At least PPGZ tries being it's own thing and works, and even is "more accurate" to the show's origins than nuPPG is.
PPGZ has nice character designs, though. And it's a really cool magical girl show that just happens to be an adaption of a western cartoon.
Now, if PPGZ never existed and they came up with those designs for a regular PPG reboot, then that'd be fucked up and weird.
But the character designer for PPGZ definitely could have done better classic style PPG designs too. They should have hired her.

Basically this. Z at least tried to somewhat do it's own thing, plus the redesigns look really good. The new just kind of feels like it is out of desperation in an attempt to sell more toys.
