It's more appealing from a physical stand point, it's like people complained about earlier in this thread. Ladybug's costume is boring, and while Adrien is cute Chat Noir is cuter. It may also be because it's seen as a dead end, since Marinette is more likely to confess to Adrien first as Marinette not as Ladybug. Even though Marinette likes Adrien and Adrien likes Ladybug who is Marinette they can't be in a relationship it can also potentially block other parts of the love square, meanwhile MariChat is a gateway for the rest of the love square.
