Mads Mikkelsen SECRET sorcerer character from Dr Strange had photos taken today, and his makeup is fucking badass.

Reminder, they've refused to name his character, he's just described as being a Wizard leading a coven of corrupt monks.
Supposedly he was refused to be named because he'll be showing in a major part in the infinity war movies.

Maybe he's Mephisto? Or Magus, shit I dunno, you guys tell me.

you underestimate how long those things take to film, they are filming strange now, when it comes out you are going to find out who mads is and be all hyped for his return in Infinity wars and by then infinity is already being recorded.

Interesting that there aren't any motion tracking dots.

Maybe well get viggo mortensen as doom someday instead.
Or christoph waltz
>>
They've said he's some sort of cult leader so my guess is that he's playing a modified version of the Entropic Man and the cult that he is leading is the Cult of Entropy.

One thing is certain, he's not playing Doom.

what the fuck for? Why does he get cast in everything, he'd make a terrible doom.

Not going to be Doom.

Doom's eyes are something you can see. The Mouse would do a proper adaptation of Doom. So they wouldn't make his eyes all messed up.
>>
>>81427278
They would also never show his face.
>>
>>81427128
Really? doom is an arrogant self important cerebral genius. I feel like the guy who rocked the shit out of Inglorious basterds, and was the only redeeming quality in specter could pull off doom better than most.

>>81427378
He's too sneaky and suave. Doom is more boisterous (is that the word?) and imposing.

Waltz has a nice and welcoming face and a rather cheery voice, it's part of what makes him creepy in Basterds. He wouldn't work with a mask, I don't think.

Mads fits the bill a bit better, I think. He also has a slav accent, not a german one.
>>
So...why is everyone dancing around the obvious Dormammu?

Although, now that you mention it, Warlock/Magus is more appealing.
>>

hair is the same, I guess eye marks could be considered the same

he was specifically named as not being dormammu ( although he could be working for him)

Maybe. I think they would go for the Ditko Doom that never showed his face, but was conceptualized to be a handsome man with only a small scar on his face that embarrasses him for not being perfect. (Mads would've worked perfectly, with his European duke look).

They could even pull a Colossus and use 3 different actors: one for voice, walking and face, I guess.

I don't even understand why dumbass directors didn't do this in the first place.
Christ, Vader is so legendary there's a close to a 100% chance that he'll outlive the ancient retards who run WB, and his face was never even shown until he died, at which point he was played by a completely different person then who gave him his epic personality.

BVS is a big dumb movie that thinks it's a serious philosophical political drama, and Infinity War will be a big dumb movie that relishes in being a big dumb movie.

That will be the key difference that makes Batman vs Superman shit and Infinity War most likely mediocre to good.
>>
>>81440752
BvS only has 4 major players, it wasn't that overstuffed. It was outright butchered and filled with sequel hooks.

IW, for being the two endgame movies, won't have any hooks, since they are the target of most of them by design.

Also, winter soldier had 6 rather developed antagonists, and 4 protagonists if you count Nick Fury. It's all about using their time on screen well. Anyway, CW will serve as a training ground for them, so it should be fine.
>>

>BvS' problems have nothing to do with the amount of characters.
I'm glad people are starting to get this. People often cite the "Spider-Man 3 problem" but they don't understand what the problem was. It wasn't too many villains, per se, it was too many competing plotlines. The movie had to tell the story of Peter and the Symbiote suit, and the origin of venom, and fuck around with Harry as the Green goblin, and dig up Uncle Ben stuff that seemed put away for good with the Sandman. So what was "the story?" you can't say it in one sentence. I think that's what you should go for. A story that can be summed up in one idea. Winter Soldier is "Captain America teams up with a small group of allies to take on an old enemy who has infiltrated SHIELD, and is using an old friend of Cap's as a weapon." Now the riskiest part there is the "and", because that means Cap and Bucky's drama have to share time with the "Taking HYDRA out of SHIELD" thing. But it provides a subplot related to the main plot that adds some pathos that story wouldn't have otherwise.

It helps that the Russos are very good at handling multiple characters - Community has a 7 people cast and Arrested Development has 8 (9 if you count oscar). Raimi I think was known for being able to handle low budget effects, so he could squeeze every penny out of it (I might be wrong on this, I honesly didn't know him before SM1), but not for huge casts.

Russos literally built their careers on that. Arrested development sometimes has 3 and 4 interlocking stories in 23 minutes. That's achieved by having really strong character interactions and squeeze every little ouce of characterization from their actors. The intro to WS shows it perfectly. Every single line in it between cap/falcon/widow has a function of showing how they handle relationships, and they do it all in 6 or 7 minutes.
>>
>>81450712
The eye is the iris.

I'd like to see Mads trying getting the infinity stone and leaving the rest of the eye behind. not realizing it would be extremely powerful on it's own. Just because the Orb was just a case, it doesn't mean the Eye will be either.

Even if the eye IS the infinity stone, it's kind of okay, since that only means he won't be able to use it against Thanos, and it gets some exposition out of IW's way.

I wasn't even talking about that, but yeah.

