How soon until we get Birdman 2 starring Ben Affleck trying to recover from the spectacular disaster that was Birdman v. Suprastar: Dusk of Legends?

Fund it. It would get lots of Oscars and OP's anus would bleed for centuries.

He's already well on his way to recovery. He's washing his hands of Snyder and doing Batman the right way.

2041, obviously

There would be no point to Birdman 2.

He's probably fired. He brought in Terrio after shooting began and really fucked them over.

When Donner changed scripts on Superman and Superman II, Ilya Salkind trusted him enough to accept that this wunderkind director of The Omen would approach the character in a way that would both be respectful (as Donner was an avowed fan) and make money. They argued a lot - possibly more than is normal between director and producer - but they got the thing made and it made huge amounts of money. It was doing new things; it was telling a great story and using new technologies that brought the crowds. A year after Star Wars, it needed to be pushing the boundaries of what was technically feasible, not that they knew that when they started filming.

Donner paid off. The Salkinds fired him anyway, before Superman II had even finished, immediately after Superman hit theaters. Just like that; because they didn't like his attitude and felt he'd cost them more money than was necessary.

When Affleck changed scripts on BvS, he did so because he was working for someone else on a project he'd originally turned down. The time for rewrites was then; he should have taken it on as director when it was offered. He didn't, and his attitude after that was "I'm going to get a new writer who is so obviously my pet it's clear who's responsible for the inevitable masterpiece we make", and later he was seen to be wandering around the set rewriting his own scenes, in-costume. There's no way in hell that little detail got out when it did, just a week before release in multiple serious press outlets, without WB wanting it out. They want him to take the fall for this, because he's difficult.

Yeah, I remember that gossipy headline. A vague quote from some unknown random source on set, right? How likely do you think it was that Affleck was actually rewriting the script while still in his costume, or maybe he was just talking to Snyder about how he words his lines and some grip decided to gossip?

Honestly, the more boring the answer, the more likely. Making movies is a business, it's not necessarily this dramatic back-stabbing cesspool where resentful children passive-aggressively bicker and fight.

Given that he has form and doesn't mind waving his 20 year old oscar around? Very.

>Honestly, the more boring the answer, the more likely.

Just because it's a dick move from him doesn't mean it's not tediously likely. You're characterizing him in a way that's contrary to his established patterns of behavior.

Regardless, the issue here is that they knew a month ago when these "leaks" happened that they were looking at a turkey. They knew it would flop; they knew how the critics were going to write it up, because they're professional movie makers and they recognize bad movies when they see them. It's just that it's too late to do anything by then.

To be fair to him without bringing up gossip, he did indeed bring Terrio aboard after shooting began. The dates are all correct on that one and Terrio is credited - so it's very likely Affleck caused a lot of resentment, not just for Goyer (who probably doesn't care very much) but for literally everybody on that production, because they all had to work around a problem he caused. And for the producers, he's the difficult guy who put up costs.

The fact is, they ended up with a turkey *after* he tried to improve it. You can call it fate - say they had a turkey anyway - but you'll never prove it would have to have happened. All you can say to the investors at this stage is "yeah, we fucked up, we're making changes, the problems are going to be ironed out, sorry about fumbling your investment".

Dude's probably fucked, along with the rest of them. Resentment+investors looking for someone to blame= fired.

Dick move or not, Batafleck was easily

At this point I honestly can't tell wether these threads are made by shitposters hired by Disney or genuine marveldrones.

At this point they are all too misinformed, salty, assmad and desperate to tell.

Not that it makes a difference.

Snyder, pls.
If the movie was any good was thanks to affleck having to rewrite parts of the script in a almost finished film

I honestly can't tell whether pro-DCEU threads are made by shitposters or genuine DCdrones either.

Most DC fans here just wanted a good film again and didn't care for company wars.

Dude, Terrio was brought in before him. If anything, it's the other way around.
