Bitches always bitching, bad character development and sucky use of a villain.

I thought your show was pretty good... I just don't think it has anywhere interesting enough to go from here to justify successive seasons as a standalone series.

You'd be better off doing Heroes For Hire once Luke Cage finishes its single series.

I don't hate it, I just think the script needed to go through two more drafts before filming to fix the pacing and tension issues. There needs to be a better reason to not kill Kilgrave first chance beyond just 'a girl who is willing to go to jail if it means Kilgrave dies would go to jail if he dies'
>>
>>80936344
I didn't. But it was painfully obvious that David Tennant carried the show on his back and you killed him. There's nothing for me to get invested in with an S2 because the only reason to care about the show is ded.
>>
>>80936344
I started out enjoying the show, but every time Kilgrave was captured and then inexplicably escapes made me like it less and less. Nearly dropped the show when Jessica gets knocked out by a woman and Kilgrave escapes for a 3rd time.

Her torturing the helpless villain that was powerless against her made me root for him. She was a meta and none of his juju worked on her. That's not how you make a villain threatening. It didn't work like that in the mini. By the end of it, I wanted her to fall under his spell again.

You know guy know why i hate jessica so much?

She could have used Killgrave.
He saved 3 lives just because she asked him to.She could use him to save so many more lives. And who knows, maybe even save him in some way. From what i remember,he liked the fact that he saved those people. He's still a kid really, throwing tantrums and all,but for the first time, someone had control over him,not the other way around.

Some people say that he's a criminal and a rapist, and i think that he's worth saving only because i like the character. That may be true, but that doesn't change the fact that jessica didnt used his powers to save people just because she wanted revenge. He raped you, yes, but you can use him for good.

You don't know if you want to be overt or allegory.

that he was swearing blind to Jessica that he can turn over a new leaf, then torturing the housekeepers a scene later was proof that you could never trust him. He was only listening to Jessica because he still believed she could come to love him. the second he becomes disillusioned of that, or gets bored of her, or finds some other bit of green grass to lust over, all bets would be off.

i thought season 2 failed to pop as much as the first season. It had some very good highs, but some pretty low lows, too. In particular I hated how they redid the interpersonal drama dynamic from season 1. Oh sure DD having trouble balancing his work and heroic activities was a given, but his issues with Foggy adn Karen were practically the same shit from season 1. Then FINALLY revealing his identity to Karen is treated like some huge cliffhanger after dragging it out for two seasons.

I'm not really sure what they'll do with JJ season 2. Like people said her material is a little light. Maybe it's a chance to add to her, though.

Actually what I'd rather have than any of these shows is an entire series about Ben Urich investigating shit and getting involved with various heroes. I really liked his character in DD, they did some good things with him but he felt wasted in the end. Well, literally, but him investigating Purple Man in JJ would have been a nice tie-in. Not that Rosario Dawson wasn't, she's great in all of this. Karen replacing Urich just wasn't the same, even though it was obviously where they were going since DD season 1.

Godawful pacing and a plot that could/should have been wrapped up in about half the time, mainly.

>>
>>80937852
Luke was right to freak out that she had sex with him after she knew she killed the love of his life. That was pretty messed up, but then Jessica's entire season was largely based around people not making the best of life choices.

>>80938526
FWIW I find it kind of funny how recent studies show that humans who left Africa have a percentage of Neanderthal and/or Denisovan genes, so technically the groups that stayed in Africa are purer Homo Sapien.

Which ultimately doesn't really matter a damn. The more important lesson to gain is that it is true humanity has a biological Captain Kirk Imperative to explore new lands, seek out new life and new civilizations, and make sweet tender love to them. You'd think 4chan would be all for that. Or at least our natural instinct for Delicious Brown would override whatever /pol/ influence there is in these threads.

The plot could have been but wouldn't have been. Purple Man set it up that way. It's why his triumphant return into her life involved recreating what he did to her with Hope. Jessica did all this to try to save someone who was in her exact same situation. Hope was quite literally her hope. It dragged out everything, kept her from killing Purple Man so many times. It couldn't be a coincidence, he knew exactly how to push Jessica's buttons. Even when you aren't under his power he knows how to manipulate people.

Even Hope knew this in the end so she took herself out of the equation by committing suicide, finally freeing Jessica to do what she had to do.

Honestly what pissed me off is you'd have people like the freak sister and those other douches who got Hope into that fucked up no-win situation and they never once owned up to how much they screwed it up and it was their fault that young woman died.

Does JJ have any more compelling villains to drive her series? Okay DD season 2 was driven more by Frank and his anti-heroic crusade for most of the season. The Nobu ninja stuff was mostly at the end and Elektra proved a distraction to DD more than anything else.

