Why is there so many Christmas specials but so few Easter specials?
>>
People like Christmas more than Easter. More presents. Also less of that Jesus shit gets forced into Christmas.

>Christmas literally has the word "christ" in it
>less "jesus shit"

I don't understand.

Christmas was originally a pagan holiday. Christians took over. Pagans kept celebrating the holiday. Christians took it over, changed the name to Christmass. It stagnates almost 2,000 years, becoming a boring, unimportant holiday in the Christian calendar. Beginning in 19th century, secularists start taking the holiday back, reintroducing things like trees and weird pagan magical elves that come down your chimney, and new fangled things like commercialism. Everybody loves it. It soon becomes the most popular holiday in the whole year. Christians with sticks up their asses don't like how it's become secularized. Try to force the whole "but the true meaning of Christmas is the birth of blah blah blah" bullshit.

Not too complicated.

That's the sad part, anon. The original meaning of Christmas has been slowly replaced by consumeristic ideas. If you ask some kids "what do you think of Christmas?" The answer will be most likely toys, presents, fancy dinners, and Santa. Not once will they say Christmas represents the birth of Jesus. Or if they do, it will be the last thing in their mind. Easter, on the other hand, has not been severely tainted by consumerism. You don't get presents on Easter, or eat big dinners with the family. You go to church, and church is boring. This is why Christmas is more popular than Easter.

Easter does not move as much cash. There should be more valentine's day specials than easter too.
>>

Why is that sad? Toys, presents, fancy dinners, and Santa are a lot better and more fun than that Jesus bullshit.

Christmas is more commercialized because it's more profitable - because of the gifts shit. So everyone is pushing Christmas this and Christmas that to capitalize on the "holiday spirit" which in turns commercializes it even more. Also, Christmas became mostly universal regardless of religion, while Easter is only celebrated by Christians (and Jews have slightly related Passover at similar time, sometimes). Compare it to Holidays which aside from Christmas, which can be secular or christian, there's also Hanukkah for Jews, Kwanzaa, Yule for Pagans, Sanghamitta for Buddhists,, Pancha Ganapati for Hinduists, or even fucking Newtonmas if you're a completely hardassed fedora atheist.

Also, Easter is a moving feast making it harder to commercialize it fully.

Wasn't Easter a pagan holiday too? Like, don't the rabbits and eggs and woven baskets come from pre-christian celebrations of spring?

I think it really just comes down to less good presents and candy/rabbits/eggs/ending the lent fast with a feast being not as popular anymore
>>

The rabbits and eggs and shit are pagan, and the name.

The actual resurrection of Christ is clearly a Christian holiday from the beginning and was always the holiest holiday in the Christian calendar.
>>
>>81265623
Yeah, the reason rabbits are associated with Easter is because idiots in the Medieval era thought rabbits reproduced asexually, thus making them parallel the Virgin Mary.

Also spring fertility stuff.
>>
>>81262161
Because Easter is pretty strictly Christian, where as Christmas has bee commercialized to such an extent that most people celebrate it.

>be kid
>christmastime
>meet up with dad's friend and her son to go to christmas thing
>her son is like 3
>dad asks him "do you know what day it is next week?"
"Kwismas!"
>"that's right! and do you know whose birthday it is that day?"
>I'm like 8, maybe 9, and I hear the question and think "ummmm...?"
>3 year old answers "Jesus!"
>realize I had not known that
>I wonder why dad never taught me that
>thank god he never asked me because he probably would have been embarrassed as shit
>later figure out my dad had been raised in a very religious household and was always a religious man, but my mom had decided to raise us kids without "forcing" religion on us and that's why I ended up so horribly uneducated about christianity

I wish my parents were like your mom.

Oh shit! The Easter candy went on sale 3 days ago, fuck I hope there's some left...
>>
>>81262673
My family always eats a fancy dinner on Easter. And the kids get easter baskets, which are similar in content to their christmas stockings but not as good.

Nice blog

My great aunts always said the egg symbolizes birth and we dye them red to represent the blood of christ to symbolize his rebirth. I always thought that was the coolest shit as a kid because the way they dyed them really looked like blood to me. I know it's just pagan bullshit twisted around to pass for christian symbolism, but I was happy to see my aunts enjoying it.

the about Lent is that it's supposed to be the last few months of winter, where the food stores are running low and people needed to save up for more energy during the spring planting season.

All of the meaning behind "religious" holidays has been unintentionally whitewashed by globalism, and it doesn't even matter because it was all just mystical barbarian calendar-keeping rituals anyway.
