Much of the style of a film is in it's blocking and editing.
The hollywood system isn't really set up to accommodate someone whose only gift is style.
Typically this kind of director might luck out and get a good script with good actors a few times.
Or maybe despite their handicap they'll makes something everyone can't help but like because their style is just so refreshing and interesting.
But eventually their other weaknesses will show. They'll make several stinkers in a row. All their movies will start to look the same. And then they'll get dumped into the pile of has-beens. There are a *ton* of former 'bigshots' in hollywood that have ended up just like that.
A film director is supposed to be an auteur. He has to do more than just 'make stuff look cool'. He has to control it all -- he has to do it all. As stated the reviews don't matter. This movie can have a rating of 19% and WB/DC would not give a flaming fuck, at all.
The only thing that matters is the box office gross. That's the only thing WB/DC is looking at right now. In order for this movie to be declared a success it has to hit a overall box office gross between 1 to 2 billion dollars.
The thing that you guys are ignoring is the user reviews which are around 80%. So that means a shit ton of casuals will pour their money into this film.
So show all the low metric scores you want but in the end this movie will be declared a success because it brought in a mad amount of $$$.
