Correction: I'm ignoring it because of the type of cartoon. Just as I ignore the fucked up shit that happens in Looney Toons because of the type of cartoon it is. Because of the internal logic it tries to portray. Sure Bamman is more dark than Looney Toons but the association is still relevant to convey how tone can entirely change the weight of events.
The difference between light and dark is the weight and emphasis on how the actions are portrayed. We're not talking old German bedtime story "Timothy liked to eat cheese, one day he ate too much and turned into cheese and the rats ate him". We're talking about it in the context of a very overtly and deliberately campy and light. Sure Spectre gets to be a broody anti-hero but that doesn't change the fact that batman is going to turn around and teach a grown man the importance of bushing his teeth later on while riding a giant baby.
If the same thing happened in Teen Titans for instance, we may be getting somewhere. You'd have a point. But no. You're doing the equivalent of reading too hard into Looney Toons or Mario lore and applying real-world consequences to it. That's asinine and the definition of pretentiousness.