Whether she gets a new main villain or not honestly I wished the JJ had a bit more actual detective work. She was less an actual detective and mostly using scam tactics. Not that those two are mutually exclusive. Anyway since her practice was picking up at the end, whether she wanted it or not, maybe they will next season.

>>80936344
The Hope Schlottman arc, which was the main storyline, had no payoff. Seriously, she just kills herself after she's released from jail?

Then there's the lesbian divorce arc. So boring, so bland. And how is Trinity's GF guilty for murder? When you kill someone to prevent that person deliberately killing a defenseless person, I'm pretty sure that's legal.

Also, I know it's more plausible, but Kilgrave should have been a recurring villain rather than some guy you killed off. Personally, I feel that he has the most interesting powers in the show.

I did grow to like JJ. As whiny and annoyingly dumb as she is, she's a perfect example that not every metahuman is meant for superhero work.

Luke Cage is also pretty boring. I know that it wouldn't work in the 2010's, but from what little I've seen on /co/, I like his Blaxploitation character better than just Mack with invincibility.

Trish was really hot, though, to me, she's the second-cutest chick following Simmons from AoS.

I also like your supporting cast. Malcolm, Trish, Simpson, hell, even Robin all grew on me.

All in all, not as good as Daredevil Season 1, but decent.

Pacing was off and Killgrave escaping all the time was annoying, but killing him off was worse because he was the most compelling part of the show.

It was good, but not great. It really missed the point of the character and transformed her into something unoriginal and ultimately boring.

How's this:

She's now working private investigator full time. She's stopped drinking. A bunch of different, seemingly unrelated clients ask her to retrieve some lost piece of personal heirloom that's been stolen. All contracts have a main suspect, they just can't find them.

She goes around investigating and finds the stolen stuff and retrieves it to her clients. All her clients seem very standoff-ish, like they are feeding her bullshit and sending her on wild goose chases and suspicious runs, but all the targets are crooks, so it doesn't make much sense for regular people to be fucking with her. She starts to get paranoid.

At some point one of the first clients shows up again with a new, completely unrelated case for her to solve, but she doesn't want to because she thinks he's fucking with her. He claims not to know what she's talking about even after she beats the shit out of him, sending him through a window out of frustration. She occasionally starts seeing different clients/robbers/people around her she already knew acting completely different and like they never saw her before. The jobs become weirder and start including stuff that obviously don't belong to the clients, so she stops doing them and clients stop showing up as much.

She gets suspicious and starts chasing the former clients and interrogating them, but none of them knows her or what she's talking about. She begins to break down and get paranoid about Kilgrave having come back. The whole season has that uneasy feeling that someone is fucking with her on purpose, like the first chapters of Alias. Pieces of the puzzle don't match without memory wipe/mind control. She visits the grave of, well, Kilgrave, and it's untouched. The paranoia starts getting to her and she becomes restless and aggressive and almost begins drinking again. She eventually doubts it and digs the grave only to find a skeleton wearing a decomposing black suit, with a purple tie. It's neck is broken.
>>
>>80939981
That's not why he was the villain. He was a villain because he went apeshit and started murdering people left and right.

(cont)

And after whatever climactic revelation to be decided she starts putting clues together about the missing heirloom from the early cases, and somehow tracks it down to the residence of one guy:

Dmitri Smerdyakov, the chameleon. He came across one of those masks from TWS. It is broken/he doesn't know how to fully use it, so he needs to use someone's face from close to Jessica's block because it times out after a while. With some preparation and good acting he can create his characters without being recognized.

Turns out, he never meant to fuck with Jessica in particular. He just wanted a decent PI to find stuff that he knew a bunch of his old crooked friends had, but he couldn't find. After robbing all his former associates and seeing Jessica throw that one repeated dude out the window, he found out she had powers and started asking her for different, riskier stuff. She was basically robbing for him. Turns out, it wasn't about Jessica at all, she was just the first decent PI that Dmitri found and he just took it from there. The fact that she wasn't being targeted serves as an eye-opener and gives her the self-confidence she needs to stop thinking she's the center of the universe always being the victim on purpose.

Mix it up with some Hellcat B-story and there you go.

Actually teaching empathy to an emotionally disturbed adult who has gone their life without a moral compass that has been established by society is nearly impossible. Typically the only thing you can do is instill in them an understanding of the consequences of their actions 'rape this person, get arrested etc'. But having a drunk, emotionally damaged, private dick with no social skills and poor impulse control instill empathy in a psychopath narcissist who can control peoples actions with a word is fucking ludicrous.

