>>
>>81298005
>live action Tailspin
God help me, why did I imagine a movie where the bear from the Revenant is trying to hunt down Leonardo DiCaprio's Howard Hughes?
>>
>>81298090
Because you sir, are a cinematic genius.
>>
>>81297643
Reminds me of something I read once.
>>

Am I the only one who thinks Christopher Walken's voice doesn't fit the character?
>>
Live action Talespin thread?
>>
>>81298222
Nah I think he, Idris, and Murray are the best fits.
>>
>>81297495
Why does an oversized orangutan in Asia talks like a 1930's gangster from Brooklyn?
>>
>>81298222
Imagine "I wanna be like you" with his voice and......PAUSES in his speech.
>>
>>81298265
Not sure if you mean that in a good way or a bad way, but he can sing.

Why didn't classic Louie have face pads?
>>
>>81298447
Cuz it looks ugly as fuck
>>
>In the upcoming 2016 live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book directed by Jon Favreau, King Louie is set to be portrayed as a Bornean orangutan-resembling Gigantopithecus (as his original orangutan incarnations never inhabited India) and voiced by actor Christopher Walken.
>>
>>81298580
I like it. It makes him look more pompous.
>>
>>81298436
You-ou-ou?

I'm shocked at how good this movie looks.
>>

Mowgli is not for sexual.

Especially not for disgusting footfaggots.
>>
>>81298303
He could also dance, but that was a while ago.

>>
>>81300641

>>

One job.

He's pretty damn great in that one too though.

Male orangutans start off as "unflanged" and can become "flanged", that is, developing large facial pads, throat pouches, and greater weight and musculature, after sexual maturity and they have established their own territories, which can be on the order of 15 years or more. This makes them more attractive to females and dominant to unflanged males, but at a price: they can only maintain their flanged status for a few years and, following that, "post-prime" orangutans are the least attractive of all to females and don't often control territories that overlap with female ranges (in many species, dominant males(s) ranges will contain several female ranges, which requires directed patrolling on his part to keep rival males out).

This is calorically costly but reproductively valuable, assuming the male times it right ("times it" is misleading, since it's a biological change that the male can't decide to have, but the point here is about the reproductive tradeoffs), since female orangutans are not receptive to mating while they are nursing young, and they can care for a single offspring for as long as 8 years. You'll see a lot of zoo orangutans who are flanged because their dietary needs are always met, and for that reason you'll also see a lot of obese orangutans, since they evolved in habitats that exhibit vastly different food availability and so have developed means of holding onto fat stores, right down to the way they move through the trees.

So, classic Louie is unflanged and new Louie is flanged, likely because it makes it abundantly obvious that he's male and because that's often what people imagine when they think of the classic orangutan image and, of course, that it's a more striking image in and of itself. It may have been easier for animators to draw Louie as an unflanged male, too.

I learned something today.
>>
>>81297495
Are orangutans that big?

>>81298639
>>
>>81302819
Oh, that's a big ape.
>>
>>81298249
Murray's voice takes me right out of it. I hate it when I instantly recognize a VA voice and all I can see if their face.
>>
>>81302855
New Louie is not bigger than Old Louie, he's just farther away.

I think the clip needs to be in /tv/
>>
>>81306003
>wishing /tv/ on anyone
>>
>>81297495
More like King Kong Louie. He's fucking massive.
>>
>>81306003
/tv/ is a shithole
>>
>>81297585
That line just confused me. What language are they supposedly speaking? Would a human onlooker see an ape saying "papaya"?

Having characters speak English for the audience's sake is one thing, but when you do that AND call attention to language it gets really weird.
>>
>>81305452
oh, that's kinda neat and hopefully something like this will get a budget for a decent immersive movie for the VR market
