How come /co/ never talks about Jessica Jones but can't stop talking about Daredevil?

Because Jessica Jones was put up in November and Daredevil season 2 was just a couple weeks ago.

Because Netflix allows users to consume media so quickly, the majority of /co/ users had watched both series within the first week or two of their release. Back in November and December we spoke about Jessica Jones A LOT because it was still fresh in our collective memories. Just as we're discussing Daredevil right now.

Very soon we'll stop talking about Daredevil again until Luke Cage comes out, which will probably have several weeks of discussion and then radio silence until Iron Fist.
>>
I don't talk about either.

This is why I like weekly schedules. It spreads discussion out nicely. If a full 13 episodes drop all at once I avoid online discussion until I'm finished so I don't get spoiled. And then when I'm done everyone's talking about everything at once. I'd like to do things one episode at a time.

Binging shows is good for catching up. Then you've already missed out on the discussion so it doesn't matter.

That's not insecurity, it's just annoying propaganda.

the standard interracial couple on marketing and massmedias it's the white chick and the black guy, and they put that everywhere.
>>
>>81366008
Bendis created her as a self insert because he wants to be fucked by Luke Cage.
>>
It's not a bad show just terribly uneven and way too bogged down with the Kilgrave cat and mouse schitck. It has a lot of side plots that don't really go anywhere as well. That being said, I think the cast did a very good job with what they were given.
>>
>>81366030

really?
>>
>>81366008
>was the whole race mixing thing intentional or not

considering it was Bendis writing in the early 00's, it was probably intentional to be boundary-pushing. But Cage is a geniunely good father and the couple has been one of the most stable relationships in Marvel.
>>
>>81365896
Yeah, you need to be a recluse and watch them all within the first couple days like the rest of the collective internet.

But here, let's catch OP up on what was missed:
INTERRACIAL DISGUSTING
Was it rape?
Why didn't she just fucking kill Killgrave?
NUKE DID NOTHING WRONG
Fight scenes lacked the emphasis of how strong Luke and Jessica are supposed to be
Patsy a cunt
Patsy a cute
Fuck that religious bitch and her detracting storyline
Harper a cunt
>>
>>81366008

I believe Jessica Jones is actually romantically linked to Luke Cage in the comics. People won't be half as bitchy when it's Iron Fist balls deep in Misty Knight.
>>
>>81366045
>the couple has been one of the most stable relationships in Marvel.

Mainly because the characters are pretty much locked in at their present status quo. There is really nothing to do with the two of them outside of "superhero couple that gets used for team titles". Which is great for people who like the pairing I suppose.

The only highlights were almost entirely tennant with a quick shout out to a cute patsy and hogarths titty monster secretary.

I kind of wish the season had been 8 episodes long to force a tighter script and a higher budget for the action sequences, especially the jessica/cage fight and the last dock scene between jessica and kilgrave. Almost the entire supporting cast was really weak in both story and acting as well.

DD s1 dragged on as well but it has an amazing lead and a good supporting cast that it could carry it, also the action was on another level.

That was one of my chief complaints, the Jessica/Cage fight. They're both supposed to be these super-strong individuals and they just couldn't illustrate the force behind those punches. Like yeah, they both got thrown around and broke shit, but it was just missing something... some oomph.

I think Patsy, Nuke, and Harper were good, but the (forced) drug-addict neighbor and the religious incest twins (especially that chick) were just irritating as hell and detracted from the overall plot. I get why they made the support group and what their overall purpose was, but it just seemed so forced. They were literally just there to get the plot from point A to B, but not in an engaging way.

Daredevil is better.

JJ isn't a bad series. It's good. It's pretty much in second place when you're comparing all the current superhero-derived stuff on TV right now. But Daredevil is much better.

Liked it in the episodes where she was a private eye.

Dragged out too long with Killgrave. Like, imagine Daredevil S2 with Punisher dragged out to 8 episodes BEFORE he gets imprisoned and the season finale is him finally being in the first day of the trial.

Also echos of "you know what he can do"
>>
>>81366045
>boundary-pushing.
What boundaries? Race-mixing has been prevalent in media since at LEAST the 70s.
>>
>>81365670
Based on what people said about DD season 2 (too much karen why she a bitch, too much foggy why he a bitch, too much elektra why she a bitch. Not enough Daredevil punching, not enough frank, not enough frank) my assumption is this. People dislike JJ because it isn't about big strong men doing big strong man things and lots of action and shooting and punching of things.
It seems like a bullshit dismissive excuse but seriously go to a DD season 2 thread here. Every character that is mean to the big strong hero is an unrepentant asshole apparently. With these long droving posts pointing out why theyre 'bad friends' who should support daredevil. I honestly think that people just want a cape punch fest where the hero is the best and theres no conflict that detracts from their status. JJ is pretty much all that. Theres no grand tough muscly hero man as the main character. Just this bitchy damaged lady who /co/ cannot stand because she isn't the kind of character they liked when they first got into comics at a young age.

