It's hard to do ongoing story arcs with 11-minute episodes. this is how you do it. one episode sets up crazy betty trying to fix the crown, one lets her capture and alter the crown, and now we see the next step
step after that will probably be the most conclusive.. but in case it never does, at least we know simon is somewhat happy in there. and he's just one of many people trapped in there, so.. he's not that tragic

well, she only started smiling either in response to marcy saying she kicked ash to the kerb, or possibly marcy's goofy-ass spluttering at the word "boyfriend" before that. it's not like she was totally indifferent. bear in mind how closed off she's been historically; this episode shows her making a lot of effort.
also "who doesn't love a good rhomboid?" / "you're a rhomboid" - that was at the very least a sly homage to the also suggestive bucket-o-food scene in stakes and no one can convince me otherwise
