I forgot the third part of the unholy trinity. Trouble, Unfunnies, what was the third?
>>81199605
Marville.
>>81199631
>Marville.
So was it self aware? Was he serious? Or was it a parody comic that fell apart?
What is the Unfunnies?
>>81199784
>What is the Unfunnies?
Let's not.
>>81199605
The Millar Trinity is Nemesis, Trouble and the Unfunnies IIRC.
>>81199784
It is what it was and will continue to be so, let us not wrack our brains to figure out we went from "Ma and Pa sent underwear!" to whatever the fuck transpired in the 3rd book and beyond.
>>81199784
>>81199784
>So was it self aware? Was he serious? Or was it a parody comic that fell apart?
All of them
>>81199784
Marville started as an ego trip, pure and simple. It was in a contest between Dan Abnett's Captain Marvel relaunch, and then the editor's own "better" Marville. Who ever got the better sales won. However, both sold like dog-shit. Only reason Marville got 6 issues was because it was by the editor-in-chief. I have no doubt it was genuine past the first issue.
>>81199856
>Let's not.
I'm sure somebody will.
>>81199605
Take your pick.
>>81200323
>It was in a contest between Dan Abnett's Captain Marvel relaunch
it was Peter David tho
>>81200323
>Dan Abnett's Captain Marvel
Peter David.
>>81200365
I hope so. Its been a while.
What about Our love is real?
>>81200373
Was this a one-time thing or are there yearly Weekends of Pain?
>>81200373
Can't wait for this year's edition. I got some new additions I want to dump.
>>81200458
>Its been a while
It's been storytimed a few times over the past few months
>>81199605
>>81199631
Which one of those is the one one where they got tired of making word bubbles and just pasted the script onto the images?
>>81200494
Last year was the first time, but it was so fun everyone agreed to make it a yearly thing.
We didn't even get to do Holy Terror, so there is still a lot of bad stuff that hasn't been done.
War Machine 2.0 was so bad I actually kind of like Trouble now.
>>81200634
There are contrarians here who will argue to the death that Holy Terror is good.
>>81200704
It is. It's great satire.
>>81200494
That was the first one. But hopefully it'll become a tradition. But we gotta wait for comic-con before we do it again
>>81200454
>>81200378
My mistake.
>>81200704
>Holy Terror is good.
That's just /pol/.
There are also people who say My Life Me and Family Guy is good.
There are even people who have defended The Unfunnies.
>>81200817
Pretty sure its pretty straight.
Our Love is Real is satire
>>81200817
I agree. I like the way he pokes fun at good writing.
>>81200634
War Machine 2.0 needs to be a yearly thing. It looks like those 3D porn comics.
>>81200634
Not just Holy Terror, but ASBAR and TDKSA
So many storytimes of pain, so little time.
>>81200373
I don't remember Battle for Bludhaven or Ghost Riders
>>81200817
I'm pretty sure he was being earnest.
>>81200887
>TDKSA
One of the few comics I remember the exact moment I knew I wasted my money.
>>81200867
Satire of WHAT though?
>>81200922
I do remember him saying it was meant to be a propaganda piece, like the old days of superheros punching Hitler.
>>81200373
Was Ghost Riders bad? It seemed like a fun Death Race spoof
>>81200846
>There are even people who have defended The Unfunnies.
Oh, that was me, sorry. Just fishing for (You)s is all.
>>81200973
It's the Marvel Mangaverse one by Chuck Austen.
>>81200887
ASBAR was at least fun af.
>>81200907
Manga Ghost Rider was far from the worst thing that weekend.
I liked it in a so bad it's good kind of way.
>>81201103
That it is
>>81200887
But TDKSA was enjoyable.
>>81201077
>Mangaverse
It should be the first or last storytime of every year.
>>81200373
>Amazons Attack
>US War Machine 2.0
>Trouble
>Battle for Bludhaven
Ugh, I've actually read these. I would add WorldWatch and The Crossing to this list, personally.
>>81200634
>>81200886
What sucks about War machine 2.0's art is that 3D comics COULD be good, but the models in that book look like some shitty PS2 shovelware. If they got a quality professional graphics studio to do your panels, I think it could work out.
>>81200373
Please add Venditti's GL this year. Watching the blues get wiped out was devastating
>>81199856
The Unfunnies wasn't THAT bad. Of course it was awful and horrific and such, but it has a sort of experimental feel to it and it really stands out as something unique and different. In a sense, I think it has a real kitsch appeal to it, and it will probably wind up in the "so bad it's good" pile eventually.
