If a trailer/news blurbs about the movie interest you, and you're not low on money, you should go out and watch it on your own terms with your own expectations
Don't let it get to your head DCfans, you'll know what you'll think in three days but for the financially strained if you had plans to stretch budgets to see the movie, hold off for now

>Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is the story of a self-important billionaire with a casual attitude to the truth, who becomes paranoid about a segment of the immigrant population. He decides to take brutal and - as it happens - entirely unjustified and even self-endangering action against that immigrant, to the benefit of a rich psychopath who wants to distract everyone from their own nefarious grasp at power.
>And of course now he’s squaring off against Batman, for reasons that even the film can’t quite understand. “He has the power to wipe out the entire human race,” says Ben Affleck’s Batman of Henry Cavill’s Superman. “If we believe there is even a one percent chance that he is our enemy, we have to take it as an absolute certainty.” Bruce, you’re meant to be among the smartest men on Earth and you can’t tell 1 per cent from 100 per cent? That makes literally no sense.

Entertainment Weekly, which is owned by Warner Brothers, said the movie was dumb visual flair and little substance much in the same way as 300. Which, while spectacles are nice, they hinted it could not sustain a 2 hr 30 minute runtime and gave it a C +.

A company on WB's payroll gave the movie a C+.

Snyder film are under-appreciated Kinography. Even Sucker Punch is a very well done movie that can only be truly understood by patricians. Philistines who crave for cliched humor over thought provoking and meaningful story plague the current journalistic arena. These people have zero understanding of what good cinematography, writing, and acting is. Take for example The Avengers movie. Many of the shots look like they came out of a college student's project, not to mention the zero gravity in its scenarios or depth to any of its characters (outside of Captain America, who is very well developed). In fact, take a look at the deleted scenes of the Avengers for Cap. The very atmosphere is completely different and was taken out because it contrasted with how bland the rest of the movie is.

What's wrong with fun, anon?

Why else would you go to a cape movie? For the intellectualism? For the metaphors? For the art?

And did you even read past that one sentence? Because he's got plenty to say about it.

Such as:

>The solemn, grandiose atmosphere is severely disrupted by Luthor, portrayed by Eisenberg as a privileged high-tech guru who would make the actor's take on Mark Zuckerberg look like the epitome of style and manners. Loaded with vocal ticks and gushing with smarmy ripostes and threats, the character is loathsome without an ounce of insidious charm; if the legacy of the studio's Dark Knight films might have suggested anything, it should have been in the area of great villains, but here there is just a great vacuum.

>here there is just a great vacuum
>it just plain sucks

Snyder in a nutshell

Because the idea of two superheroes having a big ole fight is supposed to have some modicum of fun to it. Maybe not Summer Blockbuster fun but some sort of fun. If they manage to erase all that by trying to drown it in schlocky drama that doesn't work then people notice.

Sure, fun is a buzzword and all that but if a movie was doing it's job people wouldn't notice the fun they weren't having.

Revenant wasn't fun. But notice how no one called it out on it not being fun because it wasn't marketed as "Your beloved childhood hero goes into the woods on a wacky adventure for the ages".

They tried to make a serious attempt at a man in a bat suit fighting space jesus and, at least by the reviews coming in, didn't pull this off.

Could BvS have been an ultra serious film AND have been very good? Sure. Was it the case this time? Nope.

Nope, not everyone does. But that doesn't mean it's wrong to be part of over half the people who do just because 44% don't.

why the hell is it still at 27 reviews
>>
>>80995452
Have you ever seen a movie on Rotten Tomatoes start in the negatives and then end up certified fresh?
>>
Days like today remind me why film criticism is dead.

Mind you, it's not because of the taglines (since, if you say "the critics are wrong", you'll be accused of not reading the reviews), but because the reviews simply lack depth. This is true in both the positive and the negative ones.

And I suppose it makes sense. If you watch a movie one time, without the opportunity to pause and rewind, you can't really comment on much except whether you liked things or not, or whether the plot was good or not. Minute details melt away, and you're left with describing whether you liked something you can hardly even remember.

Ebert truly was the last readable critic, and even he was not very good in the grand scale of things.

A lot of things end up summarized as "it was good" or "it was bad".

There trying to capture the success of the Batman Trilogy while at the same time understanding what made the trilogy work in the first place.

Gritty philosphy cape movies can exist but it just plain doesn't work with something like Superman or the very least needs to be handled with extreme care. Add to the fact that they're trying to create a cape universe in the span of one film just because the other company had the common sense to develop and take time with that shit and it's not hard to see why it failed.

>Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice review, comic fans and critics will hate it, but it’s not for them
>BvS isn’t a movie for die-hard comic fans. It isn’t a film for critics. Batman v Superman was made for the every day, action-loving movie goer. Too bad I’m not that person.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s some things to like about this film — if you enjoy multiple subplots, three false endings, some of the worse CGI integration you’ve seen since Scorpion King, and piss in a cup. No, seriously. Lex, being the vindictive-and-unhinged replacement for the Joker that he is, leaves his own personal cup of “peach tea” for a character, in a scene I wont spoil. It was actually one of the more what-the-heck and honestly genuine moments of BvS. It seemed right out of Deadpool, and not something in a film with this level of gravitas.
