What do you guys feel about stop-motion animation?
Any little-known animators you happen to follow online?
Personally I love it, and can't wait for Kubo and the Two Strings to come out.

honestly though, this is all just an excuse so I can post Plamo0's work here.
Thought this man was dead for years and literally found his new channel the other day.
Dude was basically a legend on /m/ long ago before he disappeared.
Spread the love, yannow?

I've always had a fondness for stop-motion.
One of my earliest memories were days spent watching Wallace and Gromit on vhs.

Now he isn't really "little-known", I honestly don't think he's known enough.
Talking about Jans Svankmajer.
I always make some time during the year to watch all of his videos. They're just so fascinating. Still haven't seen Alice in its entirety though.

Those are pretty damn good for an independent production. I can't imagine how difficult it was to properly sync the cartoon on the laptop with the animation.

Everything and anything Laika will always be a joy to watch

AH, I fucked up the second link!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4ifQ_jDJyg

A fairly charming medium that will never deliver a strong enough return to be properly financed during production.
>>
When I was a kid I used to make flip-books and make stop-motion shorts with that Lego camera program.

Anyone remember this gem?

While we're on the topic of stop motion, anyone watch Shaun the Sheep? I didn't even know that Aardman made a movie last year.
Never watched Shaun before except for the shorts that they put on the 3ds.

You were a good kid.

Stop motion used to be a huge meme on /co/.
I wish there were more discussions about it, but what can you do?

Like I said, the guy was basically a legend on /m/ back when he was active. Which was around 2010.
After a certain point he basically vanished entirely from the internet.
It doesn't help that his videos don't have names one can easily find randomly.

This looks like the right thread.
I'm looking for a stop motion / claymation short feature I watched many years ago.
It was an intro to an essai vision of the first two Wallace and Gromit cartoons.
There was lot of weird stuff going on. It was probably one of those shorts were they experiment with the medium and show what you can do with it visually.
I remember a scene when a simple human figure travel round and round on a miniscule planet continuously permutating.
Can /co/ help me?

English is not my first language. I mean:
When you go to see a movie that is not in the general circuit. Sometimes you can see several features with one ticket. The movies can be old, independent or just weird.

Plamoo actually started around '04 or so and made videos on and off.

And after a decade of doing this, dude's really mastered his craft.

A great form of animation that will be devoured by cgi just like all the rest

not seriously, bro
pirates! band of misfits used both stop motion and cg to great effect. i thought it was really polished, anyway.

also the lego movie tried pretty hard to replicate brick films and i think it really showed.

pic related is the boat they had the pirates on against a green screen

'04 huh? The more you know.
Should be surprised that he doesn't have a job in the animation industry, but I suppose that's what he wants.

It has a part of reality that 2D/3D animations won't ever have.

I'm from /m/. I don't know why I'm here but thanks for posting this guys new stuff!

When I was younger I loved Wallace and Grommit to death. They'd always air the movies on YTV. I remember I was so young the asshole robot dog actually gave me nightmares because he was so creepy.

ReBoot's 2nd and 3rd season had an entire subplot hidden in the background about Feathers McGraw from one of the movies escaping jail or something. It was great. Apparently it was really popular here since it was animated in Canada and the third season was possible because of YTV too.

Shaun the Sheep has the best bootleg toy. China made this from an Ultraman henshin toy. It's just so stupid I love it . https://youtu.be/2LdaKQvasKQ?t=334

I'm surprised he didn't get cancer from touching that stuff.

If you remember the year that it aired, it would be a lot easier to track down.
The only keywords I have so far are: planet, stop-motion, and walking.
>>
Not a lot of stop motion fans huh. Maybe I should've considered making my thread during the day.

Produced by the same studio of wallace and gromit before 2000. That's all I have.

It's probably one of the animations they did for their character "Morph" then.
There's a ton of those though. Just search through them yourself. Surely you'll enjoy the journey.

Thanks

It's my favorite form of animation.

Sadly it's really underrated thanks to CGI.

Bump with Soviet claymation, because it ends up in each of these threads anyway. Subtitles included.

Aaaaaaaaaah thank you so much, it has been 10 years I wanted to scratch that corner of my mind.

It feels so good I want to share another fixed memory of my childhood. This one creeped the hell out me (even more because in my culture there's no such folk legend).
