With the shitty New 52 films being crap, will this bring back credibility to DCAU? There's little possibility of them fucking this up, right?

...Right?
>>
It's not the fucking DCAU, Jesus Christ.
>>
>DCAU
I don't think you know what that means.

It's not, but does it really matter at this point?
>>
>>81429523
Yes, it absolutely does, because this movie isn't even in the same canon as the New 52 ones.
>>
>>81429386
>>81429491
Wait, does DCAU stand for "DC Animated Universe" or "DC Alternate Universe"?
>>
>>81429868
The first one but it only includes Timm's stuff.
>>
>>81429364
>There's little possibility of them fucking this up, right?

They fucked up as soon as they decided to adapt this.
>>
>>81429909

Do they have an DCAMU that has a host of DC Animated Movies that exist in the same Universe?
>>
>>81430270
Nah most of the movies are stand alone adaptations. Only two that are tied together that I remember are JL War and its sequel but they are shit.
>>
>>81430428
Not sure if this counts but Batman-Superman: Apocalypse is a sequel to Batman-Superman: Public Enemies.
>>
Has WB completely purged the preview video, or do we have a mirror somewhere?
>>
>>81431334
Is that why they were both so horrible?
>>
>>81430428
JLWar, Throne of Atlantis, JL vs TT, SoB, Batman vs Robin and Bad Blood are all part of the same canon. I call it the NuDCAU.
>>
Man, the past few Batman movies have been pretty awful. They couldn't even make a Batwoman movie without making it all about Batman, Damian, and Talia. And Batman has this awful voice actor now. It's bad enough they fucked up the Court of Owls and Born to Kill storylines by combining them.

They should just go back to either doing entirely adapted material or entirely original material. When they try to combine things they usually suck.

I don't mind them adapting New 52 stuff, but at least do it right, FFS.
>>
I have a good feeling about this one. For once the sneak peek wasn't pizza jokes and fat fucks analyzing the psychosis of the characters.

Also, I'm really liking the animation style. It's weird but I like it.
>>
>>81432368
This desu. I hope the Killing Joke does well and prompts them to go back to animating classics. Imagine an animated Kingdom Come
>>
>>81430029
B-but muh Kevin Connery and Mark Hamil. It has to be good right? They can do no wrong.
>>
>>81432612

I'd like to see an adaptation of Denny O'Neil's The Question series. You know, something a little different from just doing Batman or Justice League stuff.

I doubt they'd do it, though, since it probably wouldn't sell as well as a Kingdom Come or a Long Halloween adaptation.
>>
>>81432612
They need to do an animated Serious House on Serious Earth.

Or a big-screen adaptation, and not completely fuck it up, like they have with 90% of all the DC adaptations Warner ever spat our and nevermind, it'd just be another monkey's paw disaster.

They're spending half this film as a prequel to give Barbara a more important role than just cannon fodder.

This shit is going to backfire so hard. No Barbara/Batgirl fan wants to see this shit. Adding this whole Batgirl prequel plot only throws more salt unto that wound.

They're all DCAU really.

Oldfags may remember after Timm left people still called DC animated works DCAU for several years after. It wasn't until the comic book autists and 'sperglords insisted to put the Timm works (1992-2006) as a separate era of DCAU and presumed a VERY loose canon (even though they really weren't outside the JL/JLU series). Thus it became the mode that DCAU meant the Timm stuff specifically
>>
>>81433251
What is a Marvel cop doing in the DCU?
>>
>>81434855
Tracking Zoidberg.
>>
I have no hope for this adaptation. The best parts of the comic are what's left to the imagination off-panel, and what is explicitly shown in-panel. Animation will ruin it.

Stop with this meme.
>even though they really weren't outside the JL/JLU series

It's not like Superman TAS had numerous crossovers with TNBA which was a continuation of BTAS.
Hell, TNBA had a crossover with Superman TAS too.

