And now you know why Superman works mostly in Metropolis.Also, some sub-plot about him being discouraged because Louis Lane has a boyfriend. He also decided to be the best human he can be, and stop chasing.

I was going to say this. Alternately, introduce Intergang (with alien tech being seeded to traditional mafia goons) and center the antagonists around the minor New Gods, to serve as a build up to Darkseid's invasion in Justice League.
