It never went anywhere. 70 issues of Dick struggling against D-list villains who Dixon played as complete jokes (Stallion, Brutale, Shrike, Torque, Nite-Wing, etc.) and trying and failing to topple Blockbuster. Occasionally Dick would cross over to other Dixon/Batgroup projects and job out to show just how powerful this new enemy really is.
I have a soft spot in my heart for the Dixon/McDaniel run and the slow buildup of DickBabs but the run as a whole feels like it cemented Dick as an ineffectual solo hero.

It's great, street level stuff and Dixon has an innate understanding of the entire Bat Family. The rogues may leave something to be desired and the arcs aren't particularly bombastic but it's a better straightforward cape book than 99% of what DC has put out in the past decade.

I've been reading it chronologically as the trades come out. I'd say start at the beginning and see how you feel. The O'Neil miniseries is serviceable and the proper series finds its groove pretty early on. Don't go in expecting to have your mind blown and just enjoy chilling with Dick and you'll have a good time.
