Did you read that entire review? for all the praise directed at the questions raised in the movie's first half, the writer outright ignores that instead of even offering an answer or deeper look, BvS devolves into mindless fighting and the same SuperJesus wank we got in this and MoS, without any advancement or any more to say.

Unanswered themes aren't "thought provoking" if they're introduced on such a surface level as they were in BvS. Even presenting both sides of a dilemma would be thought provoking while still not giving a concrete answer. Instead BvS replaces subplots with trailers, and fails to develop any character by the conclusion. Never has there been a film so overstuffed and simultaneously unfinished.

As a Marvel fag I found it odd that Batman refused to listen to Superman when he asked for help, twice. Batman is supposed to be the world's greatest detective, he is such an amazing detective that the comic brand he belongs to is named after his orginal comics (Detective Comics. So why is it that a 20 year veteran Batman wasn't able to figure out that both he and Superman were being played by Lex? I expected Batman to steer the fight towards where Martha was being held and revile to Superman that this was his plan all along, he just needed Clark to make it look real. Also, the fact that Lex knew who Superman was while Batman didn't bothered me.

Correct me if I'm worng, because I don't read to much DC, but most times when Batman and Superman fight, it's Batman who tries talking first, right? So why in this movie did he cover his ears and close his eyes and take everything about Superman at face value without investigating him at all?

This movie, while I enjoyed it, felt more like a G rated Punisher vs The Sentry movie.

At least WB could do is show some class.

>>
I thought the animated series batman and superman was meh. It was thinly disguised batwank. Hell he even stole Lois.
>>
>>81305446
I didn't mind the movie at all, in fact I found it very enjoyable, dare I say fun, it's just that one bit with Batman struck me as more out of character than using guns and killing henchmen, my only other gripe on the film was during Doomsday's fight scene, the camera got to close and moved too much, it looked cool, but ingot lost in the details. It was like watching a Transformers fight scene all over again.

All in All I give the film a solid 8/10
>>
>>81305288
>So why in this movie did he cover his ears and close his eyes and take everything about Superman at face value without investigating him at all?

Combination of him getting those letters from his previous employee not taking money, the congress bullshit and Snyder just being stupid. Bruce was out for blood.
>>

Has Hack Snyder ever made a good story in a movie before?
>>

The story in MoS is 7/10. But was it his own thing?

Why do you faggots insist on calling out Zack Snyder for the plot of BvS? It was written by Terrio and Goyer, not Snyder for fuck's sake. It was supposed to be the best part of the movie (remember all the "based Terrio" pics before release, they suddenly dissapeared now). Snyder is a dumb bastard and made really stupid decisions with this movie, but Chris Terrio fucked up just as much, if not more.

At least fling your shit in the right direction.
>>
>>81306627
I was just asking if Zack ever made a good story in a movie. That means also if he ever made a good movie with someone else is story.
>>
>>81306773
>That means also if he ever made a good movie with someone else is story.

Watchmen and 300 were alright, but there he was 99% adapting their respective comics word-for-word and shot-for-shot (except for the kidnapped artists and writers-psychic squid subplot in Watchmen, which was cut and replaced with Dr. Manhattan energy bombs because of time reasons). Snyder (or his buddy Goyer) can't take credit for the story or writing with either movie.

Hey. Guys. I have an idea.

What if we did it with BvS? Just stop mentioning it or talking about it, just ignore it entirely

Under the assumption that this isn't sarcasm or shitposting, you realize this is actually a flaw on the movies behalf right?

If critics can understand movies like Antichrist and The Dance of Reality, but not Sucker Punch, then something obviously went wrong.

That encapsulates the basic ethos of batman and superman. Batman is everyone's male wish fantasy. A peak human being who is also James Bond with a billion dollars. Meanwhile, we are all really superman. Work a 9-5 job, always given shit by our girl, have a cranky boss, etc etc etc

No, people "got it." It's not rocket science, and the ideas were worn on its sleeve. It was terribly executed, stuffed to the brim with pointless action sequences that drew on too long, and awful performances by the lead actresses.

