In this case it doesn't bother me (yet) because us knowing barely anything about her is Marco's own stupid fault for freaking out and bailing like every time she's around.
From what we've seen she's much more chill and "normal" in her behavior than all the other characters, but also seems to enjoy risky/unconventional things.
Now if Jackie had actually accompanied Star and Marco on their adventures and we still knew nothing about her I'd be complaining. But at this point she hasn't even had more than 5 lines in any episode and her presence is usually used more as a motivation for Marco to do whatever, rather than she herself affecting the plots in any way.

Yeah it's a probem with a lot of shows, in that they introduce the love interest then use them as an object for the story, without also giving them screen time either with or without the main character invested in them. There's too much of the pine from afar mentality as it's a safe option, most people can relate to an extent.
I think in this instance we may avoid that trend in season 2, given the small instances so far in season 1 which have looked to push Marco into actually being proactive. Season 1 was very focused on setting up the Star and Marco friendship dynamicwhich it did exceedingly wellthat secondary and supporting characters were left with little screen time for actual development. Daron has stated that they want to look more into secondary characters in season 2, and with season 3 confirmed it only makes sense for them to develop a supporting cast, which is good new for those of us who want to see characters like Jackie and Janna or even Tom developed.

You should have seen some of the expectations in the lead up threads to live episodes. When the artwork for IDFT dropped there were so many theories about what would happen, many of which involved Jackie and Janna getting some series screen time. It didn't quite meet expectations, but was certainly still enjoyable.

Well that's the big question, will Marco still like her as much once he gets to know her better, the reverse being applicable as well. Having shared interests is a big part of this, and we don't really know what Jackie likes at present, outside of skateboarding and parties. If she not only likes skateboarding, but also other action oriented sports then Marco may have a shot, something to connect with her through given his martial arts and increasing desire to fight monsters with Star. A lot of fan works interpret her in the light as a result, which fits quite nicely.

I did it, /sveg/... I managed to survive Easter.
4 days going to bed at 2 AM and waking up at 6 and not sitting down at all for around 16 hours each day. And I survived! I'm a bit sad i missed the entire weekend but hey, at least y'all were free from my obnoxious spamming for a change, I hope you enjoyed it.

Well, I was one of the biggest pushes for the trailer for season 2 being shown during the Gravity Falls finale, so take my words with a pinch of salt. I do think it's a possibility, it would be a smart time to net in as many people as possible who are watching throughout the day and the new episodes could be next month or in May which would fit a first trailer around about now.
All we can do is wait and see really.