Not sayin the show is perfect. Far from it. But based on /co/ it is absolute shit, with shit characters, shit story, shit villain, shit pacing, and full of FORCED elements (whatever the fuck idiots use that term to describe pointlessly).

Perfectly honest you could make a hundred cape shows about women and if that woman isn't having a hugely muscled white hero cum in her face every episode before he goes off to punch a bad guy with 'the raid' style choreography....they aint gonna like it.

For me, the Killgrave plot could've been a lot shorter, and with jessica taking on more jobs that isn't related to him. So far, she took the false job (held at gunpoint with the couple) and stalking Luke's life and those would've helped with the dragging issues.

Also the action here wasn't too good as it was her throwing people to walls for most of the season but it's not a big con as the show wasn't too action oriented.

Hated the crazy sister. Hated the part where red ranger junkie tells everyone that he hid a dead body for someone and no one reacted to it with surprise or shock. Nuke was cool but felt out of place until the reveal that he's partially related to Jones' powers.
>>
>>81370662
>Not Terry Crews

Too old though.
>>
>>81370692
Terry Crews is the best possible outcome, but yeah, he's too old.

Plus I recall he's goine back and fort between wanting and not wanting to play Cage.
>>
>>81370781
He'd be great as Luke in a PG13 MCU environment. Luke in JJ is just too brooding with some counts of catchphrase fanservice.

Can you imagine Terry in the "you made me leak" bus scene? I can't, too many old spice commercials corrupted me.
>>
>>81370692
>>81370781
I think terry crews is great if you want a comedy campy 70s luke cage show. Where the fact that hes this bombastic intense dude is the focal point. But I just do not see the guy having the chops for something involving drama.
>>
>>81370885
Yeah. You can see him hanging out as a cameo or a side character in Ant Man or Avengers or maybe even as Black Dynamite but he's not good for deep drama. Maybe I'm just spoiled by a lot of his comedy appearances.
>>
>>81370885
>>81370867
We're just too used to him being campy, but it'd be a good chance for him to show some range.

That said, Luke should be written a bit less brooding. He's a fun character in general who can get intense and dark depending on the situation, so writing him this low-energy feels like a waste.

So again, Terry Crews would be ideal if he can pull off some serious scenes, Agent Mack would be great if he wasn't already in SHIELD, but Colter is just fucking BORING.
>>
So dull and dour it could have been a DC movie. The way they take the Killgrave plot and explore the villain and the ways it damages the characters was really interesting.

But once the ginger guy is killed they make his murder look like a highschool prank. After they hide/throw the body away/decapitate/ throw decapitated head in the garbage, without any meaningful consequences aside from his sister fucking everything up, it just lost the appeal. Every character after that makes questionable decisions that lose grip on suspension of disbelief leading into a lukewarm finale. And it sets up that any murder wont have consequences in a believable world they are aiming (or used to) in Daredevil.

When you make a deep, psychological scar series you better make sure your characters aren't expendable mongoloids, or it becomes Dexter season 4-8.
>>
>>81371359
*3-8.
Dexter writers started getting lazy after the asspull when Lila kills Doakes so Dexter won't have to decide whether to kill the bastard or risk exposing himself.

>>
>>81370522
I just didn't enjoy the "We got him! We lost him! We got him! oh now we lost him again!" shit they pulled with Killgrave it felt like they ran out of ideas to keep up 13 episodes in the season.

Also JJ is really fucking strong we see her knock people out with one punch kick slap whatever but when shit is actually going down she's punch normal guys with what looks like a lot of force but they just keep getting back up.

That fight with the support group what the fuck was that really? I was enjoying the story but the longer it went on the more I felt that I could see the writers going "Well shit what now? We still have 5 episodes to go."
>>
>>81371359
Also there was a great chance to explore responsibility, addiction and guilt after Jessica nearly kills Hogarth's ex-wife, which causes a chain reaction that leads to everything going to shit in the second half of the season.

But it's never touched upon. Jessica feels guilty for what she did to Luke and Luke's wife, but nothing else.
>>
>>81371788
>That fight with the support group what the fuck was that really?
I thought that whole idea was her making a concerted effort not to hurt victims.
>>
>>81371884
Now it's been a while so my recollection is a little murky but wasn't she at her office to get something to keep Killgrave from escaping and because of the group he was actually able to escape and that girl was going to spend most of her life in prison?

