This was a hot topic a while back when some believed that X-Fans were about to be blessed with a world separate from the rest of the Marvel Comedic Universe.
The point has been danced around before, with the argument usually being made that we lose super important stuff like Wolverine showing up in Avengers to joke with Spider-Man and Captain Propaganda, but people rarely address this question specifically:
What would the X-Men lose by being in their own universe?
How would that hurt X-Men stories?

If somehow x-men were going to be in the MCU, is probably going to be MCU2, like an AU inside the movieverse, in that way they dont have to explain the existence of mutants in the MCU, to be more specific in earth 19999
It helps them because then they could become the high budget ABC show they were always meant to be.
Just keep the cast small, mainly pic related from Astonishing X men, plus Storm and Armor and you're golden.

Spider-Man always got plenty of flak thanks to Jameson and NYC'ers being assholes.
And hating mutants while preferring media starlets like the Avengers is common in human nature. People are complicated about their bigotry and can make exceptions since the Avengers were sanctioned by the UN in the comics.

Like, literally nothing.
You COULD say interactions with the greater 616 as a whole and the characters that involves, but their interactions are at best not meaningful or very good anyway, and at worst they are actively harmful to the X-Men and their stories.
Decimation and total fucking garbage like the current MPOX thing exist purely because mutants cannot be allowed to expand beyond a tiny, illogically despised minority. Because as they grow, the greater world would have to acknowledge them.
Blah blah humanity hates and fears mutants is nonsense when there were THIRTY MILLION of them. They would be everywhere, and the rest of 616 doesn't want to deal with that.
The mutant theme is only really effective when the world it occupies is otherwise normal. Superheroes and shit sort of throw it off.

Even in the movies, that are standalone, the only time we got presented with a large mutant population was when they just wanted to kill most of them.

That's the point, anti-mutant sentiment is a metaphor for civil rights. There are countless other metahuman types, but only mutants are hated to that extent. It's supposed to make very little sense to call attention to how silly racism, homophobia, etc. are.

The problem is, the racism mutants first railed against doesn't really exist these days in any mainstream capacity.
Thirty foot government killbots make no sense. A guy preferring to hire mutants for some racist reason is more likely, or a guy thinling mutants shouldn't be in his suburb.

The /co/ circlejerk will never admit it but Bendis' run understood this completely. It showed mutants having mass public support on a number of occasions, which makes complete sense.
Especially the time the O5 went off on their own and met current day people their own age, and were completely surprised to find the majority of them were totally pro-mutant and not afraid of them in the slightest.
