Batman faked his death to hang up the mantle for a while so the Joker went legit without an archnemesis to torment.
The Joker's new personality is keeping the old Joker in check or something, now he's a butcher, he's doing good work, part of a community, he almost killed himself but that was just the Joker persona's despair over the Bat being gone.
If the Bat reappeared the Joker would HAVEto come back and the "Don't do it don't become who you were before" line is a subconscious/conscious plea for Bruce to not be Batman again because that'd cause the Joker to come back and kill this personality

1) He got a non-answer, like "he's an archetype, the nemesis of Gotham" or something like that. If they go with this, the reveal is pointless.
2) He's an immortal or other kind of supernatural entity. This would suck as well because we just went through that plotline in Snyder's run.
3) It's someone with ties to Batman. An old friend or an uncle or something. Some kind of personal significance to Bruce. This is the worst case scenario, look at how that Owlman turned out.
4) They go with the Killing Joke origin, and Joker is just the failed-comedian turned failed-criminal chump we know. The shock is because Batman finds out that by causing him to fall into the chemicals, he created the Joker. This might be the best case scenario, and it still sucks because the point of Killing Joke is that the origin presented might not even be true.
So, whatever they do, it'll suck.

The chair told Batman that Joker's real name is Joker. This is why Batman becomes intent on proving the chair wrong and discovering Joker's real identity.
The punchline is that Joker has no real identity, which prompts Batman to become his manic, obsessive, compulsive to the extreme self and later abandons the chair.

Literally never been the case. Even before this issue. In Morrison's run, Joker turned into a crime fighting detective after Batman supposedly died. In Going Sane, Joker got plastic surgery and retired to a wife and stable job until Batman was revealed to still be alive. In Dark Knight Returns, Joker was completely catatonic for decades until the Bat resurfaced.
Joker is the one case where Batman is entirely responsible for a villain being active. If Batman just stopped, Joker would too.

My favorite theory on Joker's true identity is that it's a bunch of different Jokers. The first insane murder clown keeps spawning copycats. Instead of shooting up schools, the depressed, bullied teenagers of Gotham become the Joker.

He's hit or miss. Black Mirror was GOAT. Court of the Owls was great until the dumb ending where Snyder pulled a Hush-tier twist that everyone saw coming, then tried to have his cake and eat it too with all that brother nonsense. Death of the Family was alright but ultimately had no consequences so it was pointless buildup to a big fat fart. Zero Year was mostly great, especially all the Riddler stuff, but I hate how he handled the Red Hood. It's obviously not comics canon, but there's an implication in Gotham that that's at least partially the case. Jerome, basically the proto-Joker, and a prime candidate for potentially being THE Joker in that universe, was killed off early this season. Shortly before this his father, a blind circus fortune teller, foresaw that Jerome would be a curse on Gotham, and violence would follow in his wake. At the end of the episode he died a few scenes of a bunch of people going laughing mad and killing each other was shown.
