The first three episodes weren't bad. There was no reason at that point that the series had to be bad. It was a starting point, with not much meat but decent bones. It's just that immediately after the third episode, everything went completely to shit, and not even in a gradual way.

In order to prepare them to fight Hannibal Roy Bean they are sent to train under Master Monk Gaun. Raimundo doesn't like how stict he is and they fight and Raimundo leaves. Then HRB convinces Raimundo to join him and he challneges Omi to a showdown and they all bet a shit load of Shen Gong Wu and Raimundo throws the fight. Turned out to be one big ruse cooked up between Raimundo and Gaun
