jennfer heddle (i think it was her) said in regard to the korean one that its canonicity was in a grey area due to leaving space open for "cultural adaptations" or whatever. never figured out what that's supposed to mean since there's nothing specifically korean about it except for luke being pretty. we've all just sort of treated it to mean that it's canon except where it's not (like leia crying when luke finds her on the death star instead of cracking wise).
i skimmed the european one and that doesnt look like it adds anything. it's pretty much a straight lift, with all the dialogue being from the scripts, just doing the movies in comic form. the korean one however adds in extra scenes like young luke being saved from a krayt by ben, more training with yoda on dagobah, luke building his green lightsaber on tatooine, etc

Yeah, I made it ages ago, but then this thread decided on an Empire group.
Someone made an Empire group, and made me a leader in it. But he stopped playing months ago, and I lost my account permanently last week, so the Empire group is permafucked, right when it was picking up steam too. I don't think there's any officers in it to moderate/add/kick people, ect. There was only a few active players left anyways. We had a few new people join right as my account got fucked so I have no idea what's happening with that.

Ahh ok. Seems like the standard adaptation then, I wouldn't hold onto either too much in terms of canon. For example, Luke building his Lightsaber is likely a nod to the deleted scene, but it's very possible that canonically, they intend to have Luke get his Lightsaber long before RotJ actually starts. If they were given space for "cultural interpretation", then I doubt the LSG looked too hard to make sure it was accurate. Especially if they changed actual scenes in the movie (Leia crying).

Actually Maul joins them, but along the way he starts corrupting Ezra with dark lessons. We've already seen this much.
Now that does't mean it will last long, but guaranteed these episodes are going to fuck Ezra up and have a lasting impact. He's being coaxed into the dark side by someone he thinks as an ally and he hasn't been fully trained to deal with this. Even if he comes out of this without being Maul's new apprentice Ezra is going to be carrying baggage from this experience. This isn't going to be light and fluffy.

The only way I see Ezra joining Maul is a "we both hate the Empire (or in Maul's case Sidious) so let's destroy them with the dark side". I don't see Ezra trying to kill the Ghost crew, but I could see him deciding he's gonna take on the Empire with Maul and his philosophy instead. Depends. Dark Siders aren't exactly known for their emotional health. He's been living with the weight of his failures and everything that was stolen from him, including his mommy, for fifteen years. They both needed each other, anon. That's precisely the way the movie shows it. It's the key dynamic to their very relationship. He needs her, she needs him.
She didn't want Finn touching her at first, she refused human contact even if he was trying to help, until dragging her out of the tent on Jakku saved her from being TIE-died. After that she reaches out her hand to him, initiates human contact with him. Just as he says she was the first person who looked at him in a way that made him feel important, like a real person, which was something he never got from the First Order.
Then she ended up as the pilot, he the gunner, and together they fought their way off of Jakku. At Maz's they both tried to convince the other to follow them and not part. Later on when Rey was captured that was Finn's impetuous for using the Resistance to help save her, even if he technically lied a bit about how he could help them destroy Starkiller Base. When Finn was wounded by Kylo Ren this was her impetus for finally taking up the Skywalker family blade which she had previously refused.
So basically they need each other on several different levels. Symbolic, spiritual, emotional, actual. Fatalistically.

The Thrawn Trilogy worked pretty good as a sequel for the characters. Leia was all in politics, Han was her husband and tried to still find his way in his post-Rebellion/Smuggling life and Luke was looking for a way to recreate the Jedi.

That's what's bugging a lot of people. Obviously there isn't going to suddenly be 1000 years of peace or whatever after ROTJ, but TFA just hit the reset button. The New Republic got hammered (though to their credit at least we know it wasn't suddenly destroyed, though it still puts them in a really bad spot), the Jedi are back to being nearly extinct, the Empire came back and changed its name, there's a dark sider controlling it and his right-hand man is a Skywalker he lured to the dark side, the only opposition to all this is an under-armed and under-funded group of scrappy rebels.

This isn't to say racism/speciesism/WHATEVER doesn't exist, all forms of hate and evil are cool with Sheev, but it's not any form of official mandate.
You have to remember that at this point the Senate still exists, Sheev still has to kiss their butts at least enough to keep them happy and complacent so they don't fuck with his plans, and he didn't, and couldn't, declare them as human only positions. Maybe with the Regional Governors but most likely those are members of whatever planet is key in that territory. Getting people to oppress their own kind is one of Sheev's fondest fancies.

They seem to have an important part in the senate, or at least Orn Free Ta seemed to enjoy some prominence, but Ryloth itself is kind of a dump. Kallus was going to be Chiss. We also had Tseebo working for them, though he's a local hire. And none of the Inquisitors have been human. They generally command both respect and fear within the Empire (though I guess people can pass that off as due to their powers, which is certainly a part of it).
They've done deals with Amda Wabo (with Tua doing her best to kiss his butt and keep him happy) and those miners. The spy guy in ANH is typically counted.
It'd be nice to see more aliens at least in more minor roles within the Empire.