In the first scene you have a pretty great interaction between cap and falcon:
>Some military competitive banter, showing both people's drive
>Cap notices Falc's shirt and asks about his service out of respect and interest
>Falcon notices Cap is having trouble sleeping for being there earlier than everyone (except him)
>Immediately asks Cap how he's handling the present trying to gently connects
>Cap only says good things about the present, like he's a guest at someone else's home and doesn't want to be rude
>Falcon notices he's still adjusting, but it's actually the modern war that's bothering him more than the life-shift
>Falcon tries to connect with him via the mattress talk, trying to help cap without prying too much into his ego, showing that despite having left the war, he still hasn't put it behind him (in fact, in good Cap fashion, he goes back to war since e
>Falcon suggests that he stops by the VA, but not because Cap might need it (even though he does), but to make him look cool. Because Cap wouldn't do it for himself if not as a favor to someone else
>Widow shows up and steps on the healing wound by outright calling Cap a "fossil" playfully, showing that she's abrasive and to the point (towards cap, at least).

Sets up two characters, including the lead in 3 minutes. And still has time for quiet shots of him running around. They expand upon it further at the VA scene later on.

It helps that Marcus and McFeely are also great Cap writers.

Really, the only comic book store I know about in my town is in an old mall that nobody goes to anymore except people trying to buy Magic the gathering and YuGiOh and pokemon cards and the like. Bunch of fat slimy people.

I'm already a huge nerd for downloading them, but you'd have to be moviebob-type deal to go there. I'm not even exaggerating.
>>
>>81453733
How big a town? Even so, its not like Canada where its 400km between cities of over 100k people. Shouldnt be hard there.

If it is...sorry and i get it. I grew up on a farm outside a town of 500 ppl and the only 'city' was an hours drive and had 35k ppl. No comic store there. But this is prarie Canada, unless you are in the top part of Norway i dont see how this is an issue
>>
>>81425949
I wonder how hard it would be not to pick with your skin like that, like i really want to and i know it's fake
>>
>>81453733
100k people. Small town, though. Would take about 15 minutes to cross by car without traffic or red lights.

It's big enough to have 2 cinemas (8 rooms each). but small enough not to have an IMAX screen.

It's just a culture thing. Comics here generally mean Donald and Scrooge and are bought at magazine stands.

It's obviously the Magus. The thing is, the time gem could work if they use it as a device that sends him back in time to found the universal church of truth and these are his followers. And their quest is to get the other stones, leading him to the soul gem next.
>>
>>81454463
But how far to another town? Not asking about comics now but more as ...if you think you have a hard time finding media...

100k to me is a big city. Not huge. Dont want to live in some place close to a mil. I want to be able to walk across the city. Thus far 350k is my comfort zone
>>
>>81454645

It's not going to be the fucking Magus, they're going to do a Doctor Strange villain in the Doctor Strange movie.
>>

Without trying to give much away, it's like a in a 5-way tie for the third largest city in Portugal. Not Lisbon and not Porto, which are considered large cities. and are about 2-3 hours away from mot other cities.

Pretty chill place. No black people, no Arabs, no Jews, no problems. Great fucking weather. Too bad we're all manlets and some of our women have mustaches, but hey, I'd take that deal every day.

The Eye of Agamatto is mostly used as a "magical detective device" in the comics; he can see through illusions, deceptions, read minds, see into the past, and otherwise do occult detective stuff with like a portabable magic CSI lab.

It's light also weakens demons and other evil creatures from time to time, but mostly he uses it as a "third eye" type thing.

SO!

Iron Man
>Talented, iconic actor Jeff Bridges forgettably chews scenery as Obadiah Stane.

Iron Man 2
>Talented character actors Sam Rockwell and Micky Rourke take turns forgettably chewing scenery.

Thor
>Some dude plays Laufey, but Tom Hiddleston as half-villain Loki is all anyone cares about.

Captain America: TFA
>Talented character actor Hugo Weaving plays the Red Skull. Despite everyone's best efforts, his performance is forgettable.

The Avengers
>Hiddleston's Loki is front and center. He's actually pretty good.

Iron Man 3
>Talented, iconic actor Ben Kingsley plays The Mandarin. He's actually pretty good, but they botch the execution.
>Talented character actor Guy Pearce plays the real villain. He forgettably chews the scenery.

Thor: The Dark World
>Talented character actor Chris Eccleston plays Malekith. NO ONE EVEN CARES HOW MUCH SCENERY HE SHOVES IN HIS MOUTH- HE'S VERY BORING.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier
>Talented, iconic actor Robert Redford plays some guy and whatever even.
>Bucky's pretty good, but he's not really the villain of the film.

Guardians of the Galaxy
>Talented character actor Lee Pace is actually kind of enjoyable as a comically-boring villain.
>Talented character actor Karen Gillan speaks with a robot voice and doesn't do much.
>Talented character actor Josh Brolin is in this film for 2 minutes and he is genuinely the worst part.

Avengers: Age of Ultron
>Talented character actor James Spader forgettably chews scenery as Ultron.

Ant Man
>Corey Stoll is an actor(?) and he plays a bad guy.

Is there any hope that Mads villain is actually memorable or good?

his skin under the cracks is also purple, and Magus has the Church of truth thing, that could be used for the monks.

His original story is also that he is a time dislocated Warlock that goes back to the past to form the Church.
>>
So, can we expect a trailer before Civil War, or after?
>>
>>81457337
I feel like it would be weird to go back and put the UCT in now though, after they already changed Gamora's story to not include them. And then put him in Doctor Strange instead of in GotG, and instead of focusing on Doctor Strange villains.
>>
>>81457445
They can easily touch on that in GOTG or they can just rework it so that Magus church is a church for Dormammu or something. Theres nothing that guarantees a faithful adaptation but we know two things.
Time gem needs to show up still

Time shenanigans are confirmed for Strange by Feige.

So many people were guessing Kaluu, but since guardians aren't adapting anything from the comics and are having a standalone story, Magus has become more likely.

Also, Strange has a green gem inside the Eye of Agamotto.
