Yeah. I can understand people complaining about how the over-exaggerated art can come off looking unappealing, but "lazy" seems like an inaccurate word. The strip's art has a lot more effort and variety put into it today than it had in the past. For comparison, here's a random strip from 2005. It's basically some talking heads with only a couple of details changing across the panels (eyes, mouth). It kinda looks like B^U faces, and copy/pasting seems to have been involved.
Also, when did PA make their strips this big? I'm pretty sure they used to be in a smaller resolution in the past.

I've heard people throwing this theory around but I don't find it believable. Sure, the difference in the art style is noticeable when you compare older and newer strips. But this change has evolved pretty gradually over a long time, and I don't believe the artist changed at any point.
As for the idea that it's ghostwritten these days, IMO the comic's current writing doesn't seem all that different when compared to the older strips. It's just got less videogame focus now that the PA guys have grown up a bit and aren't young and hip anymore. People have kept complaining that they've been recently bringing their personal/private stuff into the comics too much (fatherhood etc), and I don't feel like a ghostwriter would do that; they'd more likely stick to the old formula of vidya gags.

Dickwolves was much less the strip itself than it was Mike being an asshat on twitter after the comic went up. The initial backlash was pretty minor until he apparently spent a couple weeks stirring shit up there. Similar thing happened later with some comments from him about trans people, which led to him apologizing on the site when he realized one of the folks at the PA Report was trans. I'm pretty sure Mike's complete lack of tact in these situations is what led to their current policy of not engaging criticism at all, which I believe Robert has mentioned at PAX on a couple occasions.

And why the fuck are their noses BROWN? Did someone take a dump on them? "Tumblr nose" at least represents real discoloration of human skin on the nose (you can dislike it because it doesn't account for discoloration of ears, cheeks and lips), where it indeed is slightly redder - but it's never fucking BROWN!

Although it's exaggerated, I don't really mind it, what I don't like is the weird color experimentation he does, like in OP's pic.