What bothered me was Superman not really attempting to talk it out. He knows they're both being played. He knows Batman is out for blood. And he attempts to talk to him before being interrupted by the audio and gun traps. But when he has the chance to actually get to the fucking point he instead decides to smash Batman through a building and start making vague threats until he gets hit by the gas.

I thought batman's irrationality made sense in the context of this film. He's shown to be a paranoid, cynical, violent and even jealous man. Superman's first interaction with him was a threat. Now he's got his mind set on murdering the guy, so of course he isn't going to listen when the alien start blubbering about needing help. He's insane and the situation has already gone past the point of negotiations, ironically brought there by superman himself.

What baffles me is Superman's approach. He's aggressive and intimidating to Bats without making any attempts to reason or find common ground. He just immediately forms these assumptions about Batman and runs with them, showing him to be stubborn and unreasonable, which doesn't make all that much sense considering his characterization points to him being empathetic and caring, and being misunderstood is his entire character conflict.

No, it's usually Supes. Bats only tries talking him down if Supes is brainwashed or otherwise behaving out of character. If this is not the case, then they're usually fighting because Bats doesn't trust Supes.

Question.
Why is Batman and Superman fighting?
Neither of them would attack anyone without reason.
Did someone control or manipulate one of them into fighting the other?

Or is this movie just thrown together to have them fight and ignore the characters background?

He had a lot of time before the kryptonite hit him. Once the traps weren't done making noise there's no reason he shouldn't have been able to say "Help me my mom is in trouble." He even had the chance to speak to him after beating him down and decided that the best thing to say was "Stay Down. If I wanted it, you'd be dead already." That's an absolutely awful way to try and start negotiating in the middle of a fight, especially with someone in the mental state of Bruce. It just comes off as boasting or threatening.
>>
>>81310698
Bruce has a somewhat legitimate reason for fearing Clark, as he saw the damage done in Metropolis during the Zod fight and all the horrors it brought. Clark is forced to fight Bruce by order of Lex Luthor, who is holding Martha Kent hostage. Clark tries to explain the situation to Bruce, but Bruce only wants to fight as he sees Superman as nothing but a menace over the course of a few false flag attacks set up by Luthor.

That should have been the first movie alone. Superman is the pinacle of Superhero cliche's, the goodguy boyscout.

This, with the recent animated DC movies (Fucking... him cheating on Lois? Him cursing? Him switching between violent ass and kind boyscout so sporadically?) makes superman look like shit. Let's go back to Superman TAS and Justice League/Justice League Unlimited.

The six-month haitus for BvS had them apparently scrapping the entire script and starting over despite some protests and different writers attached getting replaced while some of the previously written script stayed.
The whole development of BvS was plagued with internal problems I think, though I don't know what or why they would be.

Likely conflicting visions of the film mashing against studio requirements for the film and producers being overpaid shitbags while making unreasonable demands.

>Bruce has a somewhat legitimate reason for fearing Clark, as he saw the damage done in Metropolis during the Zod fight and all the horrors it brought.
Thats just typical Batman. Sees how powerful someone is and gets ready incase he has to fight them. However someone breaking something one time isn't enough reason alone to go after them rightaway, would have to continue destroying things again and again to actually go fight them.

Someone tries to explain something to Batman, and Batman doesn't listen? Yeah, not buying that one.
Even with false flags, Batman would atleast listen and come up with a backup plan.

BvS is akin to someone giving a speech and using big words but using them out of the proper context and pronouncing them badly.

It's not even quasi-cerebral. It's like all they need is bad lighting, a ponderous soundtrack and everyone scowling and DC fans really believe they are watching something profound.

Iron Man 2 and Thor 2 had good moments and the framework for a great film was there, a few editing choices and minor decisions could have made them great movies. You could literally tack on 10 minutes of blow-out CGI suit fighting at the end of Iron Man 2 and make it a solid film.
Replace 15 minutes of slapstick in Thor 2 with the Norns and Malekith build up and it's a pretty damn entertaining movie that already has a great fight finale.

