Well the big problem with Korrasami (that their relationship isn't very believable) could have been fixed if they just actually paid attention to Asami and gave her a personality besides "the sweet nice one who cries sometimes" and not elevating Varrick who had plot points that could have gone to her instead.

The romance elements were always terrible in both ATLA and LoK. Bryke listened and basically completely scratched any romance past season 2. I prefer a 2 minute forced lesbian ending vastly to a Mako romance that would have taken up several hours of season 3 and 4.

Yes, but the latter was done extremely subtle, to the point where it was practically nonexistent. It couldn't possibly have bothered you prior to the finale because leading up to it, it wasn't there at all apart from a handful of moments that could have been interpreted one way or another. So I really don't get the butthurt about Korrasami. It was 2 minutes out of the entire show.
The only people I can think of who would be this angry at a 2 minute scene right at the very end of the show are either shippers who wanted Korra to end up with someone else, or homosexual men, who are always really angry at the fact that cute lesbians have become somewhat mainstream in media.
