What is your LCS like? Any horror stories or good times? Ever socialize with people there?
>>
My LCSs are pretty well known, so no horror stories to speak of. They attract classy clientele.

I legit feel sorry for people with no LCS. I use to live in a place with tons of comic shops.
>>
>Open 2 days a week for five hours a day
>Lots of backissues but they're all full price
>New releases are shunted to a tiny wall and it's only Marvel/DC
>Most of the store is meant to hold "rare" regular books and comics in glass cabinets being sold for vastly overblown prices
>Teenagers that work there don't know shit

Not a fan to be quite honest family
>>
>Most of the back issues are overpriced 90s books or in shitty condition and over priced
>full of Magik fags
>Magik fags are loud and annoying neckbeards
>Magik fags every where
>>
I have two LCS one close to me and one thats a little out of the way.
I really am not fond of the one close to me, I have literally bought my first comics as a child there and I don't think the owner even recognizes me when I walk in. I have attempted conversation with him but he talks over me alot. Hes not a super asshole or anything I just feel unwelcome there.
The LCS thats a little outta of the way is the exact opposite real friendly, talkative and a good selection of comics as well. But its out of the way and I am lazy. So I guess I only have my self to blame for my troubles.

>go to LCS for a MTG tournament
>Never actually played at this shop before but decided to give it a go
>It's a draft
>Playing against some kid for first place
>only 2 minutes left before the game ends in draw
>I can win on my next turn
>Kid spends the rest of the time just looking at his hand doing nothing
>Ask for the person in charge because the kid was just delaying for the draw
>Owner says "Quit being such a bad sport and let him take his turn"
>game ends in draw
>I go to the bathroom
>Come back and apparently the kid told the guy in charge he won
>Guy in charge says that the guy has been a regular player for 2 years and trusts him more than me

Mine is small, inside the lobby of my local cenima actually. I worked in that building for almost 10 years, so it's a trip each week I walk in there and speak with the new owners about my pull list.

This pic was taken on their opening day. I was one of the first costumers to set up a pull list.

Small, but I sense heart. Not Bad.
>>
Only 2 nearby as in an hour drive. The one is relatively small but the owner is a friendly neckbeard. The other is much larger but is more in the business of dealing in card games or wh40k, plus the owner killed 2 people previously. No horror stories from either of them, the former I met some nice people at and a friend whom I regularly hang out with, the larger one has alot of elitist "nerds" but its worth putting up with to see a larger collection

>plus the owner killed two people previously

what.
>>
>>81006267
He had some problems with break-ins back in 2003 and 2010. Both times he stayed in the shop after hours and when the thief broke in he shot them and killed them as a result. The owner himself is a nice guy and he has moved his store to a safer location but some people are still uneasy to go there.

Go to mine every Wednesday. These last few weeks, same time as me, there's this head shaved head bony fella who comes in with a 20 something woman in full scrubs sporting a nametag.

At first I noticed that he's really agressive with his mannerisms. Guy isn't a total tool but you get the sense that he doesn't fully grasp normal conversation. Like he's not all there, right? Would explain the nurse attending him. One of the clerks turned to her assuming she was handling the money or something and boney just up and lost it. Didn't go on long but was pretty shrilly about how he always paid for his own things. Not 20 seconds later he was all smiles and thanked the clerk.

Just last week I realize he has a HUGE fucking scar running all across the back of his head. Dunno how I never saw it before. He's never separated from that nurse so I guess I don't really have much of a chance of asking her what's up with it but I assume he either got seriously fucked up or had some kind of crazy surgery. Honestly though, seems to explain his social quirks.

I tend to go on too long about my LCS so I'll condense it down to very nice.

It's been the first comic shop we've had in town in the past 20 years, before I had ro take a bus or drive 80 miles (there and back again) to get to the closest shop. And that place fucking sucks.
>>
>>81000410
We don't actually have comic stores in Poland.
>I mean, we do in biggest towns, but there's maybe total of 10 stores in the entire country.
>>
>>81005400
That sucks dude, I wouldn't go back there

>>
>since middle school, go by my LCS a couple of times a year
>as of about two-three months ago start going every week
>get a pull list set up
>forgets stuff sometimes but it's better than my old comic store
>one day hanging out with my best friend who's a girl, bring her to the comic shop with me
>i'm looking for a job, don't really want to work there but my friend insists
>she asks if they were hiring for me
>owner takes that as her asking for a job, says something along the lines of "We're not hiring at the moment, but you're more beautiful than the other guy working here so maybe I'll have to fire him"
>jokingly but obviously flirtatious
>she's visibly upset and tells me she was uncomfortable after we leave

Should I just find a new shop, /co/? Start coming in when the other guy's working? I get it was probably just a joke but for all he knew he could've been hitting on my gf, and that pisses me off.

Anyway other than that they got a nice selection of graphic novels, you're not gonna find obscure stuff there but you'll get your basics (and for 25% off cover price on all graphic novels and trades) so it's a good deal

There's one in my hood at a 5 min bus ride. I go there once a month or almost every sale.

The owner and his wife are pretty chill and welcoming. One of the girls working there is pretty cute, looks like a blonde Moira Burton. I don't talk with them much though, because I'm too busy browsing through their comics.

Oh by the way, it may look small but the store is made of 5 different rooms.

Holy shit it is, I see that employee everytime I go too. OP where are you ;__;
>>

Man, that's an awesome LCS.
We only have small comic stores all around the country, who only sell european comics and the most popular DC n Marvel comic issues/volumes.
It's pretty much a dying culture in my country.

>Magik fags
You mean Magik from Marvel or Magic the gathering?
>>

There was a few I knew of in the city I used to live in, but one of them really took the cake!

I remember going in for the first time (2002) and I left thinking that the people running the place really must hate comics. Hanging from the ceiling where hand made signs with stupid things written on them, one saying "Don't ask about Resident Evil Comic! They do not exist!!!". They where not lighthearted jokes. In one room there was a massive table in the center (giving you little room to move around). On top of the table where boxes filled with comics in plastic pouches. While this is a common thing to see, they had packed the boxes so tightly, you had to remove a good chunk of comics before you could even see what they where. The moment you did take some out, they put them back before you even had a look. I grabbed the first thing that looked interesting (a No.1 issue of Bastard!! from Viz, for £2) and made my purchase. They put it in a brown paper bag like it was a dirty magazine and barely a word was spoken. While not the worst place you ever heard of, being there was a different story. The shop itself was well hidden and I only knew about it because my mom's boyfriend told me about it. He later told me that the shops main source of income was selling old porno mags (that answered the question about the brown bag) and he shared his interaction with the staff.

He found a comic marked at 5p, he already had this one, but the 5p one was in a better condition. When he went to the counter they asked for 10p. He would not pay over the asking price and the staff member decided to rip the comic in half to his face. He says that it was nice of them to increase the value of that comic for him.

>ton of mangas
>another ton of gossip magazines
>fuckton of toys and "geek/nerdy" merchandise
>no card games related stuff
>like 6 shelf of adult magazines
>there are only like 2 shelf of comics
>Everything is outdated as fuck, like damn that a ultimates #1 and they dont even have anything else
>owner doesnt even know when the rest will arrive of if it ever will
>ask for recommendations and he gives the most vague answer saying literally "i dont know, just pick what you want"

good thing it closed like a month later
