Can we all agree that this is a Masterpiece?

Yeah Joe Sacco did a short piece about that years ago which was pretty good. Also showed a lot about the actual trainees.

Not an SJW, but he couldn't comprehend the idea that the only people in Iraq willing to enlist post-Saddam were the bottom barrel rejects that no sane country would allow to complete basic training despite the fact that ISIS is currently buttfucking the country.

It's been many years since I've read something this good from Vertigo, that's for sure. Can't wait for the rumored new bach of titles to hit the shelves, I hope they'll take some cues from Based King.

Everything I like is a masterpiece, coincidentally everything I don't like is also the worst shit ever.
>>
>>81191865
Yes.
>>
>>81191691
I think one of our biggest mistakes in Iraq was completely dismantling the country's infrastructure. I understand that there was a need to ensure that absolutely every thing was free Ba'ath Party influence, but taking away people's water and power, even temporarily, did us no favors, and disbanding the military turned a lot of suddenly unemployed men with training and experience towards the insurgency. And as you said, it also forced us to rely on rejects when we finally started to unfuck the whole situation.
>>
>>81191806
Thanks, didn't know of King but he seems based as fuck.
>>
>>81191924
Gosh, it's almost like US foreign military intervention never works and actually ends up making things worse
>>
>>81191924
The first mistake was removing Saddam at all. The region needs strongmen as leaders or things turn fucky right quick. Just look a Quaddafi, removing him is what led to the african migrent crisis and the State Department knew that, look at Hillary gloating that the US did the right thing whule at the same time claiming that ISIS came out of nowhere.
>>
>>81191700
Had this actually happened during the occupation, there would have been a Fallujah-like response
>>
>>81192041
lol seriously that shithole doesn't need any help being more shitty.
>>
>>81191110
I'm glad its a Vertigo title that's not "[X], but with horror/supernatural elements!".
>>
>>81191924
I think the biggest problem with iraqi was we thought goat fuckers could make a government
instead of just knocking out saddam and letting them make their own government we got the bright idea that we could magically make our own with out wiping out the local population. its not like we lost tens of thousands of troops more americans where shot and killed in chicago than iraqi but still
>>
>>81192041
But that's wrong. Intervention done properly is not an inherently bad thing. Iraq, obviously, was not an example of this.
>>
America has never helped anyone.
Even their participation in WW2 was just a self-serving ploy to enact the marshal plan on Europe and gain control of everything.
>>
>>81192041
Intervention works. "Nation-building" in a culture that simply does not grok things a Western culture takes for granted, does not.

>Korea

>Iraq Part 1

I'm sure it has the potential to work, but as the US has deployed it, it's always ALWAYS been a mistake that makes things worse

Eh, Vertigo's publishing great stuff right now, they were publishing great stuff 2-3 years ago too.
>>
>>81197380
>>
>>81197436
>>
>>81197461
And that's it for now. The new issue comes out next week.
>>
>>81197506
Nah, issue 4 was out a while back. Next month is 5.
>>
>>81197428
Yeah, it's unfortunate that barely any of it has gotten attention, let alone sales.

American Vampire is basically the only new Vertigo book in the last few years to get the sales and attention. Maybe Sweet Tooth too.
DC is clearly hoping that King's popularity goes up once his Batman comes out like it did with Snyder, and that's why Sheriff went from an 8 issue mini to a 12 issue mini to an ongoing.

The books failing and some writers have just one Rebirth book is why the BC rumor of established things like Doom Patrol having a Vertigo series later on seems likely to me.
>>
>>81197676
Wait, it's an ongoing now? That freaking sucks.
>>
>>81197708
Yea I don't see this premise sustaining itself without shitting the bed eventually.
>>
>>81197600
No shit? Then give me a minute, I'll post the next one once I find it.
>>
>>81197708
Why?
>>
>>81197836
I like my comics to be brief-ish, because I've found that less-issues = better story. That, and less-issues = better for my wallet.

Also>>81197755
>>
>>81197935
That's fair
>>
>>81198103
Mind you, I ain't saying anybody who likes longer stuff is a horrible person. I just got my preference, you know?

>>81191691
Thats not racism.

Incompetence knows no color
>>
It started off as a good story with great writing, but issue four is where the story becomes more clear and interesting, and it really takes off.
>>
It's not the type of book I can read monthly
