What would the critical reception of this movie be if it was released in 2016
>>81395709
100%
audiences would assume it was a parody of superhero movies
Critics would hate it, audiences would love it, /co/ and /tv/ would spend weeks trying to squeeze as many memes as possible out of it.
>>81395709
>99% on rotten tomatoes
>8/10 average rating
>Critical Consensus: A joyful ride by one of films best directors.
Nothing taken seriously and loads of quips? 110%, 5 Stars, Two Thumbs Up.
Batman Returns on the other hand is grim and stylized and has Batman killing people so it would be rated 0/10 trash that needs more FUN.

>audiences would assume it was a parody of superhero movies
>parody
With Today's audience we would call it "The Deconstruction of Cape Cinema"

fucking hell you're right

Did you even watch the movie? It was grim and stylized yeah, but also had some dark humor and more quips and one-liners than almost every Batman film combined.

Doesn't matter m8. If Batman Returns came out today it would get panned for raping Devin Faraci's childhood.

Snyder pls

Now THIS is shitposting
>>81395709
the end of cape movies
>>81395709
It would be mocked for it's laughably bad special effects, lame jokes and dialogue, an incoherent plot, and writing that makes no sense at all.
the reaction on /tv/ would be biblical
>>81395709
Pretty much the same as it got. It has a reasonably strong story but the dialogue is terrible, performances are ridiculous, the sets are ugly and the costumes aren't any better, and it's a massive departure from the three previous movies in the series, even though only one actor was changed (Clooney).
>>81396016
It pretty much was.
>>81399279
>half of the threads would be about how B&R is the most kino film in history
>The other half would be some sort of meme
>People that actually want to talk about TV and movies would go insane and eventually kill themselves
/tv/ is bad now but I'm glad this never happened.

It was panned for raping people's childhoods when it came out in 1992. KIDS in 1992 were crying in the theater "MOMMY THE BAD FISH MAN IS RAPING MY CHILDHOOD *RIGHT NOW!*"
It would still be coming after the DCAU and the Nolan trilogy so the reception would still be bad, if not worse
>>81395709
It would get the same hate it did then. It's not a well done movie.
It is a fun bad movie though.
Batman vs Superman is just unpleasant.

This, Reddit would have "bat credit card!" posts all over the place and they'd be unironically talking about how hilarious it was.
Why do people hate the Bat Credit Card so much? I mean, Adam West had a Bat Shark Repellent.