>>81200958
Plus it had his own gut reaction to the events of 9/11. If you appreciate it as Miller working through his response to the atrocities of that day, it takes on a sort of Saint Anger-esque appeal. It really feels like a less coherent and self-aware In The Shadow of No Towers, just raw emotion and anger.
>>81200558
Marville.
Also two panels had absolutely no art for no reason.
>>81201313
Venditti's GL is just boring. Something like Hellcat is a better fit.
>>81201261
>The Crossing
For a moment, I thought you said the Crossed.
We would have to bleed into /aco/ to do that, but then we could also do Bomb Queen.
>>81201513
Censor the naughty bits using sesame street characters
>>81201513
please No. EVerytime I read bomb queen I want to fly the writers house and personally break his hands.
>>81201584
Sounds perfect!
>>81200373
Why cant we have storytime weekend of awesomeness ?
>>81201513
/aco/ doesn't seem to mind. Bondage Fairies, Tarot, and Austen's weird porn comic got done over there like last year, with no stress.
>>81201667
Because threads with bad storytimes are more fun.
>>81201667
Most people can agree on what comics are bad, nobody on /co/ can agree on what comics are good because we're contrarians at heart.
>>81201567
I would love this or with snarky caption boxes, but someone would have to spend a lot of time on that.
>>81201387
>The Unfunnies wasn't THAT bad
Stop. I don't want to live in a world where that's remotely true.
>>81201736
Which comics are the ones that /co/ generally agree that are 100% the best ?
>>81201779
Isnt all star superman everyone favorite around here ?
>>81201667
Reading a bad comic with a bunch of /co/mrades is like watching a bad movie with a bunch of friends, it's pretty fun.
>>81201779
There are a few that MOST of us can call good, but none that we all would call good.
>>81201845
Nope even All Star Superman gets hate due to it being popular with casuals.
>>81201845
>Isnt all star superman everyone favorite around here ?
No, I think the coloring and lineart is crap.
>>81201613
>Comic creator Jimmie Robinson is reported to be in good spirits after a violent assault on his home Tuesday evening. Sources say a crazed man came barreling through Mr. Robinson's front door, screaming something about "No more edgy [explitive] [explitive]." The perpetrated then savagely destroyed Mr. Robinson's hands using a variety of gardening tools and sporks, leaving a single message written in finger blood on the refrigerator door. It read, "Who's Edgy Now Moth". Police believe the perpetrator ran out of blood before completing his message.
>And now, here's Craig with local sports.
>>81201845
As a Marvel drone, the only ones I knows of are:
Thor: The God Butcher
Nextwave
Watchmen
Earth X
>>81201890
but the story is great
>>81201821
>[UNSOLICITED OPINION ON ISRAEL?!?!?!]
>>81201736
Some good storytimes are fun (outside of the quality of the comic) but they usually have to be really long and have great edit potential. The recent complete storytimes of Usagi Yojimbo and Invincible were great.
>>81201965
If that was used to cover up Bomb Queen's boobs it would be the best story time of all time.
>>81201848
That, and I feel like reading bad comics serves the vital function of teaching people to appreciate good works. After all, how can one really tell the difference between quality and shit without any means of comparison?
>>81201845
My recommendation is always Hellboy, but some people aren't fans of the art style.
>>81201667
because /co/ is pain
>>81201947
>Thor: The God Butcher
Aaron's writing is total shit in this arc. People are just impressed by the pretty art.
>Watchmen
some people have a hate boner for mooreincluding moore himself
Nextwave is cool and I haven't read Earth X.
>>81201947
>Thor: The God Butcher
>Nextwave
>Watchmen
>Earth X
People will shit on all of these here, anon.
>>81201947
>earth X
>>81201833
You live in a world where that comic Gene Simmon's kid did exists, it's already too late.
>>81202132
That's way I say most people and not all.
Oh and I recommend Earth X if you like the idea of EVERYTHING in the Marvel universe being connected.
>>81201890
Oh boy.
>>81200867
I wish. Humphries Ultimates would have been great satire too, but he's stated none of it is tongue-in-cheek.
>>81201219
Is that reaction image from Phoenix Max? Because that's in my unholy trinity.
I also wish Liberality for All had lasted longer than three issues.
>>81200373
>Our Love Is Real
It's basically just a short offshoot of Transmetropolitan, nowhere NEAR as bad as some of that other stuff.
>>81200373
I'm so happy I was there. It's fun, killing your soul by degrees.
>>81201721
>Bondage Fairies
I never got to finish that one. Did the girl ever escape?
>>81200373
Batman: Odyssey wasn't part of that?
