Well shit, I've been living under a rock for awhile now.
Unpopular opinion, but I actually like the simple artstyle. I've always been a fan of simplicity in art, and the different dimensions more than make up for it with how gorgeous they are.
I enjoy it. I certainly wasn't expecting the feelsy episodes, but like the humor, and I like Rick as character.

Liked the first season a lot. Came out of nowhere, and was pretty funny most of the time, with the very very odd serious moment.
Did not like the second season much as a whole though. Felt like Rick's character really really backtracked in terms of development. Not to mention they decided not to pursue the only interesting existing plot line of evil Morty.
It almost felt like they couldn't decide if they wanted to do season 1 again, or be more like Bojack horseman. Where the first season was fresh, the second felt like a retreading of tired ideas.

Also I think the writers need a break. Season 2 was stale in a lot of places. Due to their unique process they need to give it time so that the quality is good. If they keep pumping out subpar stream of conciousness shit I will walk on the series.

The noticeable moment where people complained about season 2 at all was Get Shwifty. All the threads up until then were positive as usual, that episode marks the moment people turned and started saying season 2 was all bad and the whole thing went down hill. Personally i didnt like it either, but that one thing gave shitposters all the fuel they needed to say the series was ruined forever and ever.
As for the fanbase i'm guessing they mean reddit and tumblr, but unless they frequent those sites themselves i dont know how they even know how bad they are.

The first two episodes were actually really good, then it went downhill fairly quickly and fairly far, and only briefly resurged for that car battery episode.
Like, it delved into cringeworthily bad with Tiny Rick and that just sours almost the entire character.
I'm one of the ones who thought the first Cable episode was trash so the second one was double as bad for me.

Like, I dunno, I feel like Season 1's success was bad for Season 2. With a character like Rick you have to toe a fine line to not make him just a cunt, rather than an entertaining cunt, and being so well received made them too cocky or something, and they just flew right past that threshold.
Morty was very weird, he seemed to be progressing to more Rick-like characteristics for a little while, which was good, and then at some point he just got a big whack of the retard stick while losing any and all of that progress.
The one plus about Season 2 being so terrible is that I'm not fussed about the wait for the next series because I probably won't even watch it unless I hear really good things. Fuck you Venture Bros.

I'm gonna call bullshit on this one, especially the math and memorization of esoteric rules that some table top requires.
Sometimes it's real good, sometimes it's forgetable and formulaic, sometimes it's an episode-length Roiland internet short, and then there are episodes that are absolute dogshit like Get Schwifty or 95% of Raising Gazorpazorp.
I like the subtle changes happening between the Rick Morty Dynamic, maybe they'll do more of that.

Yeah, that makes sense. But still, this is Dan Harmon. His response to people saying Community would never top its painball episode from Season 1 was to do a two-part paintball episode in Season 2 that had generally shittier action and a weaker premise.
He reused so many concepts in that series. Abed as Batman, the fake clip show, blanket forts.....

I think it's... pretty good. It's usually very funny, but it got kind of repetitive as time went on. The only really good episodes of the second season imho was Total Rickall and the finale.
Also, what the fuck I was NOT expecting the Battlestar Galactica casting nod, so I shat my pants out of surprise there.The fact that they were cyborgs was the icing on the cake.

Morty and Morty junior was a pretty good B plot, but the pile of boring cliches that was the Rick and Summer A plot made it one of the two episodes I refuse to watch again.
A much funnier and possibly more poignant A plot could have been a flashback or some shit of Beth and Jerry being teen pregnant, maybe making the same or worse mistakes they were shitting on Morty for.
