I feel bad for the Duke character. He's not a bad character at all, but the way Snyder handled his ascension has pretty much set half the fanbase against him. This isn't even a Damian slowly winning over the fanbase type situation either, it's just sloppy how it's all gone down. Putting Duke in the Robin role while it was already occupied by a popular newcomer was just bizarre and foolish. You can't even work the diversity argument here because Damian himself is a minority.

At any rate, Damian's always been Dick's sidekick more so than Bruce's. Any time Bruce and Damian tried that dynamic it just came off as forced.
Damian was never Bruce's other half in the dynamic duo. Tim held that spot and even Morrison acknowledged it. And even then they were partners so having Duke come in now really isn't changing anything. Besides which Damian's been evolving on his own so that now he doesn't really need to be a sidekick. He's becoming heroic on his own.