>>81210880
>Storytime weekend of pain
>pain
Batman Odyssey is too fun to bring pain
>>81210940
Eh, I guess that's true. It's the stupid kind of fun, but still.
>>81199631
Bingo.
>>81199605
Can someone story time trouble?
>>81211561
Maybe later
>>81208502
>>81211561
>>81199605
I remember seeing and fapping to this ad in a comic when I was younger.
>>81200373
No Justice League: Cry for Justice or Rise of Arsenal? No ASSBAR? One More Day?
Cant wait for the next one.
>>81200958
It was less Superman punching Hitler and more Superman telling us to "Slap a Jap"
It was definitely the bad king of propaganda.
>>81199856
Nemesis isn't that bad
>>81214084
Is it habbening?
>>81201143
I have to disagree with you, man. It might have been THE worst.
>>81214019
no
no stop don't why
>>81201416
Nah, Hellcat is just offensively boring with a complete lack of tension. It's just dull. This is for things that are actually PAINFUL to read. The only ANAD books that fall into this category are Angela and maybe Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. The former because of the writing and the latter because of the art.
>>81200373
I want to get involved this year, but I can't decide which comic I want to do.
>>81214341
Cry for Justice is always a good pick
>>81214341
I call dibs on She Lies with Angels
>>81214341
Ultimate end
>>81214381
Nah.I was thinking of doing either the Knuckles comics by Ken Penders, BR Mega Man, or the Mega Man Zero manga. I need DL links for the last two but I can get the first one no problem
>>81214481
wow much social commentary
I don't understand Marvel's story at all. It's so all over the place its ridiculous. So fucking random. this isn't a real thing and just some fan artist wankery fan fiction right?
>>81199605
Out Love Is Real. Moon over June works for me too.
this is so aggressively stupid, goddamn
>>81214480
>Knuckles comics
Oh boy! Nonsensical plotlines, copy pasted character designs, and abuse of ellipses everywhere!
>>81214582
>naked girl
>porn
>car crashes
>pizza
>beer
>football
>video games
>super violent gory anime
this guy truly gets my demo
Dear god hell is real and it begins in this thread.
>>81214976
>Are you Kramer from Seinfeld?
STOP
IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT YOU MIGHT STILL SEE AS HOLY STOP!!!
>>81201845
>Which comics are the ones that /co/ generally agree that are 100% the best ?
The Butlering
Yeah man like, the creators didn't even want to go past this point, they're just pasting the script over the art. This is fucking brutal.
>>81214019
I hate you. I hate you.
>>81215173
fucking crazy
>>81215085
>Superman Batman and Spider-man have the same origin
???
What the fuck is going on? Is this supposed to be some sort of avant-garde shit?
'So...uh keep going boss?'
'Yeah keep going, you think I'm going to let that smug little shit Davis win?'
'...'
'Fuck you we're doing this.'
WHO THE FUCK GREENLIT THIS MESS? QUESADA, IS THAT YOU YOU FUCK.
>>81215125
A-are you kidding me. D-did they just forget that this is supposed to be a finished comic?
>>81214614
This was written by the President of Marvel at the time.
>>81215392
...how...what...is...
Well I guess you don't have to know how to write comics to run a business about comics.
>>81215433
See >>81200323
President Jemas got in a feud with Captain Marvel writer Peter David, and said he could write a better comic. Maybe if it was a publicity stunt for Captain Marvel. If so it was a really elaborate one.
>>81215456
>>81215475
>>81215499
this is fucking retarded
The art makes me feel queasy
>>81215570
>Preview for Austen X-men inside of Marville
I think we're in hell
>>81215553
Yeah but God is black, you gotta admit that's pretty deep.
>>81215570
Way to make that snake girl unattractive.
>>81215520
And now it is preserved for history that no he could not. This is the kind of stuff they force prisoners to read in china
>>81214019
why is he as big as the buildings?
>>81215664
Jurassic Park is 1993 AD, not 150 million BC
>>81202132
>Aaron's writing is total shit in this arc.
Explain.
>>81201513
>Bomb Queen
Oh no oh no OH FUCK WHY DID YOU REMIND ME
>>81201890
I'm not a fan of it either but the story is what matters.
>>81214825
It's like it's trying to be as bad as possible.
Not only is the comic nonsensical from a technical standpoint but most of the science and philosophy is beyond retarded.
>>81215308
It's clearly just too deep for you.
>>81215888
>everything on this page
>>81215888
I think reading this page caused 90% of my brain to stop working, so I suppose it must be accurate.
>>81215961
>>81215934
>>81215909
WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING
>>81214296
this is when Marvel liked the X Men
