No it was a piece of shit film that had cool moments.
It had this paper thin paintjob of deeper themes it never honestly explores. And any attempt to touch upon them is hindered by how its so grotesquely chopped together. No moment has time to breath, no scene ever has legs. Every fucking moment of the film is so jammed into the runtime it feels like its just shit they want to get out of the way until the next scene over and over until the action happens which is the only time they kinda take their time.
People love making these claims about why folks hate this. Cos theyre shitposters from /tv/, because they only like marvel movies, because they don't get it. No, it is because it is a horribly put together film. And I am not speaking from a comic book point of view. Just from a person who enjoys movie point of view. As a piece of cinema it is not a good movie.
Now as a comic fan it's even fucking worse but that is a whole other can of worms.

Superman isn't the messiah, he's just the latest in the long line of prophets
Kal-El = Voice of God and Superman is depicted as being above the people, not because he is god, but because he has the touch of god. OG, Golden Age Superman is man that has been elevated over his peers and chooses to pull back the clouds for them as a symbol of hope.
The above aside I don't even necessarily have a problem with portraying Superman in this biblical light because the character has spent so long being written and re-interpreted by Christian writers.
The issue is that there's more to directing and filmmaking than just mindlessly copying and pasta a visual motif for kudos. Snyder doesn't make anything of the biblical allegories he draws, the plot of the film doesn't allow any jesus elements to creep through, Superman himself is not a character depicted as particularly passionate about his fellow man the way Jesus is, etc. Aside from these visual elements there is literally almost nothing else tying any of it to a biblical story and that's all there is to it.
Snyder and BvS is an ocean about one knuckle deep, touching on too many myriad things without involving any of them in any depth. Too afraid or unable to tell an actual intellectual story but too pretentious to tell a standard fare action blockbuster one. You can't drown in BvS' ankle depth,the only way to drown in that is in your sleep, exactly what this movie puts you to.

but you're wrong, the whole thing with batman and lex is reflecting the story of Herod and John Baptist. Lex asks for Batman's head on a silver platter, just like the famous painting of John Baptist. In the bible Herod directly has a hand in the deaths of Baptist and Jesus, but in BvS they are fifth worlding it. Batman and Superman can succeed where the old messiah figures failed.

and fuck if you want to continue to dive into the BvS themes, the whole funeral at the end in the style of a specific type of funeral that was done 3 times in American history. Once for FDR, once for JFK, and once for the Unknown Soldier of Vietnam. They also recreate a famous shot from FDR's funeral of a black man crying.
They are trying to connect Superman to these leaders and icons of America for a reason. Just like FDR and JFK Superman is seen as a champion of American ideals. Just like the Unknown Soldier he died in a senseless battle cause by human fear and hubris.

Well, it did feel like there were a LOT of scenes deleted. I hope they go Kingdom of Heaven on it. That movie was pure ass until they came out with the ultralong director's cut. That made it into a decent historical epic. If WB allows Zack to show the 3-4 hour BvS cut with all the scenes they took out, it might have better narrative flow.

What Snyder does is the definition of pretentious, allusions to some greater meaning which are nothing more than that. I felt the same about Prometheus. It wraps itself up in all these deep themes, but never uses them as anything but dressing.
