>Courage The Cowardly Dog new episode after long time.
>People find it decent.
>Reboot declined.

>PPG reboot.
>People and even their original cast dislike it.
>Full season on the go.

Why?
>>
>>81390435
how did they Eustace? his voice actor died.
>>
>even their original cast dislike it
Source?
>>
>>81390473
He has a much, much different voice. They didn't even try to find an imitator, they just gave him a new voice.
>>
>>81391623
anyone got a link to this?
>>
>>81390435
Eh. Not that the PPG reboot is good, but it's better in the end that Courage was left alone, I think. Let sleeping dogs lie.
>>
>>81390435
>Courage not getting a reboot

Courage is perfect the way it is right now, it doesn't need a reboot.

Its because they couldn't make Courage for a progressive audience. The episode that was released was pretty much like the original episodes which caused some bigwigs at CN to flip out.
>>
>>81391931
One should complain one another is shitting on their plate. Even if you don't have to watch it, it's still shit and should not be tolerated or they will think it's okay.

They got the guy who played the Sicilian from Princess Bride.
>>
>>81391869
Normally, I'd agree with you, but John R. Dilworth's in rough shape and he could've used the work. If a full series had looked even half as good as the short and the few clips he shared around, it might have been worth it just to put him at ease.
>>
>>81391988
Yeah it was pretty sad that his dirty birdie kickstarter failed miserably

The guy was trying to drum up attention on Twitter with hashtags and shit despite having fuck all for followers at the time.

It was so depressing watching him trying to salvage a project that clearly had no chance in the first place.

I'm still amazed that while it ended up getting cancelled too, the Longhair and Doubledome Kickstarter ended up getting more pledges then Dilworth's.

Why would you want it rebooted? It was perfect the way it was, and do you really want CN to fuck with its message of not everything is monstrous and bad, even if the creature in question is scary or hideous in outward appearance?

Unless Lakewood Plaza Turbo gets greenlit for a show, 2016 will be a very bad year for CN.

i think that has been greenlit but for some reason they put it out first as an app game. even then that pilot is years old. same with royals, hell WBB even. they don't have ANYTHING new.

Another thread confirmed Uncle Grandpa is getting canceled, so that's one less original show. More room for reboots eh?

Merchandising. PPGs have always been one of Cartoon Network's best brands. They're trying to reinvigorate it for the lucrative youth market instead of just college backpacks and ironic lunchboxes.
>>
>>81401985
Well, it looks like the Ben 10 reboot found a new spot.
>>
>>81402043
But they already have AT and SU for that. Why dig up a corpse and put makeup on it?
>>
>>81402043
does craig even see a dime of those profits? i doubt it.
>>
>>81402122
Nope. CN owns the rights to the show which is how they got the reboot up and running in the first place (Notice how Craig's name has yet to appear on the reboot?).

So while CN lines their pockets, Craig loses his show on Disney.

it is because of disney that he isn't involved, though, CN did contact him first. shame. regardless craig is going to pitch his next thing to disney... that says a lot about what he thinks of CN now.

this

it's all about the merch, the reboot's basically an ad campaign

it's actually a pretty smart move business-wise since it probably doesn't cost a lot of money to produce and they're still introducing the franchise to a new generation
>>
>>81390435
I prefer it be left alone. Faggots these days would rather watch shit like Steven Universe anyway.
>>
>>81401569
>>PPG premieres
>>"Have a week of new episodes!"
To be fair, that seems to be of the norm for premiers, so that when they do reruns the next week they have about 5 episodes to work with instead of just say 1 or 2.

I'm fairly certain they did the same thing with We Bare Bears and Uncle Grandpa.

I wish we had more ambitious cartoons like Courage.

It really used the medium of animation to an extent that's rarely seen. Very unique looking characters. The blending of 3D, Claymation, and live action with its traditional animation to create a kind of eerie discordance. It was very unrestrained. You have episodes that vary incredibly in substance & tone. Courage always felt like a show that was bursting with creativity. Honestly, I never thought it was the funniest show, but I still loved it immensely because it was INTERESTING. You honestly didn't know what could happen on a new episode of courage.

Someday, Dilworth. The new generation just isn't ready... ready to be scared.

To this day it's because of Courage that I can't find horror movies scary. Nothing compares.

Dirty Birdy only got a little less then 7,000.
>>
>>81402121
Because the Powerpuffs are CN's most successful show in their entire history and thus exploitable for the international market, which is what this show and the Ben 10 reboot are aimed for.

Unfortunately, trying something new has no guarantee of doing well, so it's in the company's best interest to reboot old cartoons from the 90s (which has become insanely popular in the last few years as millenials have been talking with their wallets) and renewing fan favorite shows that are also cheap to make (like TTG)
>>
>>81391572
Craig, Lauren and even Tara Strong have stated that they hate the new reboot.

But it's mostly because they got replaced.

out of all the cartoon cartoons, courage is the only one they replay daily on boomerang

why is that?

>regardless craig is going to pitch his next thing to disney... that says a lot about what he thinks of CN now

no, it's in craig's contract with disney that he has to pitch his next idea to them before he's allowed to shop it anywhere else

>this bait again

they've been pushing the reboot hard before it even aired.

>>"Have a week of new episodes!"

They do this with every single new series.

They don't want new shows. They have their own Spongebob (TTG) and they will milk it to the end of time.

>>81406850
>current Boomerang

Who cares?

There's actually no way you can watch The Flintstones or any other classic HB show on TV anymore.

Boomerang shows an hour of the Flintstones every night at like 3AM, followed by an hour and a half of Smurfs

>tfw they will never do another season or two of WAC to inject new talent into the network
Interestingly enough, I got thinking about GameShowNetwork the other day and realized they sorta followed the same trajectory as CN, in that they began having a large assortment of old syndicated shows but little to no original content. When GSN was new, I used to love watching all the old vintage episodes of Deal or No Deal, Press Your Luck, Card Sharks ect, but nowadays GSN pumps out garbage show after garbage show, relying on Steve Harvey's Family Feud like it was their Spongebob/TTG.
>>
>>81393612
I love this guy's work and it saddens me he hasn't had another animated cartoon.
>>
>>81408586
to be fair a whole network centered around gameshows sounds like an awful idea in the first place

i think it could work if you could somehow also add video games, card games, and board games in there. and maybe some non-traditional sports like paintball. so a games network
>>
>>81409264
I'm not sure what else GSN does these days besides make shows that die quick deaths, but yeah the network idea itself isn't that great, I mean if you're tuning in you're already more into gameshows than the average person so they're not creating a growing audience there. Besides, all the great gameshows are part of regular networks where average people can watch even with shitty cable, stuff like Jeopardy/WheelofFortune/PriceIsRight that are regular network fixtures.
It's weird to think cartoons were once the same way, relegated to a few timeslots on the couple major networks around at the time before CN was a thing.
