Ad for the Megazine, which is... OK-ish at the moment.
>>
>>81070372
Dredd looks fucking huge in that last panel.
>>
>>81070495
Up next, Tharg's 3rillers, a fairly recent series of short three-ep stories.

And that's it for this week's prog! Hope you enjoyed it, earthlets.
>>
>>81071594
More of a spiritual successor, but yeah. Just no intergalactic arenas or midget aliens. Yet.
>>
>>81071701
oh.
Well das still pretty cool.
Kinda hoping for Battak to show up now.

Anyway great prog,
Dredd was a good start, although the villain is just mave the many armed from an old SD story.

3riller had a cool start and the art is fantastic, love the pikey with the b-ball bat.

Deadworld seemed cool, fave thing is the judge at the last panel.

Survival Geeks hasnt caught me as much as the last story did but will likely improve.

Aquila seems like something im gonna love.
>>
>>81072158
ZOG ZOG MOTHERFUCKERS!
Anywho, yeah, I'm pretty hyped for this line-up too. Carroll has promised some tragedy of sorts in this story, so I'm not liking Rico's chances of coming outta this one alive. 3riller's nice and I do like the art. I really, really like the atmosphere setting in Deadworld, how they waited until literally the last panel to show the judges. And Aquila is indeed pretty awesome swords-and-sandals bloody fantasy.
As for Survival Geeks... at least the art's very nice.
>>
>>81070172
Good show JA. I won't be reading this until I get a print copy soon but it is good to see Macneil on art for a jump prog, it is possibly a more visually accessible counterpart to Ezquerra's style, for newcomers.
>>
>>81072502
I also enjoy the way Macneil draws cloaked judges.
>>
>>81072502
>>81072534
Yup. And O'Grady's doing absolute wonders with the colors. I like ultra dark heavy shaded MacNeil as much as the next guy, but the tones in this one are all kinds of awesome. Especially in the Cursed Earth scenes.
Plus, dat Hershey... Dem crow's feets...

Fuck me, when did summary executions become a thing in Dredd? Chaos Bug?
>>
>>81074297
It's been a thing at least as far back as the Apocalypse War, but only for very specific cases (ie: treason). That said, Day of Chaos did involve a LOT of summary executions, and considering how dangerous this particular gang of fucks can be and how outstretched Justice Dept's resources are, I wouldn't be surprised if there's been a few slight changes in policy.

Instead of making a thread,I will ask it here.

2000AD seems overwhelming and I have a very little experience in comics.
Is there any guide on Judge Dred and other 2000AD comics i.e. what should read and how much is there worth reading type of guide?

Thanking you in advance.
>>
>>81077698
This is the latest version of the Dredd recommended reading list.
As for 2000AD in general, since it's an anthology with a bunch of different rotating series, your best bet is to look up some summaries of those series and see which one is in your ballpark. Do you like fantasy? Try Slaine. Do you like space westerns? Check out Strontium Dog. Future War? Rogue Trooper. Crazy-ass euro-style sci-fi fantasy? Nemesis the Warlock. Alan Moore? The Ballad of Halo Jones. And so forth.
Thing about 2000AD is that while it may seem daunting, most of its stuff is exceedingly easy to get into and very straightforward.
>>
>>81077863
Thank you, kind anon.
>>
>>81077863
Is there a way to subscribe to this in the US? None of my LCS's carry it.
>>
>>81070458
I think I in love
>>
>>81070959
Groan, it's like the unholy spawn of Sliders and the Big Bang Theory. At least the art is fun
>>
>>81071186
Nice!

>>81078695
International subs are available but shipping costs make them expensive. Drm free digital progs are available from the 2000ad website 2000adonline.com
>>
>>81074297
I figure that guy isn't a citizen or even a perp but more an enemy combatant. Plus the two of them clearly aren't in a position to take prisoners
>>
>>81080752
This. Cursed Earth muties and raiders have always been subject to instant justice.

Will you post the rest of the JAnderson storytime? Or at least provide a link to the book?

/co/mrades, what was the name of that old (probably mid to late 90's) 2000AD story with the two adult twins with different coloured troll doll hair? One of them went to hell, where he would continuously fall onto a spike and be impaled while "I should be so lucky, lucky lucky lucky" played?
>>
>>81082835
That does sound very 90's 2000ad but doesn't ring any bells for me. Could it have been in the Megazine?
>>
>>81082889
Hrm, I don't think so. Thanks though.
>>
>>81083050

From 1981 there was also a Judge Dredd newspaper strip which was used to promote the parent comic. It was usually illustrated by Ron Smith (who drew the fatties and Otto sump stories.) The comics work as an introduction to Dredd in general and are fun.

They have started to be collected in hardback with the first volume out already, covering 1981-86.) Pic related.
>>
>>81094007

They are quite nifty as a way of introducing the various gadgets and customs in MC1
>>
>>81094221
So they would be a worthy addition to the Dredd recommended list for new readers. That's all from me for now.

The was that one time, at Psi-Camp, where Cass fought off Satan (difficulty level 88) and actually then got thanked by Dredd (difficulty level 98).

>>
>>81098779
Not just thanked, got a personal apology and an admittance of friendship. I don't think there's anybody else in history who has got all three. That's got to be level 100+ at least.

In context that's even more impressive, because Cass had only just come back from an extended leave of absence from Earth which Dredd had viewed as her abandoning her duties to Mega City One, a personal insult and, though he'd never, ever admit it, a really hurtful dismissal of their friendship
