Well i just got done another batch and just finished off Sadie's song which wasn't really that bad and kinda nice
Onion Friend was interesting to see that Amethyst really gets out in the human world in her time as well to see just how weird Onion is.
Historical friction was also a nice and neat story backstory episode about how beach city was founded by the crystal gems and i thought it was pretty good
Friend Ship was a nice episode to make up for the problem pearl caused for garnet a few episodes back. Also we learn that pearl basically requires to look up and follow someone and that garnet is helping her deal with her personal problems is nice and touching as well as more peridot and her funny Team rocket type of encounters.
Nightmare hospital was fun and exciting as well as touching to see connie explain the truth to her mother and to also give roses sword some more screentime as well as the fusion mutants and thus was very action packed and interesting
Sadie's Song was actually not that bad and i found it to be a very touching episode overall.
Overall this batch wasn't really that bad but still kept my interest and i can't wait to watch the next 5 episodes tomorrow for you guys.

I'm not sure, actually. I like something about all of them, really. I think I'm at the point where it's less which one I hate the most and more the one I like the least. I'd have to say Lapis, probably. Jasper's kind of a shithead, but I love musclegirls, and I also love to ship her with Opal. Lapis is one that I feel pity for, because she's pretty much crazy. If what we see of Blue Diamond is anything to go off of, she was probably emotionally repressed while in service to her, since the Diamonds may or may not represent societal expectations of women (or various types thereof). Blue Diamond represents demureness, being proper, and the idea that promiscuity is deplorable and shameful. Yellow Diamond is about women being seen as spiteful, demanding, iron-fisted control freaks who must always be right and become violent when defied, even verbally. Makes me wonder what White and Pink Diamond may be like.
So yeah, Lapis is probably emotionally stunted, and after being damaged and imprisoned for thousands of years, she's just snapped finally, and acts kind of stupid because of it. I've always thought that she could make an excellent tragic villain, the Aesop from the whole ordeal being that even the most tolerant people have their breaking point, and pushing them too far can make them cross their sanity's even horizon.

Hate's a tough call, even for the villains, but so far probably Jasper. She's shown no real motivation so far beyond being an enforcer who enjoys her work too much. In Jailbreak she only cares about beating her opponent, even when she's lost her ship and technician; her pride seems to dictate everything.
That said, I'll be interested to see how being stuck with a nihilistic Lapis Lazuli for so many months might have affected her. Maybe we'll see a different side of the old soldier when Malachite comes undone.

Speaking of Aimee, I have the headcanon that Opal is a Rush fan, what with Time Stand Still and all that. Geddy, Alex, and Neil go on a road trip to enjoy their retirement, and at one point stop in Beach City to gas up. Steven had convinced Opal to stick around that day, and so when Geddy steps out of the mart with a beer, he thinks he hears Aimee singing Time Stand Still with a kid. After following it and turning a corner, he sees not Aimee, but a fifteen-foot, four-armed goddess with a young boy on her shoulder.
He stares a bit.
He looks at his beer.
He looks at Opal once more, coming to the conclusion that he was not hearing Aimee, and also that he's never drinking again.
I was actualy going to draw a picture of Opal singing Limelight with Rush at one point, but that one got scrapped when my dog made me spill my drink over it. Since then, I've never had anything to eat or drink within ten feet of my work.

Mhmm. I'm not very fond of when people try to draw her all skinny and whatever- I can forgive them if they have trouble drawing body types other than that, I can definitely relate, especially with drawing fat people- but it really pisses me off when someone gets chided for not drawing her full-on obese. Before she got preggers, she was thick, but not a blob of fat. It's a pretty optimal build for sword-and-shield fighting, you're heavy and hard to knock around because of your weight, which complements bracing for impact when fending off blows with a shield. It also gives you that much more weight to put behind your sword swings, whether you just make a quick thrust or smite their face in with a Haymaker (which is a terrible idea in most situations, by the way).

I've drawn characters with alternate body types as well- ain't afraid to admit my hypocrisy here, it does sting though- like making Opal into a musclegirl (that was done with some weird logic about perceiving and thinking and whatever, had to do with Jasper's imagination). I would imagine that she would be pretty damn solid if she was drawn realistically (Amethyst's thickness and curves + Pearl's sharpness and posture ~= at least something along the lines of a gymnast, if not even more toned), especially with how she'd need to have the muscles on her back to shoulder both pairs of arms, but I typically don't deviate from a character's canon body type on the whole.
I think I could put it more that when I see someone doing an extreme change to the character's body, it's something of an eyeroller for me (but if I still like the work, I can look past it and praise them on what they did well), but it's when you have other people who look at it and do nothing but complain at and insult and chastise and bully an artist because of it that makes me mad. Like, what the fuck guys, I may not care for the change myself, but I don't need to be such a dick about it. Look at the work with a glass-half-full attitude and think of what's likable about it, for fuck's sake. Seeing people get bullied off of Tumblr and whatnot for not drawing something "right" makes me wish that punching someone on the other side of the internet was a thing.

on a more pleasant topic, I actually think Rose and Jasper's bodytypes are identical, given they're both warrior-caste gems (Rose's poofy dress makes it harder to say for sure, though). They even both employ armor as their Gem "weapons", albeit for radically different purposes. Jasper's helmet combined with her super-speed powers make her an unstoppable force; Rose's shield and druid-like abilities (healing, raising plant armies) make her an immovable object. Small wonder Jasper was looking forward to fighting her again...

Although Pearls is the most developed and layered character in the show so far, Peridot is the one I relate the most to...Not with everything of course but her curious nature and childlike wonder are character traits I recognize myself the most with. Also her drive for objectivity and rationalism. Just watching her develop and trying to find middle ground between the CG and Homeworld was great to witness
