievably stupid.
>>81451844
>>81451870
these are some pretty quality OCs, could totally see them as background characters in the movie or as minor characters in a fanfic.
>>81451904
>Byrons plan was to have an impossibly lovable male character that made everyone homo for him so he has more gay buddies
Might as well accept my fate at this point
>>81451870
I can see this guy in charge of directing raids on illegal contraband
>>81451948
>>81451909
holy shit, just realized. Zootopia could have actualy Navy Seals
So if you lived in Zootopia, where would you live and what animal would you be?
>>81451670
I was hoping for more about Nick's illegal theme park. It looked really cool.

It took hours, but I finally read through the whole thing. I am hooked now.
I'm surprised my computer didn't die for scrolling that far into a tumblr.
