Actually, yes. I did. Better than Ben 10, easy. (Although, until Omniverse, Ben 10 was pretty good)

I don't know if like it the word I would use to describe my emotions towards it. I didn't look forward to new episodes but when it was on I wouldn't change the channel.

Yeah. Watched it every saturday or whatever.

It had it's meh moments but still the best action cartoon of its time.

If it could actually keep a coherent plot I would have.

I enjoyed it and thought it ended really badly because it couldn't sell merchandise.

Ultimate Alien was garbage. The gimmick with the ultimates got old so fast they had to write a shoddy episode about them being sentient. And Vilgax being someone's bitch was just stupid.

No. It had an interesting premise, but all the characters were one-dimensional as fuck and nothing interesting ever happened.

that's one thing that I remember being VERY very inconsistent about the series: just how badly it's being affected
one minute life is normal except for the occasional monster attack, the next there are massive uninhabitable swaths of the earth.
I mean I guess that's realistic actually

>>
>>81182675

I think the implication was that since Providence got Rex, he helped clean up the situation in the bigger, more important countries, like America and so on. Of course, it's hard to say what areas got affected the worst, since it was only the Bug Jar that got shat on the hardest because it's magnetic crusts or whatever attracted a shitload of nanites.
>>
>>81181928
This show always made me wish there would be a SCP cartoon.
>>
>>81182700

But the original is the best by far. No contradictive bullshit/retcons, and the humor was always balanced and never too over the top (like OV) or painfully forced (like most of AUF).

Well shit just randomly turned into monsters. That one guy was going around with other dudes just killing them whenever they showed up. Those two dudes that didn't make it into Providence made a business out of dealing with Evos that were more pests than threats. It's just with Kiev a large number just turned into evos all at once. They just sealed it up and then it was just out of sight out of mind.
>>
>>81182680
Better than nothing but not that great and unltimately something you could have done yourself.

Like every other hand job EVER if you're over 14 or not having it done in public.
>>
>>81182752
it was always too over the top and completely and utterly forced. you'd have to be a very small child to enjoy it
and while it didnt have any retcons, it also didnt make any goddamn sense to any even halfway serious fan of scifi. it was pretty much solid bullshit
i'm not saying it made any sense to polish that turd, but holy shit did they polish it. coming into alien force felt like finding out that the new MLP was good.
>>
>>81182752
It is.

I mean, why was AUF such a trainwreck? It was like if writers didn't knew how to create a plot with a bit more darker atnosphere without going over the top edgy.
>>
>61 episodes for Rex
>A few hundred for ben 10
Is it worth starting from scratch with both shows?
>>
>>81182747
The fuck is SCP?
>>
>>81182838

Where? The humor wasn't nearly as forced or over the top like the later series where they made Ben stupid because "that's what Ben always has been".

First series, his stupidity and comedy was expected because he was a literal kid, whereas AF post-Highbreed made him go full retard because "muh hero of the universe", and then OV had some mandate that for every episode where Ben was reasonably competent, he had 2 episodes following where he'd be completely retarded because "that wacky goofball Ben!"

And why would it need to be serious for sci-fi fans? It was made for kids in general, so the need for hard-science was kind of moot.

i'm not saying hard science, just scifi. like shit that makes any goddamn sense and isnt goofy. they did amazing things with that in the good era. the show started to feel like some kind of mix of doctor who and half-life (with ample references to both).

Look, I really like OV (mostly for character design and combining the canons of OS and UAF) but even I admit the original probably beats it out.

OV's art style took a bit to get used to, but the love and effort put into the designs shows- from combining the best parts of OS and UAF designs to create something that was objectively the best. Sure, Gwen and Kevin looked weird, but we also got alien forms with proper clothes and background characters/races with actual designs and not just copy-pasted shit. (Citizens of Anur Transyl, Tetramands, Galvans, Galvanic Mechamorphs, those two Appolexians, the Kra'aho, that cave woman Vaxxasaurian, everything with Ben 23 and Mad Ben, even freaking turning Pesky Dust and The Worst into more than one-off gags with actual use.
>>
>>81182852

For Rex, sure.

As for Ben, kind of up to you. The original series is worth a full watch, along with the movies (both the first animated one, and the CG one). After that, kind of up to your discretion. AF had an interesting beginning premise; being darker than the first ever had been, but kind of throws that out the window with many inconsistencies (such as Ben taking damage in Alien form, and WHY it even happened). Not to mention the highly debatable retcons it made. UA's gimmick was just stupid, and thankfully abandoned fairly early on, but if you couldn't stand most of AF, then you probably won't even want to both with UA.

