Now, the question with Trans people is, how would you fix them? You cannot give them some sort of gene therapy. The Genes making them male/female have already been expressed in puberty. Their brains are already wired incorrectly. Same thing with some fantastical new body. You could grow an entire human body, transplant their brains into it, and it wouldn't matter, the hormones caused by puberty and life have already affected their brains. That's the issue. The problem isn't with their physical body. The issue is with their brains, and the hormones being released, and the experiences they've had in life. To "fix" a trans person is to make them a cis person, essentially, through radical brain surgery and therapy or something.

That's the way Willy works. He expects the readers to know what's in his head when he's writing even though he never makes it clear on the page. Then he gets mad when people can't read his mind and crams obvious exposition in at the next opportunity so no-one can claim it wasn't clear.

Yes, definitely. The issue is also, this is kind of a very niche situation. I imagine parents might have an unconscious preference for one kid over the other. No one is without prejudices, be it race, sex, orientation, or even just their mannerisms and speech. I can totally understand that a white woman may unconsciously treat her son better if he looks whiter, simply because she grew up around more white people.
The issue is, it's not. Different. Enough. Walky and Sal look basically the same (then again everyone does. Willis can only draw like 3 people. Everyone has the same bangs even!) And while we know that Walky has straight hair while Sal's is naturally curly, that's all we get for their differences. And yet Linda treats Sal RADICALLY different. As if to tell us that Linda IS consciously neglecting Sal. But that doesn't make sense EITHER. You're forced to assume the neglect has something to do with the fact that she's a criminal. Or that her being a criminal exacerbated the neglect? Because if her mom was really THAT bigoted, she wouldn't have fucked a black guy in the first place.

My current idea is that Walky raised himself, he was smart enough to ace school and spent the rest of his time in front of a tv. His parents didn't care what he did, which is why he's such a manchild and you never hear about him having a friend.
Sal had trouble in class and only got reprimands without any assistance, so she kept being shittier and shittier. Then she robbed a store, went off to a boarding school, and somehow did well enough under supervision to get into the same university and as Walky.
I'm not saying that kids aren't bad, and don't do bad things, but if a kid is robbing stores at 13, that seems like a parental fuck up. But I do think he could stand to do a better job of showing actual racism. So many comments relating to Sal just conflate her bad behaviour and school performance with her 'being blacker' which is the worstespecially as a black reader with a science degree.Show your work, Willis!
