I'm trying to wrap my head around the concept of a R63-verse. Something like Doctor Who comes to mind - an eccentric alien leading a laywoman with an open enough mind to space-time fuckery on adventures (think Mulder/Scully dynamic to put it more "down to Earth"). The tricky part is how you transition vital components of Star and Marco's characters to counterparts of the opposite respective gender.
The difference between a lazy R63-verse and a compelling one is how much the AU character stands out as their own character than a simple counterpart to an existing character. It helps to shine light on the original 'verse while also expanding its ideas and concepts. So how do we make Comet and whatshername their own characters?

Many artists draw Comet as a femenine dude and I feel that is missing the point and that takes me to your issue.
If a good genderbent not only changes the gander but finds an equivalent in the opposite gender of the traits of the character and that makes the genderbend character stand out without being a copy.
Star is femenine and quirky, Comet should be Manly but I dunno what will be the masculine of a quirky girl, maybe a geeky dude?.
Marco is a guy that plays safe, Marcia (?) should be a passive girl.

Honestly though, the trick is to just remind yourself over and over that it's a game, a form of entertainment. Anyone who is mad enough to seriously grief you is quite literally doing the activity wrong. Moving into ranked play is just the natural progression of that mind set; but recognizing that it is more competitive at that point and your mindset should be more focused as a result, nothing more than that. If someone pipes up, just mute them and move on with the knowledge that they're doing the entire activity wrong still. The way ranked is structured is that it will put you into a zone eventually where your improvement will fit the games you're playing, it's an inevitability sort of thing. So even if you lose a lot, it's fine. It'll eventually even out and meaningful improvement can begin.

Yep, HotS looks really fun, but unfortunately I think it would be too demanding for my old & busted PC: the only way for me to have 40-60 fps in LoL is to set the graphics to "very low"!

As for ragers you just have to focus on yourself, not them. It works in the reverse position too when you're annoyed at someone and you begin to type, a quick affirmation that what you're doing is utterly pointless is enough to clam the situation down. Or even change it to be more constructive, then if the person takes it as an insult you're in the moral high-ground as the mistake is one their end.

Basically I have it but cant upload since my computer is so busted that I cant get it to read an SD card and unlike pics that I can upload no problem directly from the 3DS, gifs cant be uploaded.
I can do a very annoying work around tho, I can technically upload every single frame individually as JPG files then take them all and make a gif.
I did so for the little test animation I did, you can see its horribleness in pic related
But I dont see myself using that to upload more complicated animations, it would take FOREVER.

I could hardly contain my happyness as I was imputting it!
... Only to find out to my horror the code didnt work at all on an eshop that was not from the US... the ONE code that didnt work... was the only one I wanted...
I almost cried, and I was sad over it for almost a year, then This past thursday "My Nintendo" service was launched, and which one is the only totally free to redeem reward to anyone that uses the service is??? FLIPNOTE STUDIO 3D!! ITS FINALLY MINE!
I waited so long... I am so happy! I am gonna use the heck out of this thing even if all I make looks horrible!

Almost assuredly, the regular fandom is likely just Starco. There was some seriously great stuff on there, a lot of Tom which is the big character the normal fandom is much more partial too. Surprisingly there wasn't a huge amount of Janna, a good amount of Jackie though and some a good deal of Brittney art. Honestly, it makes me really anticipate season 2 as there will likely be even more artwork thanks to the increased episodes, interest and character development. I originally wanted to draw scenes from fanfics/greentext for /sveg/, In fact I drew something for the first time in like 6 years to do a terrible pic for one of WF's fanfics. but I always felt I didn't had the skill to properly do any scene justice and failed at it.
The difference is that I really dont care if any animation I make ends looking like poop, I am just happy to be able to make them! so is more realistic to me to do bad looking animations of /sveg/ inspired content than do bad looking pictures.

Fun fact about that test animation, the first frame I drew during the tutorial, thats why its so bad, I've been told that the animation looks like i was learning how to draw in the darn thing since the last frame is so much more detailed than the first one, haha!
I dont really aim to improve at animation, I am just happy to be able to do it since the wish to animate is something that I have had for almost all my life.
Here comes another life story that you dont care about! again if you read past this point it means you care! dont blame me!It all started when I was around 7, I had a schoolbook that had something peculiar about it, in the corner of every page there was a little drawing of a stick figure holding a ball, then one day I learned something magical, if you flipped the pages quickly that little stickman started MOVING! and it bounced the ball and it jumped and scored on a hoop!
My little mind was blown, and I was so facinated by it, I would sometimes get scolded in class because I would flip the book pages over and over and not pay attention, then I started drawing little figures on the corners of my notebooks just to try to animate them, even one was just a line that moved in circles slowly as you flipped the pages.
Then I would buy little notepads just to draw very crude stick figures and try to animate them, then when I got a computer with windows XP I used to do little animations using MS paint and Windows Movie Maker, it was all as awful as it sounds.
Finally I learned about the DSi Flipnote Studio and thought it was my dream app, I learbed about it once rumors of the 3DS were already out so I didnt had the luxury to buy more than 1 handheld so waited for the 3DS in hopes it would be compatible.
In the end the original Flipnote was not compatible, but an upgraded 3DS version was announced! and you all know how the story goes after that.
Yeah, I always wanted to just animate, I dont care what or how it looks.

It's interesting, Just like with art I never in my life have taken an animation class or looked at a guide or anything, I am completely self taught and do it out of pure fun and I guess love.
But with Art I feel I should do better and get sad at the lack of my skill to reach acceptable results, and I always wonder if trying to actually improve would drain the fun of it.

Well I think some background characters are going to have to play into supporting roles as the series progresses, at least in the earth episodes that is. Given the comedic nature of the show, Sabrina would be likely to play a part in any episodes focused on the spirit committee. That's how it all starts, as was the case with Janna. Honestly, there's a real chance for some character shuffling about in the background-supporting cast, personally I hope Marco gets some rapport with guys at the school who aren't Alfonso and Ferguson. Likewise for Star with the most female persuasion.

I'm fairly sure the original background fan favorites were Jackie and Janna from pre-release screenshots, lots of debate if one of them was the "jackie" mentioned on that storyboard test.
Then when the series began Maybe Hope had some popularity, then all got stollen by Chantelle until Chantelle was finally utterly defeated by Janna.

That's understandable, I know the feeling all too well of finding what comes out on the paper not being what you actually intended in your head. The thing is, I could see Marco blurting it out, that's a very Marco thing to do when getting frustrated with Star. My issues was really with his clumsy attempt to justify it to the class, from what we know of Marco at school he'd much more likely clam up completely, especially in front Jackie, which opens up other avenues for comedy. Yeah that's certainly a solid option, I think Marco only really loses his cool and blurts out things with Star, which I was thinking about in this scenario as Marco forgetting where he is as he gets increasingly flustered in dealing with Star thus leading to the explosive response and then reality coming back down on his head. I'd love to read another version of it if you felt the need, but you don't have to as it's not wrong as such, it's just my differing opinion.Perhaps it's just a Britbong thing, our class room bants are top tier so in this scenario I just imagine what it would have been like back then.