You're a retarded moron, stop perpetuating the "all DC animation is DCAU" bullshit.
>>
>>81436105
>meme

Careful. Your newfag is showing.

Their really is no solid connection between the shows. Batman and Superman didn't have a whole lot of crossovers. Even then it wasn't until TNBA and the later run of STAS. Superman and the other superheroes didn't even exist in BTAS/TABR outside sly remarks made by characters sometimes which could be interpreted as casual expressions anyway. Likewise for the early STAS run. It wasn't until Fox lost their exclusive broadcast rights and BTAS was syndicated on The WB that Batman and Superman started to inter-mingle some several years after BTAS started airing.

After Timm left, people still called the newer animated movies and shows DCAU for a number of years whether Timm was involved or not.
>>

>LE NEWFAG XDD
How about you jump off a cliff, you fucking faggot?
>Their really is no solid connection between the shows
> Batman and Superman didn't have a whole lot of crossovers.
It had at least five if you count Batman Beyond. To say there's no solid connection between the shows.
>B-BUT THERE'S NO MENTION OF SUPERMAN IN BTAS, THEY'RE NOT CONNECTED
Maybe because STAS was only made years later. Maybe MCU doesn't count as a shared universe since for its run it has incosistences too?

>After Timm left, people still called the newer animated movies and shows DCAU for a number of years whether Timm was involved or not.
Because they're idiots just like you.

The point is, whether you like it or not, what started with BTAS evolved into a shared universe which is now known as DCAU nowadays, so using that word to describe unrelated movies is beyond retarded.
>>
>>81436807
*To say there's no solid connection between the shows is to be an extremely obtuse idiot.
>>
>>81434200
But that's wrong. BTAS, STAS, TNBA, BB, and JL/JLU were always part of the same continuity.
>>
>>81432525
>Also, I'm really liking the animation style

same wannabe anime style with flat colors they use for every other film?
>>
>>81429364
I'm a big Batman fan, but TKJ never did much for me. That said, the art direction and animation don't look all that interesting either. Seems a bit generic, really. I'm looking forward to the vocal performances, though.
>>
As long as they don't flub Joker's two big monologues during the climax, I'll consider it a win.

If they'd gotten an anime animator they could have had the level of detail that's in the comic.
>>
>>81436807

STAS went on for a full season before "World's Finest" came out. In fact, it wasn't halfway into the second season that the crossover finally happened. They didn't have another one in either TNBA or STAS for another year.

BTAS/TABR are their own separate thing with nothing that really solidifies the episodes with the later iterations the Timmverse other than common threads in their established mythos. I think Harley Quinn is the only thing that ever actually carries over across every series.

And, yes, people did still continued to call things DCAU even the non-Timm stuff. I don't think people started using it when referring to Timm specifically until 2009-ish (about the time Nolan's Dark Knight came out) even then it was used refer to STAS and later stuff (BTAS/TABR and their movies were not included) as part of the loose continuity.
>>
>>81437495
>I don't think people started using it when referring to Timm specifically until 2009-ish (about the time Nolan's Dark Knight came out

I remember now it was when around the time The Batman was airing and people remarked how different it was from BTAS. That's probably what triggered the comic book nerds into "NO! THIS IS/ISN'T DCAU."
>>
>>81437495
>BTAS/TABR are their own separate thing
But that clearly isn't true. Episodes like "Old Wounds" in TNBA go out of their way to explain events that transpired between the series. The fact the fucking show was even called "The *New* Batman Adventures" invites the connection to be made (as does the DVD release, though that's tangential). TNBA's shared art direction with Superman also deliberately reflected a connection, not just a concession to animation production.

But your original point is still wrong, because regardless of whether or not the original Batman series was intended to be connected to the stuff after it, STAS, TNBA, BB, and JL/JLU reference each other frequently, whether it's Superman's battles with Darkseid, Return of the Joker connecting TNBA-era with Batman Beyond, or Terry McGinnis showing up in episodes of Justice League. The connections are all there. Actual plot points.
