In seriousness there's nothing inherently closeminded about resisting mob rule and propaganda when you feel or know it's wrong

True, thinking it over, I think close-minded is not the right term, but sometimes, if the whole world is telling you you're wrong, it just might be you are actually wrong. Not even acknowledging this possibility, planting yourself in the ground, is not very wise.
>>
>>81311351
DOesn't Miller want tp write a Cap story?
>>
>>81311376
I never expected him to write a good Cap. Kind of reminds me that Garth Ennis can write a good Superman.

This is pretty much the definition of being an ignorant fuck. It's pretty american. But is just terrible.

Might be, but that's not always the case. Getting caught up in sensationalism and a mob mentality isn't a good way to go either.

Captain Boomerang is fucking badass Jesus.

What could he do if he had a real weapon? We need a What If story where he gets a Laser boomerang or something.

This issue was an amazing look into Boomerang, first he just kills this kid and jokes about it and then he lets a team mate die because she made everyone laugh at him.
>>
>>81311488

Just the thought of facing down one of the most powerful super heroes in existence, with one of the least impractical weapons ever, that is extra super impractical since it's slower than the guy he's trying to hit is amazing.

Where is my Captain Boomerang kills the DC universe?

Speaking of which . . .

>>81311507
He's written at least one Superman story, IIRC (the one where he tries to train Sixpack the Drunken Hobo to be a true superhero instead of a homicidal drunk in a costume).
>>
>>81311556
To be fair, when you're the Flash, every weapon is too slow to hit you. Might as well pick the one that's the most fun at that point.
>>
>>81311507
I don't think so, but then again, Frank's never done a Captain America story aside from cover work.

Also, while I know I perfectly summed up Superman already, here's one that covers both him and his supporting cast.

CAPTAIN Boomerang was always a Flash villain (stints in the Suicide Squad notwithstanding). Marvel's Boomerang started out as a Hulk villain, but later gravitated toward Captain America, Daredevil, and Spider-Man.

Of course not in most situations. Although sometimes just hearing it from somebody can be enough albeit not if you're already on a ledge. You ever call a suicide hotline by the way? It'll ring for up to a minute sometimes and then they'll typically be short with you and sound like they're rolling their eyes. Almost always young girls and maybe it's just a resume builder or some shit since it's obvious they don't give two shits or really even listening.
Fun fact: Seconds before James Holmes shot up 4U: The Motion Picture he called a crisis hotline to talk him out of it. The other side of the line disconnected his call after nine seconds without even answering.

I've said it before, but a huge thing I love about comics is how it can all somehow exist together. That was the best part.
It was so imaginative, you had no fucking clue what was going to happen.

With that much compartmentalization you also had an entire story in a single issue.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, babies suddenly dying for no reason anyone can tell.

Its something that happens in real life. When the titular Sandman was spending some time with his sister for some mental clarity, she dealt with one of those cases.

Its worth noting Sandman Death doesn't actually kill people, her job is to show up and bring them to wherever they are supposed to go next depending on a LOT of factors.
Mainly whatever you believe is where you go. A small child who's father told him he was worthless and evil and died went to hell because he was full of guilt, brainwashed Nazi SS went to purgatory (they were kept out of heaven) because they didn't believe they had done anything wrong. When asked about why good people go to hell and evil people don't, Death responds "That's the system they came up with, not mine".
>>
>>81325232
So, what, you're upset the character didn't launch into a speech about how everyone is judged separately according to arbitrary variables they couldn't possibly understand due to being mortals or some other hollow gay bullshit? Death comes for you. That's about as pure as you can get.
>>
>>81325308
What point? That's something that happens in real life. He's not trying to sell you on some moral lesson, he's showing his character doing their job.

When you have a character who is the grim reaper, are you going to only show them taking old people and super villains? Or just hang around doing nothing all the time?
Or are you going to have the balls to show a character who takes EVERYONE?

>>
>>81325477
Its suspected that it has something to do with babies being on their backs, but nobody is sure.

Also, in Sandman every story ever told or fable ever believed in is true, in a sense. Every afterlife really exists, and the people who believe in them go to them if their own believed-in beings will take them. Different afterlives can dispute or war over who gets what soul. Its not clear what comes first, belief or existence.

Sandman is pretty conceptual in a lot of ways, heavy on the multiverse except instead of going to different dimensions within a multiverse its a flat out "everything is true, somewhere".

Judeo-Christian hell and the omnipotent God exists. Heaven and Hell both exist.
Are they supreme? Is Abrahamic the real truth? Who knows! Because the Greek and Egyptian pantheons exist too, and seem just as real and true as everyone else does.

The Endless, universal concepts become anthropomorphic entities, are merely aspects of what they are. You can dream without Dream. Desire still goes on whether Desire is manipulating or not. Destruction completely abdicated his post, and Destruction still continues to happen although its more chaotic and random without him.

Seriously, read that shit.

I honestly don't remember, it's been so long since I've read it. I have to dig my copies out again.
Here's some anecdotes about Sandman though.

>Sandman gives flesh to concepts like dream, desire and destiny, but it is really about stories and the people who tell them. "Three Septembers and a January," a tale about not giving in to despair, stars Abraham Joshua Norton, self-proclaimed Emperor of the United States of America and part of San Francisco legend. A perky anthropomorphized female Death, based on a kabbalistic description of the Angel of Death, comes to claim the Jewish Norton at the end of the story: "They say the world rests on the backs of... 36 unselfish men and women," Death, a popular character in an extremely popular series, tells him. "Because of them the world continues to exist."...

>One of the greatest story arcs, and most memorable for me by far, was "Season of Mists" from The Sandman line by Neil Gaiman. A quick recap for you uninitiated into the greatness that is Neil Gaiman: Lucifer decides he's had it being lord of the underworld and gives Morpheus the key to Hell (mind you, there's a bunch of in-between stuff I'm leaving out here). As the two entities are walking through the various aspects of Hell, Lucifer explains why he's leaving. "Why do they blame me for all their little failings? They use my name as if I spend my entire day sitting on their shoulders, forcing them to commit acts they would otherwise find repulsive. 'The devil made me do it.' I have never made one of them do anything. Never. They live their own tiny lives. I do not live their lives for them .... They talk of my going around and buying souls ?never stopping to ask themselves why. I need no souls. And how can anyone own a soul? No. They belong to themselves They just hate to have to face up to it."
