Kubo and the Two String.

Disney's been on a good streak lately. I have high hopes for this one.

>The Secret Life of Pets
I heard Louis C.K. is in this one. Isn't that weird? Anyways, it's probably gonna suck.

>Trolls
...yeah, no.

>Storks
Mediocre. Not good, not bad, just mediocre.

>Ice Age 5
Or as it's known outside the U.S., "Hey Creationists, Suck it!". Oh, and it's gonna be terrible.

>The Angry Birds Movie
I'd rather get fucked in the ass for three days straight by Caitlyn Jenner on camera and then show it to all my friends and family on fucking IMAX 3D than watch this piece of shit.

>Ratchet and Clank
I'm filled with cautious optimism.

>Animal Crackers
Usually with a film, you want to start out with an interesting idea, but it's neat to see a studio go in the complete opposite direction and hope for the best.

>Kubo and the Two Strings
A film with a charming visual style from the people who made Coraline, ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls? What are you doing alongside this shit fest?

>Sing
The key to a good musical film is good music. Therefore, this film will be goddamned masterpiece for the tone-deaf.

Has nothing to do with Frankenpenis.

Also, you're implying that piece of shit is even worthwhile when it's got the deadest looking stop motion animated humans because Burton thinks stop motion needs to look shitty and unexpressive to feel genuine, and a story padded out by "wacky" horror references and a Japanese kid that walked out of a World War II cartoon.

I'm not certain I understand the casting process for this. So you make a music movie and instead of casting some well knowm musicians like Wiz Khalifa, Bruno Mars, Ariana Grande, Adam Levine etc., they cast Reese Witherspoon? They couldn't get Pharell? The Secret Life of Pets would have been a lot more interesting if it was what the first trailer suggested; an anthology film with mostly unconnected segments about what animals do when their owners aren't around.

Instead, it's a pretty generic "adventure" film.

>>
>>81242531
When you have a wacky sidekick character and make a sequel/spin-off staring that sidekick it usually ends in overexposure. So I'm pessimistic about Finding Dory. Though it does look like she's bringing her straight man along for the ride.

Trolls...has a terrible terrible trailer. I've heard something that means I'll glance the reviews when its coming out to see if it's actually a trainwreck. There's a chance it's just a bad trailer / the trailer is worse then the movie.

>Sing
>are you fucking joking

Angry Birds should be terrible but the trailer show it will be average at worse.

Ratchet and clank are very likeable character and I'm excited for the movie...but it isn't going to break new ground or be amazing...

Of the list I think Kubo may have the best shot of competing in quality. In sales several of them stand a chance.

Overall I think Zootopia is going to dominate in overall quality. I don't expect anything else to dethrone it for the year.

The later installments are the big sellers, the first Ice Age did the worst financially.

Pic related is a list of the highest-grossing animated films (worldwide), Ice Age franchise has 3 in the top 20, like Shrek
>>
People just need to stop making these movies.

Especially Sony, no one gives a fuck about your little clique of first party games whose potential you've squandered over the past decade. Ratchet and Clank may be fun games, but the world isn't exactly something so original and unique that you can build a movie around, the whole style just became gouache and cliche during the PS2 era.

Trolls... because Smurfs worked out so fucking well.

Ice Age... because that needed another fucking sequel.

Moana... this year's 'Brave' reporting for duty as another forced/ham-fisted narrative serving as little more than a device to introduce another Disney Princess.

Finding Dory... Unless it's Toy Story, when it comes to sequels, Pixar really shouldn't.

At least Kung Fu Panda warrants a sequel because whether you like the films or not they're actually successful enough to warrant existing. Same with Angry Birds... even if it's five years too late for anyone to honestly give a fuck.

Storks, The Secret Life of Pets and Animal Crackers are those typical animal CGI movies where they don't know what kind of movie they want to be and were clearly sold on nothing their superficial premise. They try to be smart, but are still too low brow for adults and too boring for kids, and not in the least bit engaging all around. It's the "Surf's Up" formula.

why? Just don't watch them if they don't mach your pretentious hipster taste
>>
>>81242531

honestly, of all the movies on the list, my choices are:

>kubo
>Storks
>Finding Dory

Kubo will probably be great no matter what and I'm expecting Finding Dory to have a Toy Story 3-esque nostalgia hit from all the people who loved the first one, which is a lot of people.

Storks is the wildcard on this. I doubt it's going to be as good as zootopia story-wise, but if the creators can pull another straight-up comedy out of their hats like Lego Movie, it could stand up as something separate by itself.
>>
>>81258124
Okay, let me rephrase that, so many people making them needs to stop, it's like the early-mid 00s all over again.