It blows me away people are honestly like 'why didn't she just turn him to a force for good'. Really? like yeah its that fucking easy. Just give up ones own life, freedom, autonomy and aspirations so you can spend the rest of your days babysitting a mind controlling rapist inhuman monster in the off chance you can eventually make him stop doing horrible things to people.
>>
>>80939981

He was right when he wanted to kill the purple man from the start. The most right of anyone really, purple man was a dangerous psychopath who was completely immune from normal law enforcement.

Daredevil S1 did a better job balancing a main story and sub plots.

Her super strength was inconsistent

She could throw guys and catch punches from dudes twice her size but then she'd be tackled or knocked out by some old bitch.

Trying to tackle someone stronger than you is pretty hard to do. It should be pretty impossible when someone is like 4x stronger than you. Her bones should be tougher too to support her strengthend muscles and tendons so knocking her out would have to take some effort.

Also that shit with Simpson/Nuke was fucking terrible. Annoying character, annoying actor and he does some heinous shit to more likable characters later on.

I know they're setting up for the Defenders so we can see DD and Luke and the others taking on IGH as a drug by the Yakuza or Owl like MGH was in Bendis DD run but the storyline felt random as fuck

2 Broke Girls - starring JJ and Foggy
>>
I know it's sacrilegious to say this on /co/, but rewatching DD and JJ S1 in anticipation for DD S2 I ended up enjoying Jones more then Daredevil. I just liked the character stuff in Jones more, and the fact that is was so focused on the people rather then plot made me able to forgive the slow pace easier.

And the screaming over the feminist undertones was full-on retarded. Apparently Daredevil dealing with so many masculine-focused plotlines was just fine, but heaven forbid a show starring a woman deal with female issues or say anything at all.

Certainly not me as a guy who has read comics about white guys punching bad guys with their big muscles for my entire fucking life.

But when Jessica Jones does things about women its obviously PANDERING. Why would they do things that arent pande....errr i mean why wouldnt they just do normal things that I just HAPPEN to enjoy. I mean we have only 2 seasons of daredevil, 2 captain america movies (soon to be 3) 3 iron man movies, and 2 thor movies. i'm honestly fucking tired of it having to all be about women these days by having two avengers movies feature sometimes more than just one woman and jessica jones getting a second season instead of cancelling her and just having another guy focused series and the other three guy focused series.

and if they have to have a Jessica jones series why does she have to be the main character. Why can't she just wear a skimpy outfit while we cut to the super muscles of luke cage. But nope can't do things so they fit my personal desires....gotta pander to women. Fucking MCU is ruined.

Does Marvel even have any female characters they can use? You have Widow and Jones. Patsy isn't even a superhero in this universe. The bitches in AoS who are never going to be in anything outside of that.

All the X-men chicks are at Fox, F4 as well. Spidey is kinda jointly shared. So basically they just have She-Hulk and Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel right?

being forced to do fucked up things and then having to live with it is plenty scary

>>
>>80942769
Even with cosmic characters I can't think of anyone else, that's not a D-Lister or part of a team.
>>
>>80942536

Rewatching S1 the biggest issue is they basically get to a point where the "third act" should start(Matt discovering Leland's identity from the Russian gangster) and then the show takes a 3-4 episode break to play around with ninjas and Scott Glenn just so they can drag the story out to 13 episodes. Now I'm not going to sit here and say that DD fighting ninjas wasn't awesome, but it was still empty padding. Jessica Jones had padding too, but the fact that it was more character interaction and development then just punching.

I dunno, I liked all the rape survivor undertones, it was an interesting place to take the characters and the fact that they explored different versions of it with the cast. They had a thematic concept and actually utilized it instead of just paying lip service to it, and I like it when people use these comic characters to explore deeper ideas then just "I like punching shit." The Nuke plotline wasn't handled great and the incest twins made me want to shove hot spikes in my eyes, but those were the only real issues I had with it.

I'm sure this makes me part of the SJW cuck agenda though, because liking something feminist makes me feminist just like me enjoying masculine action movies makes me a pro-gun conservative. You can't ever enjoy anything out of your personal wheelhouse, that's clearly literally impossible.

Monica Rambeau can be a series as well and they'd have their own buddy team up eventually. They're both good characters to expand outside of Hells Kitchen and NY considering their origins

Hopefully Colleen Wing and Misty Knight have far more energy and charisma than all the other MCU tv show characters. That could be a straight up action sock'em series that breaks the bank like the old tv show Fastlane did to Fox (did some really good camera work on that show)
