>the heroes quipping the robots

The Transformers movies fail because they're filled with a bunch of dumb "adult" comedy, god-awful protagonists with zero personality between them, hard shifts into gritty and dark action that don't fit and outright terrible action.

What annoys me most about the Bayformers action is how shapeless it is. There' almost never any real goal or stakes, it's just robots punching at other ad infimitum while the human military fires their big-dick supercannons into the fray with little rhyme or reason. There's barely any good use of the environment they're given and these movies have hopped all over the globe, we've gone from China to the Egyptian pyramids to New York and it's all the same choreography, the same shit and it's fucking boring.

I think the closest Bayformers ever got to good action was the big freeway fight in the first and the humans in the collapsing skyscraper in Dark of the Moon. Everyone sucks the dick of the forest fight in 2 but it's boring as shit too, it's the same "rolling-around-and-punching" crap the rest of the movie has except with more swords.

Seriously, explain the omelette joke
>>
>>81261055

Which ones which?
>>
>>81260993
>You can actually tell what's going on.
This is the biggest problem with Bayformer's designs. Their limbs & outlines are broken up because there's too much going on, and they end up just looking like giant heaps of scrap mental. It would actually be watchable if they were more well defined/ sleeker, and like humanoids while moving. We're lucky we got anything halfway decent since Spielberg originally advocated that they be giant silver humanoids who only talked in beeps.
>>
>>81261068
There was an omelette joke? Tell me more!
>>
>>81261013

People always respond with shit like that but never actually back it up.

AoU's action is nothing like Bayformers. The floating city setpiece has use of environment the Bay movies never have like combination air/ground fighting and saving people from falling off the edge, and there's an actual goal being attempted beyond fighting with saving the civilians.

It's hardly revelatory, but it's still more interesting then the Bayformers action. We're four movies in and he still hasn't figured out anything more interesting to do other then "all the robots punch each other a lot the end." no matter where it takes place or what the plot is.

This is the guy that ended Bad Boys 2 with a fucking Hummer car chase running over favelas which culminated in a Mexican stand-off in the middle of an active minefield. Where the fuck has THAT Michael Bay been?

>>

>>81261198
It wasn't even a bad exchange on paper, but it's done while neither actor is in the room with the other and it's stitched together between ADR and post-production methods in a way that's supposed to make us think that multi-camera sitcoms have been funny in the last 20 years when they aren't/haven't been.

It's a superfluous amount of work for an exchange that should be throwaway but because of the dissonance it's played like a really awful 'zinger'.
>>
>>81260716
"fun" and "edgy" need to go away
>>
>>81261265
How do you qualify destruction as "meaningless"?

Also, both have continuity.
>>
>>81261522
Transformers is the only one with continuity.

Marvel movies don't.
>>
>>81260806
You don't seem to realize this, but pure action gets boring really fast if the audience has no investment in what's going on. If we don't care who wins, it stops being exciting and just becomes a chore to watch.

Same happens if action drags on for too long without any breaks in-between.

It doesn't help that in Bayformers movies you can barely tell what's going on due to the busy designs and shaky cinematography, so it's not even action - Just a bunch of flashing colors on screen.

>>81266543
They are generally mediocre, that much is true, the problems I have with these is the fact that these movies are so focused on preparing future movies that they forget how to be a movie in itself.
They no longer focus on telling a story, they are just about preparing more and more sequels, entire scenes that are basically

>''HEY, YOU KNOW THIS THING THAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN SOME DAY?''

BvS did too, but with a more messy structure.
>>
>>81266637
Thing is, in cape books they can take their time to tell a story apart from preparing future stories, they have entire runs for this.
In these movies you have 2 hours and there's this trend of wasting maybe a quarter of that in referencing sequels and the entire movie is full of hints at what some day will happen.
It's even worse when both cinematic universes have already blown their load and told us which movies are coming, and you can pretty much guess what will happen in the future.

Ultron as the thing driving the plot. Not sure how that is in any way inconsequential. The fact that his actions help in setting up civil war in fact makes them have MORE consequence not less.
