Not that anon but it is both actually. The animation of the sea is made of actual legos, but the characters are all CG. Not sure if there is any more stop motion in the movie, tho.
>>
>>81197482
the sea animation was CGI, but there were a few scenes that were stop-motion with real Legos.

like the astronaut scene when they're crashing through the various worlds was done with Lord or Miller's personal set

Bionicle was never really LEGO though. It was published under the brand, but it had its own story, its own pieces, its own containers

It could've very well been distributed under megablocks or even its own standalone toy set and nothing would really be different.

This is an extremely odd stance to take. It's like saying Space Police doesn't use the same parts as Castle so it doesn't count as Lego.

Technic existed before and after Bionicle. The Toa were just putting a face and story to the brand, like the Throw-Bots and Robo Riders before them.

Ok, what? See the holes on the side of the fire dude's sword? Those holes are compatible with regular ass lego bricks. Lego, Technic, and Bionicle can all be combined with each other and are all compatible with each other.

No, actually. Star Wars was a big success but Lego still had to pay royalties to Lucasfilm, which wasn't enough to really keep them afloat. Bionicle was an entirely new and original line so pretty much all the profit went to Lego.

Not putting their money into stupid shit like Jack Stone, Galidor, Znap, Explore or the KidPad anymore was what saved them.

Thoughts on the Batman Lego Movie?

Looks to have the same level of gorgeous animation, but I'm not sure about stretching one gimmick into a full length.

>>
>>81199151
Excited, considering it will shit on the hypersaturation of Batman in the media at least to an extent if we go by the second trailer.
Plus if we have moments like "I saved the city again" and they flesh out Batman beyond "I am Batman but a huge dick" they could probably make something of it. Toss in the rest of the supporting characters that have been cast and probably some more villains and the Justice League with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill back and it will be solid.
My honest biggest gripe will be if these are just glamour shots and the League or his villains aren't in the movie.

Can someone tell me why The Lego Movie is so revered?

It was generic kid shit, why did everyone start saying it was GOAT? The animation was solid, don't get me wrong, but the jokes were terrible and the only reason I can think of that people liked it was for the brony shit like the unicorn-cat.

>It was generic kid shit
Name one kid's movie with that much attention to detail and story. Hell, name one kid's movie with animation this good at all.
>The jokes were terrible
Some jokes were obviously pretty dumbed down for a younger audience, but saying that the entire movie was unfunny is ridiculous.
>the only reason I can think of that people liked it was for the brony shit like the unicorn-cat
You're just baiting, right? You can't be serious. Unikitty isn't even popular; if it were, not only this thread, but every Lego Movie thread, would be full of porn of it. I'm not sure how you can compare one annoying cutesy character to fucking bronies, or how you could be deluded enough to think that the only reason anyone could like it is because of one character. If you had said that the only reason you can think of people liking it being the animation, I'd understand; even a complete and utter moron must be aware that the animation in this movie is fucking spectacular. Not to mention the incredible attention to details. Even the story, for a kid's movie, managed to be pretty good. The twist at the end was fucking incredible, and I can't think of any other animated movie with a twist that good.

I guess my point is that I have to know: How could you possibly think that Unikitty is the SOLE reason why people like this movie?

One of my favourite things was the way the world reflects exactly how a used lego collection functions and looks.

Stuff like a used plaster being among the relics, the mixing and matching by the Master Builders and eventually everyone at the end, and the main threat being Krazy Glue.

Yes it's all set up to the twist but even before that, they really drew on what playing with Lego involved for kids.

It gets me every time. It just feels like there's so much genuine sincerity behind the message of the movie.
