If there is anything BvS did right I'd get me interested in Superman.
Any recommended runs? And I don't mean in the same tone as BvS. Quote the opposite is preferred.

Who the fuck is mot
The Man of Steel by John Byrne. Great run that redefined Superman. Read it and you'll start to understand why Superman was done the way he was in the Man of Steel movie.
The 90's Superman with Dan Jurgens and Joe Kelly among others is a lot better than people give it credit for. It includes Death of Superman and Reign of the Supermen. Good stuff.
I also suggest Grant Morrison's JLA run, has a lot of my favorite Superman moments in it.
How new are you to Superman comics?
My basic starter recs would probably be All Star Superman, Birthright and Red Son.
All Star Superman if you just want one.

Fucking how, he doesn't spend all his time brooding and being a hypocrite in the comics.

Very new. I just finished All Star

Do not read All-Star Superman as a beginner. It's extremely different from modern Superman because it's a tribute to the Silver Age version of the character.
I love it but sadly it's created legions of faggots who think that's what Superman is supposed to be.

Thanks. I'll look em up

Well too late for that. It was recommended by someone else.

The complaints of his portrayal is what started the curiosity.
I am very bad at recommending things but one thing that comes to mind is Up, Up & Away by Johns and Busiek.
Also Secret Identity by Busiek.
And you know what, Superman/Batman by Loeb and eventually other writers is pretty good at times.

Oh, and Gail Simone has a short run called Superman: Strange Attractors which is nice.

Also worth mentioning is a specific story in Kelly's run: "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way?", in which Superman is confronted by what is essentially Warren Ellis's The Authority and has his no-killing rule challenged by their popularity. It was also adapted into an animated DVD movie a few years ago, "Superman vs. the Elite". I haven't read the original story, but I did see the movie version, and I highly recommend it, OP. It's pretty much the anti-MoS/BvS.

All Star Superman is Grant Morrison taking THIS era of comics seriously. Elevating all the cartoonish absurdity into mythology.
It's the exact opposite of an intro to Superman.
>>81191804
No, it's just taking the power level of Silver Age Superman and applying it to a more modern Superman