I think it has plenty of potential to be hilarious and the trailers so far have looked interesting enough, if not amazing.

but of all of the ones on that list, the one I really want to be good is actually TSLOP. I actually have a lot of respect for Illumination (in spite of minions) and I really want to see a new IP from them be successful.
I don't hold out any hope for it being as good as Zootopia, but I actually like how Illumination animates their stuff, their lighting work in particular is really pretty and they have the potential to be a good successor to Dreamworks, should DW finally collapse.

>>81257993

>Long way north

oh god I want to see that so much, it looks gorgeous.
>>
>>81242531
Ratchet and Clank has the potential to be the best video game movie adaption in a long time but it's not going to top Zootopia.
>>
>>81242531
Honestly, outside of the possible foreign film that usually surprises I don't see anything domestically getting the critical reception of Zootopia -- at least I hope it doesn't.

Finding Dory, like all non-Toy Story Pixar sequels, will probably disappoint. Moana, too, is probably gonna be good not great.

Kubo is literally the only American animated film that has a shot, and even then I don't think it will.
>>
>>81259153
I respect that. I've always liked the Despicable Me movies and I do love me some Pharell.

I've always felt similarly about Sony animationfilms. They're keeping the squash and stretch style alive with movies like Cloudy with a chance of meatballs and Hotel Transylvania.

I have hope in Finding Dory

Nemo did well, and he was an unlikable whiny brat. I like the Dory character and while I am genuinely concerned if she gets lost, her brain problems will make her plight fun and entertaining. She's such a pure character, I hope she ends up making friends with every problem that comes her way

Literally Pixar's PR -- the post.

speaking of S&S, that reminds me how pretty much all of Joy's motion in Inside Out was like that, it's nice to see every now and then. The whole Sony Pictures thing is what bugs me though. I don't know a single studio for live action or animated movies that puts as much obnoxious product placement in as Sony does. seriously, they even made an ad for a phone that was simultaneously an ad for Spectre, which in turn had said phone as a product placement. Shit's nuts.

I feel like the fact the Louis is in this might mean that at least the script is good since he's usually pretty stringent about himself actually believing in the project. But then again, it's animation which he might not give a shit about, so it could go either way. Holding out hope, tho.

it's a cuck story. Louis CK is the little white dog who is fiercely loyal to his owner, but she still goes and brings home a much bigger and darker dog which she showers with attention while he watches and is ignored.

Yeah Long Way North looks stunning, and there's something about the trailer that moves me a bit every time. I really want to see it

Well, maybe if the little white ma- dog wasn't so pathetic and useless maybe she wouldn't have to go find a darker, bigger and more fit to survive pers- dog who can better meet her needs.

Finding Dory is the only one that has a shot.

The only company that can beat Disney is Disney.

Kubo, Moana, Finding Dory

Maaaaybe Ratchet and Clank. They have a pretty decent fan base already.

Inside Out was the only 3D animated movie among five nominations for Best Animated Film of 2015. Get out more.

Unless something goes awry, Kubo will probably be better. This is my top pick.

This list doesn't have the french The Little Prince on it, which was apparently super well received abroad, and will be on Netflix before the end of the year (probably).

Finding Dory has a shot- I'm never too excited for sequels but Andrew Stanton is at the helm again which is promising. I know next to nothing about Moana so it could definitely be better than Zootopia- I have no idea.

The Angry Birds trailers have all surprised me. It is looking like it will be good. It doesn't look like it will be better than Zootopia, but it could surprise me again.

Also I liked Zootopia. I have this week off and will probably see it again tomorrow or something.

>be me
>like digimon
>Summer Wars comes out
Its digimon again! Kazma has furry appeal but it contextually makes sense and isn't a major part of the film.
>Wolf Children comes out
He is trying something softer and more sentimental! Please ignore the scene where she makes out with the wolf. I swear its not a furry film. There is more to it.
>The Boy and the Beast
Hosoda is a fucking furry, isn't he?

Really? From the trailers I saw, it looks like it's going to be the cliche old "new people/person comes to town, is evil but nobody thinks that except the main character(s), main character(s) are told off by everyone else, etc. etc. you know how this goes" story, but with a shitload of really low-brow and childish jokes.

I mean, FFS, there was a pissing joke in one of the trailers.

It's going to be forgotten within a couple years.

Maybe finding Dory, and that's a stretch

>KFP3
Was good, but nowhere near as good as Zootopia.

>Finding Dory
Seems like it has a chance.

>Moana
No idea. Don't really know anything at all about this movie.

>Secret Life of Pets
>Sing
Both going to fail miserably, especially the latter

>Trolls
What even is this? The teaser trailer didn't really reveal anything about it except...that's it's Trolls.

>Ice Age 5
Please stop milking this franchise.

>Storks
>Animal Crackers
>Kubo
Haven't seen anything about any of these.

>Ratchet and Clank
The trailer for this one was like 3 minutes long. Didn't look bad, but didn't look particularly good, either. It just looked like a typical action-y summer blockbuster movie.
