So what happened? What made everything fall apart in 2006 after ending the 90's on a highpoint?
It's one anon spamming the same copypasta.

It wasn't just cartoons, everything media went to shit.
>Scifi moved to wrestling and reality shows
>TLC went from documentaries to freakshow reality shows
>Mtv and VH1 stopped showing music and moved to celebrity reality shows
>G4 only showed Cops reruns
>History Channel is all aliens and shitty job reality shows
>Adult Swim started airing live non-toon stuff
>Nearly every themed cable channel stopped showing things related to their theme, scifi, G4, Tv Land, anything music- all reality shows or marathoning a single show all day.

>Mtv and VH1 stopped showing music and moved to celebrity reality shows
that happened way before 06
It wasn't 2006, it was 2007. >>81349012 is also on the money, pretty much all media went to shit then. It was a combination of changing tastes and the global recession straining funds for pretty much everything.
Crank That Soulja Boy was the number one hit that year, the Boston Bomb Scare made CN's head executive resign, Halo 3's and COD 4's massive media blitz propelled video games into the mass market, just as a few examples. 2007 was the beginning of the shit that was to come.

07 was when Cartoon Network started airing live stuff. And I think Toon Disney changed over to Disney XD and also aired live stuff.
But combination of recession killing budgets, writer's strike leading to lots and lots more reality shows, everyone started getting highspeed internet and could actually stream online stuff just killed ordinary media.

Oh look it's this thread again
By the samefag that keeps making it every fucking day every fucking week
I think you mean 1966.
This is actually really interesting as a part-time /a/ fag because 2006-2007 are considered some the best and defining years of anime

Yeah, anime really helped tide me over the late-2000's. It was really refreshing compared to what was going on in the West at large during that time.
2006 is when anon attained puberty and stopped watching cartoons.

>Toon Disney
That was 2009.

>It was really refreshing compared to what was going on in the West at large during that time.
I agree. November 4, 2008 had to be one of the single worst days in American history. We'll be a long time in recovering from the tragic mistake we made that day.

Amusingly, 2006-2007 is when anime died in the states.
