>IZ only had a latin american dub and nothing else

I'm almost positive Nickelodeon Japan did air at least one Zim episode dubbed into Japanese back in 2001. However, finding any audio from it is nearly impossible for some reason.

This is SUPPOSED to be a clip of Zim from it though

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYznfv55KHA
>>
>>80974107
It doesn't sound nearly as good as original English. But still, japanese invader zim, i'm interested. That's a pretty weird American show, they probably decided it was too 'off' for Japanese audiences.
>>
>>80974107
One thing that makes me really doubt the authenticity of that clip is the complete lack of any background music or sound effects. Those were always pretty prominent on that show. Unless the Japanese airing completely changed the show's sound design, I'm pretty sure that's just some person doing an impression.

Thanks for trying to dig something up though.

I'm pretty dubious about that clip, too. But according to various sources online, a Japanese dub of IZ did exist at one point. It seems to have been all or mostly lost to the ages, though.

I remember someone who lived in Japan talking about the dub online a million years ago, too, and mentioning the seiyuu, I believe all the main cast had female seiyuu. When Nick Japan existed it had a webpage for IZ too.

I was huge IZ fan back in the day and almost positive there was a japanese IZ dub, I could've sworn I've seen videos of it on youtube a really long time ago, there were lots of japanese IZ fans on sites like deviantart way back who made fanart but I don't know if they just watched a fansubbed version of the show or a genuine release on tv, according to the link >>80975235 posted IZ aired in Nick japan from 2005-2009 which seem a bit late for some of the stuff I'm talking about but it could also have inaccurate information. Also after looking through the comments section on that wiki it seems Nick Japan site still exists and even has a page for Zim: http://www.nickjapan.com/programs/invader_zim/index.html
No clips or anything but it definitely must have had a dub if it has a page on their website.

>I want to watch the Japanese dub of Avatar the Last Airbender.

The dub only made it midway through Book 2 before Nick Japan went under. I don't think they even made it to Toph.

I watched some episodes of it. Katara got one of those submissive Japanese girly girl voices that sounded totally wrong for the character. Aang was dubbed by a woman instead of an actual preteen, but that's typical for Japanese cartoons (they almost never cast kids with kids).

They had to change the title to "Legend of the Boy Aan" for complex transliteration reasons. In Japanese, when they transliterate Chinese words that end in -ng", they drop the "g" (Hong Kong is rendered "Hon Kon" for example).

However, doing that with Aang made it sound like his name was "Anne", so they had to add "the boy" to the title so viewers would know he wasn't a girl.

It was stupid.
>>
>>80979820
>There's a King of the Hill Japanese dub. I just don't get why though. KotH seemed like something very American.

The Japanese like shows about Americana for the same reasons Americans like shows about Japanese slice of life.

It's "exotic".

(that said, King of the Hill got cancelled after the first season in Japan)

>The Japanese dub of MLP is pretty good.

Except for how they cut 3 minutes of content from every episode to tack on a live action educational segment at the end. Also, they don't dub half the songs.
>>
>>80988812
Okay, I get not dubbing some songs but why would they do the latter?
>>
>>80990474
>Okay, I get not dubbing some songs but why would they do the latter?

The series aired on TV Tokyo.

TV Tokyo does the same thing to Transformers; they like to add little segments called "corners" to the ends of episodes which advertise products or provide educational content. Domestic shows are written and timed to account for the corners. Imported shows are cut to make room.

Also, their openings and endings are longer, so they have to cut about a minute out of each episode to accommodate those, too.

It's better for imported cartoons to go directly to satellite so they don't have to be cut. The current Transformers cartoon airs on Animax instead of TV Tokyo/Aichi and is the first series not to be edited since Beast Machines (which also aired on satellite).

>>
>>80997538
>Didn't they gender flip somebot in Beast Wars to make lesbots?

Yes to the first part, no the the second part.

Airazor got turned into a dude and all the dialogue that was romantic with Tigatron was rewritten to not be.

Until the episode where they got abducted and expressed their love for one another. The dub couldn't do anything about that, so for one episode and one episode only, Airazor and Tigatron were suddenly gay.

>>Airachnid is now a horny sex maniac hellbent on fucking the human kid to death

Someone translated all of Airachnid's Pepe Le Pew-style wooing from that episode's dub.

And yeah, she wants to fuck Jack six ways til sunday.

>When Jack starts making his way toward Airachnid's ship, she calls out to him, "I'm over heeeere!" Airachnid then begins flirtatiously singing an old Japanese folk song, "Zui Zui Zukkorobashi". That particular song, despite being a nursery rhyme, is known for having a hidden sexual meaning. Basically, it's about a woman (represented by a tea pot), who amorously chases an unwilling man (represented by a mouse), catches him, then loudly slams the door behind them so she can... do things to him.
*Incidentally, the love song prefaces her pursuit of Jack into her spaceship. As Airachnid creeps inside to look for him, she continues to make the "door slamming" sound, indicating that she wants to close the door behind them and finish the song.
*After Jack destroys Airachnid's ship and she finally captures him with her webbing, she actually proposes marriage to him. Airachnid claims that because he's stranded her on Earth, it's Jack's "duty" to wed her (she pops the question as she rubs his face with her fingers). Luckily for Jack, Arcee shows up in the nick of time to break the engagement.