As for OV, it's the most mixed bag of them all. It does a fairly good job at emulating a brighter style reminiscent of the original series, but it becomes all too apparent too early on that the CN and Wyatt were sucking on OS' cock like it was going out of style, with its retcons and changes being probably the most contested because of how it almost removes UAF from existence beyond core elements (like Kevin becoming good and hooking up with Gwen, Plumbers being the MiB of the universe).
>>
>>81182953

Eh, they never really did anything good in any of the shows. It was always kiddie science shit. First series at least had some grounded sense with the watch sort of "morphing" the user into an alien, then the later series tried to juggle the whole "he does sort of become a sort of empty shell alien who isn't alive or dead or whatever".

Shit really wasn't ever that consistent, sadly. In any of the series.
>>
>>81182953
You know, the whole High-Breed thing with AF was real nice. Except for Kevin and Gwen somehow dating within 2 episodes, the arc wasn't too bad.

But with the later seasons of Alien Force and entire run of the Ultimate Alien, it was painfully obvious that CN haven't put an ounce of effort into them.

I mean, I can respect you for wanting more mature Ben 10 series, but can you take a show that blatantly rips off Digimon with the lazy alien evolution gimmick as seriously?

Never said that OV was bad, but you can't deny that when they wrote Ben as a retard for whichever episode he was a retard, they really didn't pull any punches. It's like whoever was told to write Ben as an idiot was told "Make him like an idiot teenager, but WAY more stupid than natural".

>>
>>81183100

Not that guy, but I do think the Ultimate forms could have worked with a better reasoning (supercharging the DNA rather than "these are the forms after 2 billions of war), and making it that the forms are more limited in time usage so Ben could only assume them for a brief time before reverting.

Also, none of that random sentience thing, that was just pointless since it begins and ends in the same episode.
>>
>>81183034
I remember I stopped watching UA a season in because some of the bullshit like Agreggor being nothing and all that Knight bullshit.

OV gave us actual names for Benmummy, Benwolf, and Benvicktor (being Snare-oh, Blitzwolfer, and Frankenstrike) and had some really great episodes including everything with Mad Ben, the entire Halloween arc, that episode where Kevin and Rook bond at a car auction, the one where the Appolexians and Marshmellow people sign a treaty, Malware, etc etc etc.
>>
>>81183179
The Ultimate forms were a retarded idea because Ben never had any reason to not use them, and with the exception of Swampfire they all had shittier designs.

Say what you want about OV, but you can't deny that the aliens had way more effort put into them compared to the entirety of UAF.

Eatle and Andromeda galaxy aliens were literally pulled out of CN's ass for toys and OV managed to make them cool.

Fair fair, but then again I also mostly watch shows for character design.

And OV having a consistent design and tons of homages and references coupled with Derrick J Wyatt, who also did another of my favorite series Transformers Animated, helps too.

Hell, I like the prequels only for character design and architecture. As actual stories they're crap, but I'm a sucker for design.

True. Though I still place some blame on him for the more bizarre changes (like Gwen being part alien and Kevin just turning good within an hour of meeting with Ben). Granted, I think I had heard something about him not being given time to fully brush up on the original series lore, which is why so many things were different. Meaning that was he wasn't so much as retconning things, but filling spots he didn't know were already filled. Though I could be mistaken, since the information concerning what went on behind the scenes had always been kind of kept quiet. It wasn't until Wyatt came along that we got someone on the series who would divulge any details asked of him, where he could answer them, of course.

>>
>>81184554

Maybe Biowulf and Skalamander, but Van Kleiss had caused her a lot of pain, I doubt she'd be so forgiving.

>>81184685

Nope, she lived. Not too long into the final season, they show flashbacks of Van Kleiss winding up in Egypt, then using a machine to send himself forward in time to escape an anomaly, but only as far as the Roman Empire. He's then shown jumping forward, while Rex and Bobo are finding clues about Van Kleiss before finally tracking down his machine.

Turns out, Van Kleiss has just been putting himself into a sort of deep sleep, barely keeping his mind intact because he was never really moving through time and space, just waiting shit out. And the anomaly is Breach, who turned into a weird wormhole after the device broke in season 2.