BatmanVSuperman just needs to be razed to the ground. It's one unfortunate decision piled atop another, awful characterization, and a story that seems like a rushed patchwork of 3 minute commercials for other movies.

Marx said it best when if you want to sound smart you use big words.
Marvel movies aren't like 'Citizen Kane' or 'Patton' but what they are is what they do best: portal the comic book characters to the best of their abilities.
We can't say that about DC and WB, because WB puts it's fingers in the process and not let DC do what they need to do.
But whatever, i guess it's "3deep5me" .

True, in MoS they should have cut out the Krypton mini-movie.

MoS:
>queue exploding planet with penis ship sailing into Earth
>clark gets adopted
>shows clark in school being bullied for being a nerd since pa told him he had to hide his powers
>saves a bus with his powers and people start question what happened since no one remembers save for a random redhead name Alex
>time skip clark graduates high school, but pa ends up having a heart attack since he's old
>in his grief he ends up wrecking a football stadium, to show he has human emotions, then ends up leaving
>queue rescuing people montage as just a red and blue blur
>suddenly zod comes to Earth, demanding they hand over the kryptonian
>since clark hasnt gone public he has to decide whether to accept his destiny and the suit or just hide
>queue Pa Kent's words, "You can be their hero Clark, in this dark world you can be their Light and lead them into a Golden Age"
>>
>>81317429
>clark goes to get help from a hologram of Jor-El, who gives Supes a device to throw Zod in the phantom zone
>as Zod and Co. descend from their ship Superman comes out to face them
>Clark dispatches the two lackeys easily since they're just mooks in armor
>but zod is a general and knows how the yellow sun affects krpytonians, so he sheds his armor but doesnt expect the whole overload of power
>using this, Clark takes Zod out to a desolate desert in Africa so no one innocent gets harmed
>queue super fight, they are evenly matched, experience vs power, day vs night, etc.
>zod ends up getting the upper hand and flies off to find some humans so he can bait clark
>happens to find bruce wayne and some wayne tech employees golfing or some shit
>goes to attack them but Clark comes up behind him and does some brutal limb breaking, and shoves zod's face into the ground so he cant laser people
>Zod is pissed and clark knocks him out before Clark takes his body and his goons and sends them to the Zone
>unbeknowst to clark, Alex Luthor obtained a sample of his DNA where blood was shed and plans to use it for nefarious

With how Snyder did Watchmen, I would've expected him to do better by directing a movie for The Question. It has all the premise for dark, gritty, and not much fun. Then if he wanted to keep driving the DCCU truck into Depression Ditch, he could tie in Question with Deadman, John Constantine, Huntress, and the like. Then make Justice League Dark.

Marvel's symbol means something to people. When they see that during the opening of a movie, they know they're at least gonna enjoy themselves.

Marvel has gotten to this point from years of hard work, and they've done so with relatively obscure characters and (mostly) quality movies.

>Wonder Woman is a good character

It's time to face the fact that no one gives a fuck about Wonder Woman. A lot of people THINK they care about her because "Muh big 3 female superhero!" but they really fucking don't.

The fact that people have HEARD of her doesn't mean they care or know shit about her. Do you think that the average pseudo aware casual who can name-check the most iconic Batman and Superman stories can name a single Wonder Woman story? Do you think they can even name a single Wonder Woman villain, except maybe one of the ones that is just a Greek Mythological character.

On that note, why the fuck did they feel they needed to set up the Batman origin story in this movie? Literally EVERYONE in the Western world knows it and they could have spent that time doing Wonder Woman's origin, something which might actually have helped some casuals.

The point was that Batman had fallen from grace. The compounding of 20 years of dealing with Gotham, the loss of Robin and then the destruction of his building in MoS had pushed him over the edge. He was not the man he had promised his parents he would be. Superman ultimately redeemed him.