I never got that feeling of her worried about hurting those people and besides we see her knock out that cop that was whamied by Killgrave without a second thought
>>
I think I finally "get" Bendis. I bet the guy really likes Seinfeld. His conversations in comics read like a seinfeld episode. But since it's a comic and not a show, all the timing is lost, so it comes off as annoying and stilted.
>>
>>81365896
I like being able to have all the episodes at once, but it sucks not being able to discuss a show with friends or whatever because I haven't watched all of it

Also an aside, have you guys noticed that Netflix's streaming options went down the fucking drain after they started doing their own stuff? Especially because if I don't want to watch crime drama or "comedian gets his own show" there's not much worth watching of their original stuff
>>
>>81372006

>>

>>
>>81365670
I've never watched Jessica Jones, why does she have a "Who the fuck are you and how did you get here?" look on her face?
>>
>>81370522
god forbid we want action in an action show
And theres a difference between not wanting conflict and not wanting characters to act like dumb assholes for sake of cheap drama
>>
>>81372162
He just said "Sweet Christmas" also she murdered his wife while she was mind controlled but he doesn't know that
>>
>>81372006
Killgrave was able to escape because Hogarth thought she could use him against her ex-wife, who was about to skin her alive (financially) with the divorce, who in turn was only being this vindictive because Jessica drunkenly almost killed her in the metro, who in turn did that because she was being self destructive after Luke found she not only killed Reba, but stalked him and fucked him after the fact.

So uh I think that didn't have much to do with the support group.
>>
>>81372076

Well she was throwing a few people around who were trying to get in to her office when she got nailed in the back of the head with a piece of wood. I mean sure she could have done something to avoid it if she went all out but i think it was one of those 'hero unaware the situation is escalating to that point' scenarios. She probably wasn't expecting to get brained while she thought was was just in some little scrap with a few idiots.
>>
>>81372195
Funniest thing is there are shows that are even less action-oriented than JJ and have much better action when it comes to it, so "it's not action-oriented" is not an excuse for a lousy job.
>>
>>81372090
A lot of other companies are trying to get their own streaming services off they ground, so they've stopped licencing to Netflix.

>>
>>81372379
Ah, yes. Sorry, I'll admit I was pretty tuned out at that point, so I don't remember it all that well.
>>
God her face looks so bad with that nose job.
>>
>>81372242
She ended being knocked out for quite a while which gave Killgrave enough time to convice Hogarth, Hogarth was telling him to fuck of for a while she even mentions that Jessica is taking way too long because she was knocked out.

Either way it doesn't matter Jessica had Killgrave on a silver platter and she's gonna let herself get taken out by some normies while literally one of the most dangerous supervillains around is sitting in a warehouse with a shady at best lawyer?

Jessica was shown to knockout civies for less important reasons that scene was just used to extend the episode because the writers couldn't come up with anything better
>>
>>81372379
Which is even a better reason to just put them out! Jesus christ I forgot about that just god damn I don't hate this show but fuck did I hate some of the shit they pulled.

The way S2's hallway pops off is just great as well, his fight with Nobu in S1 was great as well

Come on. Yes, it was the first, but it's been so bad from the start.

And it's not even about Green Arrow, it's Batman Begins stretched over years, with soap opera romance, intolerable actors, laughable action, and terrible writing.

And no goatee, I mean what the fuck.

Colter is so boring they had to get someone else to voice him in Halo.

I just started watching this, but it's been out for months. Typically, discussion on even the most popular series dries up after a while - doesn't mean people don't like it. That said, I'm not aware of the general /co/ opinion on the series (so far I love it).

I love it when the fights actually mean something too.

Throughout the Nobu fight, I was thinking "Jesus he's getting fucked up! WHY DOESN'T HE HAVE ARMOR YET?". And surely enough, he realizes this and ends up getting armor by the end of the season.

Depends on the team
If flash and/or quicksilver are on the team, they'd be done no sweat
That kind of story actually happens sometimes, where some lust demon supervillain enslaves all the guys and then one guy just happens to be immune
Or the reverse with female super heroes

It wasn't that good.

Starts out weak. Builds up well in the middle. Fucks up the conclusion. Keeps going for four episodes after it should have ended.

Immensely unsatisfying show. Would be straight up bad if it weren't for the villain.

There's a distinct lack of Frank

I am the complete opposite, I love the netflix method and will often wait for a few episodes of shows like Arrow and Flash before I watch them all in a large chunk.

I am not really into discussing these shows with other people on the internet though, if that is important to you I can see where the netflix way is shit, it can be almost impossible to talk about it with people because everyone is in different places.
