The writers are pandering to the Felicity Fans instead of comic fans. Yes they still do put in the occasional good stuff but it's so plagued by so much Felicity, and what's really confusing is how she's easily the worst character in the show yet her fanbase manages to put all the character she argues with in the wrong. There were people on Twitter defending her getting angry with Oliver because he had no idea he had a son and that she didn't tell her about the son he had no idea about. She uses to be a fine side character, now she ruins everything she touches, I couldn't even watch the second Flarrow Crossover without cringing and fastfowarding through a sizeable amount of runtime because of how much Felicity there was.
The worst part is how we can't even complain about it because all the points about her being a terrible character, will be droned out by people telling us that we don't like her because she's a girl.

Laurel took some time to actually work hard and get good. She seeked teachers, she got out of her alcoholic stupor, and made a hero out of herself. Even then, she wasn't that competent, but we give points for trying.
During Season 3, all Felicity did was cry and whine about Ollie being worried about the League of Assassins coming to kill them all. We hoped that they would leave that shit behind, but it keeps following us through season 4.

I did like Felicity a lot in season 1 - 2. Everyone else felt really bland, and she added some personality to the show.
The problem is she does not translate at all to being a main character, because all her drama is so forced and horrible, that derails the superhero plot so we can get minutes and minutes of her whining about herself.
Okay so i hate arrow. Like ive hated it since episode 1.
I watched two fucking seasons though cos everyone kept telling me it was just about to get better. But after i saw how they neutered deathstroke and continued with episode after episode of 'but ollie why can't you be the perfect man i require you to be in order for me to stop bitching about every fucking thing you do' alongside 'no i have to do this my way because fuck learning from my mistakes im surly....do i seem like batman, i really wanna be batman' i finally said fuck this a few into season 3.
So for me....every character is shit. they all suck. I can't think of one worthwhile regular on the cast except Sarah Lance who should have been the regular black canary and named Dinah all the fuck along. But she aint even around so whatever.
That being said it seems Felicity has produced hatred I have never fucking seen before so i'm wondering what the fuck is so goddamn horrible about this character she manages to stand out as atrocious even among this already the altogether shitty ensemble?
