There was an event called Conversion which had characters from alternate universes, time lines, and other realities facing each other to see who was going to be the Earth Prime.
Anyway in the end of the event the 52 universe theory was reborn, but to keep it we needed to have some of the PC heroes go into a void to protect the fabric or some bullshit ( the writing wasn't the greatest in this arc) anyway because of this Pre-Crisis Superman and his family with Lois and Johnended up in the New 52 universe, which is the current Earth-Prime. Okay waitaminute. I just looked into the PC superman lois and clark thing.
So i was under the impression the nu52 was like all the previous multiverse worlds born anew. that the nu52 superman and batman and such were the new incarnations born of the old universe. So in a weird narrative way the prior characters lived on IN THEM.
But based on this that isn't what happened at all. what seems to have happened is the old universe fucking ended and superman and lois and their kid just happened to survive and make it to the nu52 one.
So like PC batman, captain marvel, wonder woman, matter eater lad, and Martian manhunter are all just fucking dead! They lost their lives and their stories came to an abrupt void with the end of their respective universe.
Because that is kind of a fucked up fate for our heroes.
